This was our third time staying at Alam Indah, and somehow it still feels like coming home.
There is something very special about this place. Set in a lush tropical jungle, surrounded by monkeys, geckos, lizards, frogs and so much greenery, Alam Indah has a way of slowing you down and bringing you inward. In the evening, when the frogs and geckos begin their little rituals, you really feel completely immersed in nature.
The hotel itself has so much soul. It is spacious and spread across beautiful grounds, yet somehow remains incredibly intimate. The traditional Indonesian architecture and older details give it a character that many newer hotels simply don’t have. The rooms are large, comfortable and have everything you need, but for me the real beauty is the atmosphere.
The staff are exceptionally kind, calm and caring. You can genuinely feel how much everyone looks after this place — the gardens, the surroundings and the guests — with love and attention. It creates a feeling of peace that is difficult to describe until you experience it.
The area around Alam Indah has also developed a lot since our previous visits, with lovely little cafés, spas, boutiques and shops opening nearby, as well as InMovement Yoga and other yoga studios. It’s now really nice to wander out for breakfast or coffee too — Café Lilu is an absolute must.
Alam Indah isn’t a shiny, modern resort, and that is exactly why I love it. It has history, character and a soul. A place where you can come back to yourself, feel close to nature and simply be.
Third visit, and definitely not our last. 🤍

Staff was very kind and helpful, location straight out of the monkey forest (nice to see monkeys roaming around in the morning)
The property would need renovation and some better cleaning, the price was too high for what was offered

I had such a lovely stay here and I would definitely return. Beautiful gardens. My room (coconut) was huge, bed was comfortable, and I enjoyed lying on the day bed with the jungle garden view. Staff were so helpful and the shuttle was so helpful getting around. Food was delicious. I enjoyed staying in the peaceful village, restaurants etc in a few minutes walk) in the jungle feel by the monkey forest. The on demand shuttle was so useful and meant I could have a peaceful location and easy access to town centre
Not issues for me but worth knowing. You are in a jungle garden right by the monkey forest so yes there are monkeys and insects. It is a little bit of a walk into ubud, past the monkeys) and if a car is available they will shuttle you around the town centre with minimal notice by text. I used this several times. Though the ubud traffic can make any car journey slower.
