Aran Walkers Lodge

The lodging was clean and there are many ammenities in the common room (comfortable seating, weights, exercise mat, games, books. It was attractively decorated. The room views were amazing. The assistant, Eliana (hope I'm spelling her name correctly) who worked with the owner was simply lovely and made a delicious breakfast. She worked hard and seemed so friendly and genuine. The area is beautiful and we received a coupon to get into the Fort at no charge (which was easily in walking distance to lodging). The owner offered to take us into town for food in the evening. We elected to order in food from a local cafe (note that they close at 4 so you have to get it to go and reheat at the Lodge---but they have a microwave at Lodge). I also noted that Eliana made supper for one young couple staying there and it smelled delicious. I'm not sure the cost of that, but it might be an option. Again, Eliana was a gem and the Lodge is lucky to have her.

We booked 2 rooms and one was to be a family room with private bath. However, I had to share the bath. That wasn't a problem and I didn't complain but not what I believed to be the case when I booked. I also encourage any lodgers to be crystal clear about pickup time and location (at dock) with the owner upon arrival. I highly recommend speaking with the owner directly rather than relying on email to confirm pickup plans and to avoid miscommunication....and being forced to find your own way to the lodging. We were successful in finding a taxi driver after walking a bit with our luggage. I also recommend that you book a hop on/hop off tour before going to the Lodge. Though this Lodge isn't that far from town, it is an inconvenience to book at taxi to return to town if you want to sightsee. This isn't the fault of the Lodge...I just didn't understand how transportation worked on the island or distances involved.

Eliana is a strong asset to the Lodge. She is not the owner but an assistant but very easy to talk with and work with. We booked 2 rooms and I've already written a review. Nice and spacious rooms and good view.

It was an excellend location and it provided the serenity we were looking for. The option for a shuttle pickup was great and the free pass to the fort along with advice on what to see and do while we were on the island was helpful. The continental breakfast we had was wonderful.

The hosts were nice

I had no wifi or any signal in my room. The gears of the rented bike didn't work, so I have to push the bike up the hills. Also there was low pressure in the tires and the brakes were bad.
