Casa Ricky's

This was a truly backpacker style accommodation, which we liked very much. It had a great communal area with a kitchen and everything you need. It was situated over a beer shop, which was great for an ice-cold beer at a very low price. The staff were very friendly and the accommodation was only a very short walk to the bus station.

We had a problem getting out of the room as the door lock jammed. Which was a little traumatic early in the morning whilst trying to get to the bathroom. The owner promised to fix it immediately, so it should not be a problem for anyone else. There was not much to do in Orange walk, the view near the bridge over the River into the forest was stunning and a must see, but there was a lot of rubbish laying around in the park and food packages floating down the river. In the evening, there was nothing to do and everything was closed, there were also some pretty dodgy people hanging around the market area.

Probably the most considerate owner you'll encounter. Great location, a few blocks from the centre. Comfortable, clean room. Ricky will fix up a tour to Lamanai, definitely worth it.

It was ok for 1 night.

I tried to communicate with the owner/manager weeks in advance prior to my arrival in Orange Walk so to set up a tour to Lamanai but he never responded. Wrote him via WhatsApp so to set up a tour to Lamanai, ended up finding a tour company on my own. The price of the room does not match what you are getting in the end but then again this is Belize, there's basically no relation between what you pay and what you get in the end. There's Nothing in Orange Walk, but if you come here Lamanai is totally worth it. Ricky's place has potential but needs investment and care.. It's more on the run down side.
