Geweldig

Zeer gastvrije eigenaresse die op iedere vraag inging. Heeft kaarten van omgeving en reisguides van San Antao als ook wandelboeken zijn aanwezig. Mogelijkheid tot eten in het hotel. Gemoedelijke sfeer.

Óptimo local de descanso para os dias de caminhadas no Vale do Paúl e Ponta do Sol

O alojamento está situado em frente ao mar, com vista para uma parte da baía de Vila das Pombas, e podemos ouvir as ondas durante a noite. Ao longo dos andares, há vários espaços onde os hóspedes podem relaxar, ler ou fazer ioga. O restaurante tinha comida deliciosa. A Liana foi super simpática, explicou-nos como chegar a vários trilhos e agilizou pedido de transporte ("colectivo") atempado.

O pequeno-almoço não estava incluído no preço (mas era muito bom!).

Beautiful and welcoming!

Staying at Black Mamba was such a great choice! I was traveling with my mother and sister and we absolutely had the best time there. The owner and staff are so welcoming and warm, they made us feel right at home! Also, the food is great and the location is also a plus. It is close to Vale do Paul and very easy catch the colectivos to other parts of the island. We definitely recommend staying here.

Everything went as expected and we hope to come back one day!

Great, friendly, family run place with a lot of character and community feel.

Great place with a lot of character. Room overlooking the ocean. Friendly, family vibe with the staff, owners, pets and other guests. The vibe is a bit like that of a backpackers' hostel except that you get your own room. Lots of character and cool fixtures and fittings and decoration.

The shower is not very warm or powerful. I ended up just using the sink in the end.

Exceptional

An absolutely must when visiting Santo Antao. Beautiful hostel, with an amazing atmosphere, and Liana, who is the owner was amazing. From the food to advise about where to go and what to do. It was a great base to go hiking in the area, and we ended up staying for 5 days. Absolutely, wholeheartedly recommend to stay here!

Loved it

Everything about this place is fantastic. Liana and her staff were charming and helpful, the food was delicious, beer was cold, the facilities are great, location is close to perfect and even the cat was pretty cool. I called it home for 3 nights and would have gladly stayed longer if I could have. They also accept credit cards for a small fee (convenient and not common in CV). You can walk to town in 5 minutes. Liana will suggest excellent hikes that are not commonly known, as well as good spots to eat and drink.

This is not a criticism, it's a caveat: Black Mamba is a lively place in a real local neighborhood. Expect roosters in the morning, football matches on the dusty pitch in the evenings, neighbors chatting outside and the sound of the ocean to lull you to sleep at night. It may not be the best choice for someone who's looking for a very quiet respite or absolute privacy. I wasn't -- I wanted a place with soul. It has plenty.

A gem with a great host! makes you connect with the place

The owner is making everything to ensure you are happy but she is not pretending. also a great cook! Super clean, great location and aesthetics

Not bad

Good location, nice that breakfast was provided. Owner helpful in telling you how to get around.

If you sleep light it is loud (waves, and lots of animals making noises outside). Cats often jumped on the table while you were eating.

A quirky and welcoming place to stay whilst exploring breathtaking walks in the lush Paul valley.

Liana is such an inspiration and is passionate about giving her guests the best experience of Santo Antao. Her hotel is welcoming, quirky, characterful and very comfortable. The food is home cooked and it was a joy to have such excellent vegetarian meals during our stay. Liana gave us great advice for a trek nearby which was absolutely amazing. Thank you Black Mamba team.

Unique experience

Liana is a great host. Her cooking is amazing and the staff and herself are helpful and give you tip for hikes and more. Breakfast is also good. I definetly recommend it's a great experience.

Superb

The room was really cosy with a good view of the neighbourhood. A lot of common areas to meet other people and work if necessary. It's super close to the ocean so you wake up listening to the waves :)

Beautiful and creative decoration, both in the shared areas as in the room.very friendly and helpful stuff

The shower (the actual shower head) wasn't great. The bathroom was only separated from the bedroom by a half height door.

great location for hiking all across northern and eastern and Santo Antao. Manager is lovely and has fantastic advice on where to go walking and how to plan days. also she went above and beyond to sort out things for the stay.

Beautiful, familiar house, with easy access to hiking trails and accessible to the whole island.

Liana and the staff made us feel so at home during our stay. They were helpful and created an environment where all the guests could get to know one another, especially over the delicious food and drinks in the restaurant. When I wasn’t feeling well one day, they went above and beyond to help me recover; it was like staying with family.

MUST stay destination in Santo Antao

This place is a must stay in Santo Antao. Great for solo hikers or groups. The host Liana is LOVELY and will make you feel right at home straight away, she helped me plan hikes that I'll never forget!! They also make amazing homemade Italian food whilst you're there i.e. Pizza, ravioli etc. Room was brilliant too, I slept very well in my double bed with en suite!

Very little! The only thing I would recommend is maybe a chalkboard with what is on for breakfast and dinner that day so travellers can decide in their own time but other than that, perfect!

Cozy Beachy layedback small hotel.

Location is really nice. Easy to get to, right in front of the sea. Liana the owner, is very cool and makes you feel right at home. The breakfirst made with local ingridients was wonderful.

Some local dogs barking to the waves at night almost made me jump out of bed and go down there to shush them! 😂 They eventually quieted down..

Staff was amazing and helpfull, mystic experience the rooms. We stayed in the toner higly reccomemded. Also, the location is great for when you start the hikes in the morning. Food also is great, big portions and tasty. We left a piece of our hearts there. Will be back for sure in the future.

It is situated near the trails and beautiful valleys, in the green part of the island. The view from the room and the terrace was perfect and you wake up each morning with the sound of the vawes. Breakfast was really nice, always with the fresh fruit. Wifi was a bit shaky in the room, but on the terrace and in the restaurant downstairs was good. The host, Liana, is very friendy and helpful and she makes the best home made pasta and appetizers on the island. I would definitely recommend Black Mamba to everyone visiting Santo Antao.

Liana was extremely helpful which we appreciated a lot. Even though we were only there 1 night we got tonnes of advice on what hikes to do, she organised transport for us and the food was really great. We ended up doing a hike which wasn't on any of the blogs we read which made it special also. We had homemade pasta which was really fresh and tasty. The breakfast was also very good. Black Mamba was really cool, nice little bar dining area downstairs and our room was special and different. Exactly what we were looking for. Overall great value for money. Biggest take away was how helpful Liana was. Thank you Liana, will be recommending friends to come here :)

Great breakfast, Liana is an amazing host, the rooms are lovely and so is the city. The property looks like an adult tree house which we loved.

Everything was great, maybe in the future it'd be better to have a bill at the end of dinners to know how much one has spent, but the management is so great I'm sure they'd take everything on board.
