It was a great say. House was clean, fresh white linen, all necessities in the kitchen. Host also left tea, coffee, cereals complimentary. The bonus was the reserved parking just right in front of house. Host was helpful.

There was a small miscommunication about our arrival time, but the owner met us quickly at the property once she knew we were there. The home is large and has many areas, including outdoor space, for sitting and many antique objects to admire. Our room itself also had two sitting areas in addition to the sleeping area, which looked out at the Brasov sign. Onsite parking, even though it was a little daunting to back out of the narrow entranceway, was a plus, as were the granola and instant coffee in the common area. We loved being able to walk to the main square within a few minutes, but our room was quiet for good sleeping.

We stayed at Kronhaus for just one night, and unfortunately, our experience was far from smooth. Right from the start, there was confusion around the payment. According to the listing on Booking.com, Visa cards are accepted, and I even saw the Visa logo displayed on a sign inside the hallway (as shown in the attached photo). However, despite this, the host declined my Revolut Visa card and insisted on cash, which felt inconvenient and contradictory to what was advertised.
The rooms themselves were cold, and we discovered that the central heating was controlled remotely by the host and only set to turn on at specific times. We were able to get the air conditioning working in my elderly parents’ room, but in our loft room, the unit wasn’t even wired—leaving us with no way to warm the space. Not so comfortable bed -instead of a double bed we had two beds placed together.
Things escalated when we found ourselves locked inside the property and had to call the host just to be let out so we could go to town for dinner. Being locked in on every floor presents a serious fire hazard, and it was particularly distressing for my mother who suffers from claustrophobia.
Cleanliness was another major concern. There were several dark hairs on the bed and in the bathroom, and the bathroom bin hadn’t been emptied—it still contained used sanitary items. While the dust didn’t bother me personally, it could definitely be an issue for someone with allergies. The TV in our room also wasn’t working initially, though it was repaired the next morning.
What really unsettled me was the state of the bedding. Finding multiple hairs on the bedsheets was off-putting enough, but when I noticed a set of clean sheets placed on the chest of drawers in the hallway by our bedroom, it made me suspect that our room may have been missed entirely during the cleaning process. This was especially disappointing as we had clearly communicated our 16:00 check-in time.
