It was a highly unpleasant experience with a very unprofessional owner.

The heater was broken and the owner refused to send someone to fix it or bring more blankets since there was only a thin summer blanket left with no extras in the middle of December. It was impossible to sleep in the apartment since it was -8 degrees weather and the owner simply didn’t reply to our massages.

Location is near a pizza place, gas station and supermarkets and close to bus station.Room is big, stove, coffee filter, fridge

Second time here, last time 3 years ago was better.I booked 2 nights, arrived, took the key from key box, all good.Inside: stinking of cigarette smoke like crazy, tables burned bi cigarette, smelled like a bar.Dust and stains everywhere.Beds were dirty and linen with holes and stains.It was like in the middle ages.WC was filled with black dust or something, poor cutlery and dishes.One window was not closing -2 degrees C at night I slept with my clothes on.I told that to the host, but no answer. Night1: somebody got drunk and played with doorbells of the entire building, yelling and drinking and singing on the stairway up to 3 am Night 2: again noise, strange shady people smoking in and out of the building 6 am somebody knocked and rang the doorbell, couldn't sleep.no answer from the host Terrible neighbours, noise, dirty room, I'll never come back.133 Eur spent for nothing just the roof above my head

the apartment is not recommended at all. the apartment had 2 heaters one of them wasn't working!!... and when I arrived there the toilet was blocked and I called the land owners to fix it.. also the hot water doesn't work all the time especially at night as I paid 5 euros per night for the heaters and hot water!! very bad, not recommended at all, won't go there again.

Accommodation pictures and facilities offered are untrue. Concerns throughout stay..

Location was good. Easy access to autobahn and situated on a tidy neighbourhood road. Access to small supermarkets nearby, within walking distance if needed (Lidl/Edeka) and very close to service stations for fuel. Quiet environment with not alot of road traffic. Friendly members of the public who we stopped and spoke with when they noticed we had travelled from the UK. Although property states no parking included, we were able to park outside the property off road in allocated spaces with no concerns. Very large balcony area which overlooked a small garden area and trees, very private. Neighbours who were staying in property (approximately 18 apartments at a guess) were all quiet apart from only one morning on the weekend but not really an issue.

I have sent a private email to booking.com customer service highlighting some issues we had during our stay. The property was accessed with no concerns and on the day there was a change in plan to access but our host updated us with very clear instructions, this was not an issue. Our problems commenced on arrival. I booked time off work and discussed with my father regarding a trip to visit my grandmother. Initially we looked at previous bookings we had made in Essen however they were booked for the dates we needed. After some time we came across this apartment and found it was what we needed and appeared clean and ideal for our stay. We were met by an unclean entrance to the property ( cleaning items and rubbish outside the apartment entrance) see picture. Difficulty contacting host with concerns-customer service utilsed many times but they also had problems with contact. Wifi is offered but throughout the property but nil instruction which username and only able to connect once during stay, I contacted the property and customer service to be informed it was a “problem with my phone” thus incurring a large phone bill on return home to the UK. Very, very basic equipment provided, all of which needed boil washing prior to usage. Chipped coffee/tea cups, dirty plates and glasses and two brand new still in packaging Ikea saucepans. One frying pan. No chopping board. A cracked electric hob to the large ring which was both dangerous and sharp and unusable. We were provided one used washing up sponge, a dishcloth which had been used and half a bottle of washing up liquid. Two tea towels which both had a musty, unclean odour. The kitchen and bathroom area required cleaning prior to using. The fridge also had an unclean food musty smell which had not been cleaned properly. The bath towels which had been provided on the THREE beds (a bunk bed and a single bed, not what was originally booked) were again, had an unclean musty odour resulting in us having to purchase bath

I love the location!

WIFI was perfect!

It took us 50 minutes to check in. We weren't expected by the host. The host seemed to be just one of the people who permanently lives in the building and he normally receives information who is comming. Unfortunately in our case, he told us he hadn't received 'the planning', every apartment was taken, and so he couldn't help us. They were an awful 50 minutes for me and my two children! From the moment where there seemed to be one room on the top floor for us anyway, everything has been wonderful. I would love to come back some time, although we are afraid the same thing will happen again, when we arrive.
