Location in respect to accessing trails and Mt Cook. Ample parking, friendly knowledgeable staff, getting from Lodge to Hermitage Hotel main building, Alpine Restaurant excellent banquet, modern room, very clean room, comfy beds.
The Lodge rooms are snug and lack facilities for a simple breakfast ie have basic coffee, tea but no toaster necessitating the purchase of all meals, fridge not cold and very small, no ability to watch pay TV only free to air, $95 a head in Alpine restaurant hexy but extremely well appointed.

The receptionist told us to check the Google ourselves when we asked her if anything to suggest to do in that area or where were the buffet restaurant. We would expect her to make us feel welcome and show us the activities available around there.

Location.
The room wasn’t ready even though we were well after check in time, no apology just told to come back in 15 minutes. The bed sheet wasn’t all the way to the bottom of the bed. The food was terrible at chamois bar and grill. I was astounded when the bar staff advised they had no Pinot noir. I mean this is New Zealand, some of the best Pinot noir in the world! How can they have none!
