I gave it one star, but I could have given it none. The chef, Marius, is an excellent person. I called the hotel because we were going to arrive late and asked for a recommendation on where to eat in the area. Instead, he prepared a delicious dinner for us, and we had a very pleasant conversation. I asked him again where we could have dinner the following day, as it was my wife's birthday. He said he could prepare a special dinner for us, and we agreed.
The next evening, there was no one there. I called the mobile number listed at reception and spoke to him directly; he was at home. He told me the owner had cancelled the dinner. The owner called me later; his explanation was hard to believe, and his suggestion for making up for the mistake was inappropriate.
It’s a shame, because it somewhat ruined our celebratory weekend. There was nowhere left to have a birthday dinner on a Saturday at 8:30 PM.
Unacceptable.

Lots of parking.
Not quite what I was expecting Country House is a bit misleading.
No staff or other customers were there when we arrived.
Breakfast was extra. I won’t argue that I thought I had booked breakfast as maybe I hadn’t. But it is something I ensure is offered at the time of booking.
