My husband and I stayed for 3 weeks and we really enjoyed our stay. We were able to relax and we visited a bunch of sites. Progresso is full of restaurants and you can get all the groceries you desire and more is available at Merida. Seaweed is present but it's the same everywhere in Mexico this year. Host is very nice, responsive and gives great information.

House and property are just as described. Perfect place to get away from it all. This is not a resort area, but awesome area to set back and read or meditate.
A car might be considered necessary, but the drive into Progreso is quick and easy.
Communication with Violet was great.
Master bedroom has ac, but never used it. Perfect to let the breeze blow in and listen to the waves at night.
Would love to return one day.

The house and location are the best if you want ocean front with plenty of room.
But, the beach area was covered in about 30"d sargassum and the water's edge was thick with it. Maybe time of year? It went down a little after a few days but there was a Lot. You cant walk very far down the beach because there's areas its just too think to get thru. And it stinks a bit, right?
That cant be controlled of course, but that info should be shared.
The outdoor area has no place to laze about in the sun. There are a couple of those wacky fiberglass (?) molded lounger things that are really uncomfortable so I'm not counting those. Cant lay in/on them and they sit right on the ground.
There isn't much to do here, no games or cards or books or people staying nearby. It was so dead. Again, time of year thing? Or always? Don't know...
It would be nice if there was some glasses that were glass or plates and bowls that could go in the microwave - everything was plastic.
The couple managing are lovely and very helpful. It was nice that they supplied a huge jug of water.
Its quiet and remote and calm and beautiful and very spacious. We just couldn't enjoy the beach, go in the water or laze in the sun. (again, time of year??)

Our family enjoyed visiting the beach. Violeta was very helpful with information, and communication. After missing a connecting flight, and getting in very early in the morning she was accommodating to get us the keys. She checked in with us to make sure we found everything we needed and if we needed anything.
We found the house was clean and had the basics, as listed. The a/c worked well in all the bedrooms.
The home is quite a drive from Progresso, so make sure you stock up on groceries before getting there. But once you arrive, you won't want to leave, and you don't need to leave to go to the beach. We enjoyed the privateness of the home, and could step out of the home to the beach and ocean. We loved to watch the sunrise and sunsets!
There is some construction going on at the home next door. Sometimes we could hear them and other times we never noticed them. We lost power for a couple of hours one day. We found out that this does happen here and there.
Check out was easy.

Hosts were lovely, house was beautiful and the beach that was 10 steps from the house was glorious. The house was equiped with everything you could need and Viloet provided with some new kitchen supplies on arrival. We enjoyed our stay and look formward to coming back.

Violeta was away during our stay but was attentive and available via Whatsapp. Rodolpho (caretaker) was offsite but responded quickly in person to the few questions we had. Excellent stay!

The house is well located and easy to find. A large entrance way brings you to a small living area, dining area and the around to the kitchen. A bedroom and separate bathroom finish off the main floor. The upstairs has 3 other bedrooms with ensuites, including the principle bedroom which shares a small balcony with another bedroom.
The main patio area is perfect and where we spent much of our time. It is covered to provide much needed shade. There are areas where you can also seek out the sun. The pool is smaller but very refreshing to dip in. It's not large enough to swim but plenty of room to float and cool off. From the pool area is a gate with steps down to the sand and beachfront. It is an unobstructed view to the sea. There are places to hang hammocks on the patio (none are provided) and a clothes line as well as a charcoal bbq just off of the kitchen.
The house is perfectly comfortable for a short term stay, we would definitely consider renting again.

This property was very well located, and although there are now 2 houses adjoing to the west that were not there before, they do not really interfer with the view to the west, At night, one can see the long pier in Progreso. To the east, the view is still completely open, and one can walk in either direction on a lovely wide stretch of beach for a very long way seeing only an occasional person around.
There are tons of shells, and a fascinating low tide sand ripple formation about a K to the east, on a small part of the beach where a point has formed. We photographed this area, and found that the ripple varied quite a bit from day to day, and wished we could have stayed for longer to continue observing this pattern. (We were there for 18 days, and the tides were very high)
The house is well constructed and well kept, and we found the layout very pleasing, with ample kitchen area, and WONDERFUL pots and pans to cook with. Bedding is also ample. House was very clean on arrival, and the kitchen was immaculate; dishware, pots and pans included.
We had a very enjoyable time in our 18 days, with wonderful sunrises and sets, and some great full moon shots with Mars directly below it, and I am sure we will go back if available in future.
The owner Violeta was really great to work with, and it was a pleasure to stay in their beach house.

