The Riad was like walking into a space set back in time with beautifully curated objects that made the space feel extravagant, film like and homely. If you are interested in staying in a place that has a vintage curated feel to it...this is it!!
The courtyard was where we spent most of our time when we weren't out discovering the city.
It's a peaceful place to chill after a continental breakfast. The Moroccan pancakes are so good!!
We often sat by the pool, drinking fresh coffee or mint tea (free upon request or often offered by our hosts)
A good place to read and cool off in the pool - (deep end around 180cm)
We spent some relaxing evenings playing card games in the courtyard or cooled off in the pool after a long day in the sun.
Our host's were very attentive and very engaging, made us feel welcome and at home.
My room directly overlooked the pool - Superior double - Such a beautiful dark, cosy room with vaulted, hand painted ceiling. The room stayed cool during the nights without the air con needing to be on.
A very comfortable kingsize metal four poster bed.
Good sized bathroom with walk in shower (quite modern compared to the rest of the room)
I loved waking up and opening the curtains...with the view to the courtyard...i often sat by the window with my book before heading down to breakfast.
The Riad is a perfect location to the souks, Jemaa el-Fnaa square and other attractions within the walled city.
We had the best time staying here, mainly because we were made to feel at home.
The Riad is a short walk to the entrance of the walled city. Which is situated on Avenue Fatima Zohra.
This made getting taxi's and booked rides easier to find as we always just said to meet by the big gate, that turns into Rue Sidi El Yamani.
We would Definitely book to stay again.
We went early September and the air was very dry and dusty. (no rain and most days reaching 40degrees.
I think the tables surrounding the pool in the open air courtyard often became quite dusty from the city.
I found myself needing to wipe a table with tissues before being able to use it for card games etc.
However all tables for breakfast were freshly laid with clean table cloths and tableware.

Very beautiful, cool Riad
The Riad staff were of limited assistance when we arrived and a local was insisting on an exorbitant tip for helping carry bags

A beautiful riad in the heart of the souks, perfect for browsing, shopping, haggling, visiting places like Jemaa al fna Square and mosques. You can shop all day and party all evening on one of the many local rooftop bars/restaurants.
The staff were all so polite and happy to serve. Breakfast was plentiful and always something to suit everyone's differing tastes. The plunge pool was perfect to cool off after a day exploring too.
Our pre booked taxi struggled to find this place, or at least know which one he was going to (as apparently there is more than one Riad Lyla) and no one picked up the phone despite several phone calls and messages. I will add a photo of where to ask to be dropped off to help others in the future. You need to walk the last 3 minutes as cars are not permitted in the souks area. But it is very straight forward and adds to the charm of the place
