This is really a Japanese-style hotel: floors covered with tatami, you are asked to remove shoes at the entrance door and store them in lockers. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable, the bedroom is equipped with the European beds (very comfortable), and you have an option to use futons in the tea room. Onsen is marvelous and is available from early morning until midnight, the lobby area has a great mountain view. The staff is mostly helpful. Japanese-style breakfast and Kaiseki dinner (must be booked separately) are an additional valuable experience.
The hotel is located (though not far), but uphill from the station, reaching by foot might be challenging. Taxi/bus are recommended. They also warn you that the doors will be completely closed by midnight, so please make sure to return before that time :). We never tried it ourselves, but potentially this may cause inconvenience.

The hotel is beautiful. We booked a Japanese style room. It was stunning.
The only problem we had that there was no shower in the room. Only open public onsen that you can use.

Peaceful and a taste of traditional Japanese.
We liked that the staff made a great effort to help us and to teach us about staying at a Ryokan.