We arrived with no problem locating the house. This is in a newer area of San Benito which is a more exclusive area outside of Progreso. We were greeted by Rodolfo who was super friendly and helpful for any needs we had. Remember you are renting a house so you will need to supply all your sundries(tp, paper towels, soap)and groceries, which is an easy pickup at the Bodega just in Progreso before you head East to the house. The house is beautiful and settled on the beach with an amazing view of the Gulf. In the mornings, the calm of the sea, and all the birds are so fun to watch. You can walk out into the gulf waste high for about 1/8 mile. The water is like bath water and there are fish everywhere! The shells are all over the beach. It’s lovely. The pool is changed out as needed and is clear and cool. Vincente the grounds keeper ensures all is well. It’s a quiet area and the last house on the end of the road. A short ways down the beach is an eco hotel where you can rent out wave runners, paddle boards, etc. We stayed for two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The host Violeta was very professional and responsive to any needs or questions we had and communicated immediately to Rodolfo to assist us. The beds were comfortable and the afternoon breeze is a lovely change to a hot day in the sun. The house is much larger than we envisioned which was a lovely surprise. We fell in love with the area mostly because of this lovely home. There are so many things you can do in all directions- pyramids, fishing villages, flamingos, cenotes, and Merida (40 Mins away) is the oldest city in Mexico. You can shop at Costco or spend the afternoon in el Centro, taking in the old structures or the Many restaurants and shops. We highly recommend you stay here. We certainly will be returning! Thank you for a wonderful vacation in San Benito.

Great place to relax and enjoy the beach. The host was very accommodating Which made our stay pleasant. Violet would also send us updates on upcoming events and kept us informed of happenings around the neighborhood.
Would definitely recommend this property for your stay.

Violet and Jorge were wonderful hosts. The house is spacious and very clean. Bedrooms are large with 3 of the 4 having ensuites. Very large patio with a pool and a sandy area next to the pool. Beach is only a few steps down from the pool. The kitchen has a large fridge, gas stove and plenty of cabinets. Just down the beach is a nice restaurant in a resort. Car is needed for grocery shopping. Highly recommend this property. You'll never want to leave.

I found the property to be very uncomfortable - beds are hard, no view of the gulf, there are sticks in the cement walk that prevent you from seeing the beach. No A/C in the bedrooms, the air was so still the first night we were there, we could not sleep. The ceiling fans were not any help. (No floor fans available) The pool is a 10x10 dipping pool. Half of that is a wading pool. No sure how they took pictures of the gulf and pool. There is a bistro set on the patio but you could not spend the day in comfort out there - there is no other furniture outside. Also, there is no internet. We found another house nearby for the same price with A/C. Internet, and 40x12 filtered pool, and a great view of the gulf with nice outdoor furniture. In the owner's defense, she states in the contract "No refund" - She is a woman of her word. All I'm saying in this review is read all the descriptions and make sure you are not confused by reading all the ads. You can easily become confused. Before you rent, take your list of what you want in your vacation rental and check it off with the ad, and with the owner in writing before you give up your hard-earned money. The Yucatan is a magicalplace and I will visit again - I will use a local property manager to rent from again. You do have some recourse with them.

