I needed to book on very short notice, so it was a lucky coincidence I ended up at Avondale House. Although I was too early and was prepared to wait outside, Sue came out and invited me in. She is a loveley host! My room was located towards the busy road, but during the night it was really quiet. The for-poster-bed was comfortable, so I had a good night sleep. I really loved the cosy and somewhat quirky room, because the bathtub and sink were located in the room. Only the toilet was seperate and down the hallway. Everything was spotless. The breakfast was good, too!

It was in a convent location and our late arrival was able to be accommodated. The room was warm and clean. Breakfast was sizeable.

There was no mention of our room ( double with four poster bed) being negative a toilet. It is advertised as with a private bathroom, which technically is correct as the bath is in the bedroom but the toilet is outside the room across the hall not ideal. The listing should be amended to make it more honest. Breakfast is cash only so make sure to have that with you.
