About this cottage rental
West Cottage was built around 1870 as a typical croft house with a byre beside it but gradually deteriorated during the 1990s until it was in danger of becoming derelict. In 2007 the old cottage was stripped back to the stone shell; it was re-roofed and completely refurbished to a very high standard and a large living-room was built on the end of the old house on the site of the former byre. The cottage offers comfortable accommodation over 2 floors. The living room, kitchen/dining and double bedroom with en-suite shower are on the ground floor with a further double bedroom, twin room and bathroom upstairs. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The living room has well-stocked book shelves, a wood burning stove and a colour TV. There is wifi throughout the house.

I don't think words can ever adequately express how perfect this house is! The house is spacious and yet cozy, the views from every window are spectacular, Helen and Frank are wonderful hosts, and the location is perfect -- just slightly off the tourist trail in the beautiful area of Sleat. The only regret I have is not booking this house for our entire trip, but we will be back!!