We spent 3 weeks in february 2013 at this location, just two of us on a romantic escapade. If you are looking for privacy this is the place as there are no neighbours close by and very few people walking on the beach. The house has a fabulous covered porch overlooking the pool and the Gulf of Mexico....each morning we'd have a coffee staring out on the horizon. No construction nearby, and a brand new marina just opened up 2 minutes away, renting windsurfing boards and catamarans. There is an endless parade of pelicans and seagulls diving for unsuspecting fish all over the place.
The master bedroom is quite nice and spacious, bed is hard by our standards so I suggest a memory foam mattress topper to get a good night rest. The living room is comfortable, the kitchen old but functional. The pool is small but very refreshing, though the water is not filtered but flushed every week along with chlorine pucks. There is a constant breeze that fills the house day and night. Not a moment did we not feel safe despite Mexico's crime situation. Lots of police presence on the highways through checkpoints; always let us pass with a smile. Walter, the housekeeper, is a very nice man and even though my broken Spanish met his lack of English, we managed to communicate effectively. Internet service through a Telcel USB stick on the laptop is marginal and slow, don't expect Skype to work. Progreso is 25 km away, Merida 60 km away. The beach is endless but litterally covered with seaweeds, apparently normal in the winter. Bring bugspray for beach walking as sand fleas are present. The slope into the water is super gentle and fully sand covered with a sandbar near surface about 100 meters away.
Overall we had a fantastic stay and will renew this experience every winter :)

Quite simply a stunning home and right on the beach. We were given a warm welcome by the caretaker and his family when we arrived. The house and pool are so well designed and so tastefully decorated that we often felt we were guests at a hotel.
From this gorgeous "home" we ventured to Merida, to the ruins at Uxmal, the ruins at Dzibilatchun, and to see the flamingos at Celestun. Progreso is the nearest town with restaurants and a grocery stores.
I ABSOLUTELY recommend this house. It is a very quiet spot -- a few Canadian and American retirees, but many of the rental houses seemed to be used only by local vacationers in the summer. Perfect for those who want to have a very peaceful location with opportunities for day trips throughout the Yucatan.
Oh, and the weather is perfect.Hot in the mornings and especially if you like a breeze off the ocean in the afternoon. Lets not mention the shells! If you collect these you can spend your entire moring collecting. Awesome for kids!
Wish these two AWESOME weeks can last a life time......we will be back to continue to build awesome memories for our family in the awesome beach retreat.

Beautiful home in great location for those who want to get away from it all. Home exceeded our expectations. The property was clean, and Walter was very attentive to our care and safety. One problem is we have not received our security deposit back. Owner was contacted 4 weeks after we returned home and they said check was placed in the mail. A after a 3 week wait I contacted owner and told them we still had not received the check and suggested they place a stop payment on the check and mail another one. They replied they would do that and mail another check that day. Now after another 3 week wait we still have not received the check.

This is a great place to stay. We travel frequently and usually are ready to go home in a weeks time but after spending a month at Maya House we did not want to leave. It had become home. Everything you need to be comfy is there.
Inexpensive - dining out, attractions etc. The shoreline is endless beautiful in the morning - so many birds Pelicans ect. to watch. Fisherman far away bringing in fish with the nets. Early evening again endless shoreline with beautiful sunset and differnt wildlife to observe and lets not forget the sunny inviting rest of the day. We will return very soon and this is where we will stay, it is now home for us in Mexico.

We just wanted to let you both know how much we enjoyed our stay at Maya House, and wanted to share this on your website for future guests. We had booked a house in Uaymitun that was not what was advertised. Upon checking the Maya House calendar and seeing availability we contacted the owners. They were great and easy to work with. They speak and write perfect English which makes it communication also very easy. We went to see the house and fell in love with it.
It is Immaculate!! – Just like the web says - sparkling and well situated right on the beach.
The owners made our transaction very easy and everything was as explained and more. It really saved our vacation. Not only was it sparkling clean but a lovely home. We spent every morning having coffee watching the day unfold … flocks of pelicans, Flamingos, Sandpipers, Horseshoe Crab, and whatever else the tide brought in while the children played in the white sand. This house has new furniture and all the basics you need for a stay away from home. We had SKY TV, arranged a fishing trip and the caretakers even made us a traditional home meal. It was more than we could expect! We enjoyed it so much we ended up staying some extra nights.
Thank you for saving our vacation.
Thank you for everything!
We expect to be back very soon!

Wow! I cant say enough about how lovely this home is. Just committed for a three week rental this summer-again. Glad to see reviews are now available for travelers to share their experience. We spent the entire month of July here last year and are looking forward to our time again this summer. The tropical furnishings are really lovely and everything was so new and clean. We also really liked the pool facing the beach. We loved the pool and the outdoor living area - it is spectacular... WOW what views.
