Our casita at Horse Thief Ranch was the PERFECT place for my wife and I to hang out, recharge and relax during our four-night stay in Tucson. Super quiet neighborhood with great access to local restaurants and points of interest. We even to to spend some time visiting with other guests at the ranch and enjoy their company. Communications with the owners was fantastic - couldn't ask for anything better. We sincerely hope we can stay at this property on our next Tucson visit.

Casita B was a very nice place to spend nearly a week. The bed was awesome...slept like a baby on it. It was nice having a full size fridge we could stock for our stay and an equipped kitchen. No dishwasher but not a problem. The grounds are very nicely kept. Be sure and check out the large turtle they have. There are lots of metal sculptures to look at too. There is a closeby walking/bike trail that follows the river. We will stay here if we find ourselves in Tucson again.

We were supposed to stay for two nights. The first night we had neighbors who were loud all night, and we did not get any sleep. The same night, we tried to take a shower and after running the water for 10-15 minutes, it was still freezing. At 6 a.m. the next morning, we tried the shower again and it never got warm, so we left and I am sure I will not get a refund for the second day/night. When it is only 50-60 degrees this creates a big issue. We loved the area, but would prefer our peace and quiet and a warm shower! Disappointed is an understatement. We travel a lot and have stayed in plenty of rentals and never had an issue. I emailed the owners regarding the issue, but no response. If you like a hot shower in the desert winter, I would highly recommend a different place!

If you are looking for the western experience, Horse Thief Ranch is a great place to stay. We made ourselves at home and enjoyed the beautiful grounds and views of the Santa Catalina Mountains. The ranch would be a wonderful place for a family reunion because of the casitas and main house. Our mattress was incredibly comfortable, the best I have ever had on my travels.

We fully enjoyed our stay at the Catalina Foothills. Our communication with the manager was great. We appreciated being out of the city and yet a close 10-15 minutes from food and grocery. The apartment had everything we needed to cook for ourselves. We really appreciate a full size refrigerator. We have a little Boston terrier and she was safe and secure in the fence yard. We appreciate all the activities that were accurately described. We really liked the walking trails. We would definitely stay there again.

Great Casita B
Great cozy lil suite perfect for one or two people. Comfortable bed. Enough kitchen to use for our purposes. There's a double washer n dryer next door if you need laundry. I liked the gardens very much and the jacuzzi. Would be great to be able to have more than one bath towel per person for a whole weekend. Full BBQ area in backyard. Thanks for a very good stay.

Delightful Casita Get Away
I enjoyed my 3 week stay in Casita B at Horse Thief Ranch. Located at the end of a road, it is a quiet neighborhood with little car traffic. The grounds are beautiful! There is a lovely fenced courtyard right outside our front door that is shared with an adjoining Casita. The landscaping is lovely with huge trees that keep the courtyard shaded much of the time. Comfortable patio furniture and a soothing water fountain add to the serenity.
I traveled with my 2 small dogs and it was great having the courtyard for them to wander around safely.
Casita B is small but comfortable. There is no carpet and several rugs throughout. The king bed was very comfortable with luxurious sheets! The shower was excellent. There is a jetted tub, but I didn't use it. The bedroom and living room both have ceiling fans. During my stay in April, I did not need to use the AC at all, I just used the fans. I kept the bedroom window open to hear the soothing sounds of the water fountain outside my window.
There was not a regular coffeemaker, so I had to borrow one from my daughter. The only spices available in the kitchen were salt and pepper. There was no dishwasher.
The location was great for me, just a few miles from my daughter's place. There is a lovely view of the Catalina mountains from the property.
I loved my stay here. The only con I have to list is that I could hear the people in Casita C when they would come in late.
The housekeeper/onsite property manager (?) was very friendly and helpful.

Well appointed, everything you need. The grounds are fantastic and relaxing. Just know the casita’s only bathroom is in the master bedroom, so make sure you are cozy with your living room mates.

I love the East side of Tucson, this place on the Tanque Verde wash provided easy access for lots of activities.Pros: great grounds, well maintained and the common areas were pleasant and the other guests were welcoming. I mentioned to the owners that the K cup coffee maker is useless for a big coffee drinker like me so they bought me a regular coffee maker. Very attentive.Cons: Spending time inside on a chilly and very windy day I realized the sofa is past its' prime and the Casita is small (no chair) so there was not a comfortable place to sit for an extended day of reading. The Outdoor kitchen area had nice grills but no cooking utensils or cooking supplies. Other guests and I scrounged our rooms for outdoor cooking utensils. The grill outside my Casita never did work so I had to walk around to the common kitchen to cook. Kind of a pain in the dark.Check in could be better. No one met me so I wandered around looking for my Casita. Seeing a Welcome Sign I walked into the main house looking for an office. I startled the guests staying in the main house. The kitchen in my Casita had only Salt and Pepper. No cooking oils or any other type of seasonings. I am used to a more complete set up, especially during a stay in days of Covid. The Spa was way too hot, 105, and I could not turn it down. I used it only once as I looked like a lobster when I got out.I will return, overall this is a great place to stay with wonderful grounds and the option of staying in your own area (which was fenced for my dogs) or mingling with other guests in a common area.

