Excellent, central location, yet tucked away from the bustle. A building with real character, original fireplaces, a peaceful courtyard and a family vibe. I’ve never before stayed in a chambre d’Hote where all guest had access to a shared fridge with unlimited beverages including sparkling wine, pastis and soft drinks. Many many small touches like a note block in the room, good crockery, fans/suncream/umbrellas to borrow.
Not the properties fault as it was a heatwave but the rooms were warm.

It's very quirky and handy for the town of Sarlat.
There was a festival in Sarlat the weekend we stayed. That meant all the roads were closed and parking was an absolute nightmare. The lady running the hotel was aware of it but didn't trouble to forewarn us.
Also, the bedroom was up a very tight spiral staircase. There was a thick rope (bannister) but it had come loose and couldn't be used. The property would be entirely unsuitable to anyone with mobility issues.
There is a restaurant of the same name further down the hill and they didn't provide directions to the hotel, perhaps La Lanterne should make themselves better known.
