About this house rental
Nestled in Menlo Park, this charming house for $351 per night is a great option for your next vacation. Owner managed. We strive to serve you and provide an attentive-yet private stay in our house. We are available 24/7. Air conditioned, Mid Century Modern 2 Bedroom with 2 ensuite bathrooms, new HVAC system, large patio, lawn and garden. Three day reservation requirement. Thirty+ day reservations considered with 20% discount, please inquire. The house is a perfect place to call home in the Bay Area. We deep clean and sanitize between guests. Our cottage is completely remodeled in a quiet neighborhood yet very close to hospitals, Universities and tech industry. Kitchen and bathrooms have heated floors and towel warmers. The primary bedroom has a new king bed and en-suite bathroom with no-threshold shower lit by Brazilian labradorite granite. Additional bedroom has new Queen bed and en-suite bathroom with shower over tub. Lovely private garden is completely fenced. Convenient to CalTrain, all freeways, Stanford, Menlo Park, & Palo Alto. Our home has been extensively renovated with alarm system, heat, aircon, and high-end kitchen appliances. There is a pantry/laundry shed off the kitchen with new W/D with sanitize settings and extra fridge. This house is perfect for healthcare workers, families with children, faculty, or finance and tech consultants. The two queen bedrooms are at opposite ends of the house, which works well for sharing the house with family and friends. The living room, dining room and kitchen in the center of the home. Bedrooms have medium firm, top quality, queen mattresses and organic linens. Both bathrooms have been completely remodeled. One with shower over tub, the other bathroom has a walk in, no threshold shower and lighted granite niche. Large, fenced, completely private lawn, garden and patio with South and West exposure. Perfect for watching the sunset. There is an outdoor shower and large soaking tub (AKA horse trough) with water that drains on fruit trees. Kids and pets welcome with their lovely owners. Off street parking for 4 cars right in front of house, and one lockable parking space behind front gate. New fiber optic Internet connection and air purifier with Heppa filter. Security system. Pet fee $50- $200 per pet per week on case by case basis. Our neighborhood is friendly and mostly single family homes.Groceries and restaurants deliver food. Very convenient to local markets, Costco, Safeway, and many restaurants, wine bars, breweries, and bike trails.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay in early August of 2023, and hope to come back again.
The location was perfect for our stay, located in the midst of many relatives.
The yard is beautiful and our dogs were very comfortable in it.
The house is clean, well maintained, and well furnished.

Joanie was fantastic in communications from booking her property to checking out. She went ABOVE and BEYOND of any VRBO host I have dealt with. We travel alot and only use VRBO's. This home is layed out nice for two couples. Bedroom and baths on opposite ends of house. Parking for 3-4 cars if need be. Home is quaint, clean and very comfortable to be in. The backyard was perfect for our mini bernie doodle. Lush, Private and peaceful. Very close to Stanford which was our reason for staying here. I would give more than 5 but 5 is our max on this page.

We had a 'staycation' here over the July 4 holiday, because our neighborhood in a nearby city is like a war zone with fireworks going off right outside in all directions.
This property was so lovely and well appointed, the quality of everything exceeded all expectations. We literally went nowhere during our stay and enjoyed most of our time in the yard while my very elderly dog napped on the grass. It was wonderful to simply 'be' and relax and not have to worry about anything. Groceries and takeout and even an emergency vet ( not needed ) are conveniently nearby, our stay couldn't have been simpler. Check in and communication were great, too.
I'd definitely recommend this lovely home to friends and family. If need be we'll be back again!

Joanie graciously made her cottage available to us the next day well before the regular check-in time. We were pretty stressed out by our situation, but the cottage put us at ease. It was so cute, cozy, inviting, and accommodating. Joanie made sure it had everything we needed and then some. She was the best host and really made us feel like somebody cared. We loved eating, lounging, and playing in the backyard. And enjoyed all of the fantastic upgrades inside. It’s in an older section of Redwood City, and the neighbors were very friendly. I would highly recommend this great little getaway. Thanks again for everything, Joanie!!!

The renter was responsive and helpful. We were able to stay here while my daughter recuperated from surgery at Stanford. A lovely little home with a quiet neighborhood, flourishing back yard, cute kitchen, and comfortable living rooms and bedrooms. If we’re ever back this way, I’ll definitely rent again.

I was in the Bay Area for work and this was the perfect location near the office, with a doggy daycare on the way (Wag in RWC). The backyard was perfect for the dog and super nice for the humans too. The house is very comfortable. Love all the windows in the master bedroom. The only add I would have is a king bed for the master. Small issue with ants, but easily resolved with a few more traps. Will be staying here again on my next trip to the office (if available!). Thank you!

This home fit our needs perfectly. Beautiful home with an oasis of a back yard. We drove down from MT in our 31 ft RV and wanted a break and have a little more room to stretch out. It had perfect spot for our RV to park. Markets and restaurants within walking distance. Lots of good communication with Joanie, she was very helpful. We attended 2 concerts at Shoreline and this home was close and convenient. Our dogs loved the yard as did we. We hope to come stay again.

We were able to experience a comfortable, wonderful stay over a busy college graduation weekend. The home was perfect for an outdoor daytime celebration, with everyone saying, “How did you find such a perfect house?” Joanie and Mark are terrific hosts - the home has everything you could ever want. Convenient location, great amenities, perfect for a short stay or a long stay. It truly felt like home and we feel so lucky to have been able to celebrate our college graduates at this truly special house. Thank you.

We needed a home for my mom to recover from knee surgery that would be comfortable for my parents and their dog. What a great house and an amazing fully fenced yard. The house was perfect for them and they had a great stay. The owners were awesome too. Great communicators and easy check in and check out. Would definitely recommend. Only suggestion is to provide cable TV or more streaming services.

Came up to stay while helping family members with a move in the area. The house was a welcome retreat, and had everything I needed. The garden was especially nice, and very peaceful in the mornings and evenings. Will stay here again.

I needed a place to stay while finding my daughter an apartment near Stanford. It was a very stressful process but coming home to Joanie’s cottage was such a relaxing treat. Her back yard law,/garden is so inviting and her lemon tree looks like it was selected from a fairy tale. Every day we would pick a few lemons for both our water and tea. Joanie was on top of everything and a wonderful host. I absolutely loved the fenced in backyard (as did my dog) and trees, grass, patio and flowers in the yard. Joanie had clear instructions for everything and had thought of all the details. I appreciated the little things like a new sponge and fabulous new washer and dryer since I stayed longer and did laundry a number of times while there. Easy drive to Stanford campus as well.

Joanie was an excellent host and the property was everything we were expecting! The home was beautifully remodeled with an amazing backyard. Heated floors and towel racks made mornings even better and there was a beautiful kitchen and living room as well. Can’t wait to stay again!

What a wonderful house and fabulous location for us and for our visit with our son, daughter and new grandson (4 blocks away from our son’s house). We felt really well taken care of in that Joanne left us coffee and breakfast items for our arrival seeing we were arriving after a very long day of driving across country to see our grandson. We also really appreciated having toiletries in the shower and the use of the washing machine/dryer.Thank you!

The home was more than we expected. It was clean and well-lit. The owner was available and responsive. But the surprise was the backyard. Fenced and very private with three lovely picnic areas. Fruit trees and flowers with hummingbirds and butterflies! Thanks so much.