We enjoyed our stay. The outdoor area is fantastic - amazing outdoor kitchen area, two hot tubs - one is huge - lots of outdoor seating. It was too chilly for us to hang out in the evenings much but my husband cooked dinner outside each night and we enjoyed the hot tubs and had a fire in one ofs the firepit one night. There are several units/casitas on the property, plus the main house, but we had little interaction with others except in passing. Our unit, Casita B, is probably the smallest unit but it was fine for us. Large fridge and full size oven/stove, microwave and small appliances, well stocked with utensils. The jetted bathtub/shower is super nice. The bed was super comfortable (memory foam?). So nice to be able to walk a block to a trail to hike and not far from groceries, shopping, etc. The owner was also very responsive and very nice when I locked us out of the unit! Use the keypad - don't lock the doorknob! We loved our stay here - thank you.

The property is lovely, situated at the end of the road in a residential neighborhood. Feels far away from city but access to everything is 10 minutes or less away! A walking path begins directly outside the property. Easy drive from airport. The bubbling fountains, the quiet landscape, shady, lovely yard, and the lap pool, hot tub and sitting areas were all just perfect. Myrtle the Turtle was an unexpected surprise and entertaining. We had easy access to Sabino canyon and Saguaro. The casita is small but accommodates two easily. Internet was great and kitchen was outfitted well. Beds comfortable. Shower and bath were great. Everything is small but perfect for a short stay and of course you can always sit outside in the yard and garden. We’d definitely recommend this lovely home!

Listing was eye catching and after our arrival, proved to be very accurate. Manager met us for our early check-in and gave us a tour of the property. The amenities were really nice! In addition to the hot tub there was a unique lap pool. Overall, the tub was very relaxing even though all the jets were not functional. Our casita was thoroughly furnished in the kitchen utensils aspect. The bed was a memory foam king size & very comfy. The bathroom had a novel setup in that the tub water supply provided a multitude of water delivery, from a soft rainfall shower head to a hand held spray to jets that hit assorted body parts. Oh and the tub had about 8 jets for a stimulating jacuzzi bath!A couple of small glitches with the Internet connection and satellite TV were quickly resolved by the property manager. We are adding this locale to our “return to “ list! Thank you Kendra & Keith for your hospitality!

Relaxing
We greatly enjoyed our stay in Casista B. Everything was comfortable and clean. The complex is lovely. The hot tub was nice. Being able to do laundry is always a plus when traveling. Though I was shocked to see that other guests seemed to wash and dry only a shirt and a pair of socks! So wasteful.
As other reviews have indicated, there isn't a lot of clothes storage. The owners have added an additional rolling clothing rack with bins. At first it seemed awkward and out of place. But, then I made use of it so seems like a good addition.
The standout moment came when my traveling companion sprained her ankle when we were at the Tucson Rodeo Parade. We sent a text message asking if they had a walking boot. And, they did! Really made the rest of our stay so much easier in every way. I can't thank you enough.

Great Place - Excellent Location, Cozy, Great Owner
Really enjoyed our stay at the Horsethief Ranch! Location is really great - convenient to Sabino Canyon, restaurants, and attractions. Super cozy and quiet. We really enjoyed the grill area - top-notch Kitchen Aid grill. Enabled us to stay in and save some money. Owner communication was fantastic! Even accommodated a very late arrival with no issues. Highly recommended for a couple looking for a great place to stay in the Tucson area!

The overall property was beautiful. Very nice Tucson location. Our casita was perfectly designed for two people. The location was quiet and proximity to the riverwalk was great. Would definately come back.

Nice property - great hosts!
This was a great location, close to lots of trails for hiking and to shopping and restaurants. The weather while we were here was quite rainy and cold - rather unusual for Tucson - so we didn't get to enjoy all the amenities the way we anticipated. Kendra was a wonderful hostess, always responding quickly to questions and requests. It was obvious that she wanted everyone to thoroughly enjoy their stay. The casita was clean and well-equipped. We stayed for 2 weeks and there were convenient laundry facilities on the grounds. The only thing missing was a closet and drawer space for clothes - there was a small amount of space to hang clothes. It was a great location for the two of us.

Consider carefully
This casita might be good for a night or two but was uncomfortable for a longer stay. There was no closet and no drawer space. There was no place to put suitcases. The kitchen was limited in that there was only one pan, one pot, and no refrigerator storage containers. The owners were pleasant. We are used to having a dishwasher and there was none.
