About this house rental
Situated in Port Orford, this lovely house for $200 per night is a great option for your next trip. OTTER COVE is a 3 bedroom 1 bath lake front home with end of the road privacy. Knotty pine walls, wood floors, view windows all along the lake side. OTTER COVE sits 20 feet from the lake with trout fishing (stocked lake)with the lake on two sides. Port Orford is a small town of about 1500 and is the oldest town site on the southern Oregon Coast and is the the most westerly town in the lower 48 states. The ocean is about 1500 feet to the west and is easy access by car. OTTER COVE sleeps 8 and has a queen in the large master bedroom, 2 fulls or doubles in the 2nd bedroom and 2 twin TRUNDLE in the 3rd bedroom. Cable TV, WIFI, PELLET stove for heat, Gas BBQ. Newly remodeled kitchen and dining room and new laundry room summer of 2021. New living room carpeting spring 2021. Remodeling in progress. A normal day is to have some deer drop over to eat on the lawn, otters playing in the lake or on the dock or grass, ducks, geese, loons and some turtles a few Ospreys getting their lunch and even a bald eagle or two. You might see the foxes walk by or the local Bobcat. The crows will entertain you and steal anything they can outside. No close neighbors and a great view of our small arm of the lake and great fishing for trout and pike. OTTER COVE is not fancy but loved for it's cozy charm. Absolutely beautiful views from all rooms. Listening to the ocean in the distance was so relaxing . Love the pellets stove. Easy to use.

This house could not be in a better location. You are right next to the lake which is perfect for kayaking and paddle boarding. We saw so much wildlife in the cove in which the house is situated It is, also, just a short drive or walk to the beach. The house is a rustic cabin with comfy furniture and large bedrooms. If you want a quiet and cozy vacation this is a great house for you.

This is a very beautiful and peaceful location and the house is makes you feel at home. We saw a pair of otters near the dock one afternoon!

The bay windows in the bedroom, living room and kitchen allowed us a prime view of the lake, a few feet from the house. Each had sitting cushions from which you could read and enjoy the morning sun. We watched deer, raccoons, golden mantled ground squirrels and myriad birds including osprey. This home is definitely a getaway--the pace of life here is undeni

This place was perfect for us. So perfect we decided to change our wedding location from Cape Blanco to here! Beautiful views of the lake! The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. The pellet stove kept the place warm! Very comfortable beds and couches. We hope to return again! The only negative was the dock was broken. Otherwise the dogs had a blast!

This was our third time in this home, and every visit was a treat. The property is beautiful and peaceful, and fishing and boating on the lake are very relaxing. The home is very comfortable and has been outfitted with everything a family of many generations could ask for in the way of entertainment. An additional bonus is that it is dog-friendly, which is one of our primary requirements for rental homes. We couldn't ask for more!

My husband and I took our children as a surprise the morning after Christmas to the ocean. Being right next to the lake was a bonus. We brought fishing poles and they caught some! The house was very homey and comfortable sleeping my family easily. The kitchen was well stocked so we could prepare meals with ease. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!

The location was quite nice right on the lake. The house is old which I have no problem with but it was not clean it smelled of urine the rug needs to be clean professionally and they definitely need a curtain in the kitchen window when the sun comes in it’s blinding

Otter Cove is tucked away on the shores of Garrison Lake and is a very short drive to the beach or town. The beds were comfy, the kitchen well provisioned, and the living room ample with a full-on view of the lake.

We love the location and stayed before Kayak access is truck but we managed even with kids. There was a visiting critter which made us all change sleeping arrangements

Home is in process of remodeling. Insects were regular visitors. The home is not sealed up at all entrances so they do come in. The home is located on the lake with a dock that is unfortunately broken.
The kids found many salamanders in the water.

Beautiful location
My husband and I and our two dogs enjoyed our stay. You couldn’t be closer to the beautiful lake and we had excellent weather. Local hikes and stroll on the beach, puzzles and yummy local food were great. The beds were good and the house appears to be mid renovation but it didn’t disrupt our stay.

Peaceful stay in a Beautiful Spot
Our family stayed here for the second time and had a wonderful time. The spot is so quiet and serene, with lakefront views from large windows off of the living room, one bedroom, and dinning area. We spent a lot of our time just relaxing on the comfy couches and chairs and looking out at the view, watching birds go by and fish jump. There were a lots of puzzles provided and we did many of them while enjoying the view and the quiet.
There were lots of fish in the lake and our 6-year-old and his father spent a day fishing right off the backyard grassy area, and caught some large trout! We also brought our own inflatable boat and enjoyed paddling around the lake enjoying the scenery as well. We took a couple of little day trips while we were there and some walks around town, but the house was so comfy and relaxing that we spent a lot of our time just enjoying the peaceful setting. We saw an otter in the lake one day, and deer in the front yard. The beds were comfy, the kitchen had all the appliances we needed and a fair number of spices and staples. There were lots of little touches that made us feel that the home is cared for and the guest experience is important, and little extras like crayons and coloring books for kids, and lots of books and DVDs. We felt quite at-home here and had a wonderful time. We hope to be back one day!

Excellent location on Garrison Lake
The location and view are outstanding. Owners have put a lot of work into the property with an updated kitchen and bathroom completed. Final night was very windy and lots of rattling made sleeping a bit of a challenge. Nice not to have neighbors close by, would love to return in summer and enjoy more of the lake and Paradise Point beach.

We couldn't have been happier with Otter Cottage, wish we could have stayed longer! The home is very cozy with an amazing view of the lake. You feel like you are miles away from the world, but a short walk to the ocean and drive to town. Very relaxing, we can't wait to return!

A peaceful stay
Such a beautiful location. Spectacular view of Garrison lake. Right on the water. Beautiful views through large bay windows in the kitchen, living room, and master bedroom. Lots of birds to observe. Very comfortable space. Pellet stove for heat which needs to be filled a couple times a day to keep the heat on all night - we learned that quickly. Very private and peaceful. Highly recommended rental!

This truly comfortable, solid home is one of the most well-appointed rentals I've experienced in over thirty years of regular travel all over the world. The hosts and property managers have generously supplied every single thing to make a visit here feel more like you are being welcomed to a friend's house than staying in a sterile rental where the owners are so afraid of damage or theft that they do not provide quality items for your stay. I especially appreciate the extremely well stocked, quality kitchen equipment. The washer/dryer is a plus as well.
I stayed here for a week with my adult son, and he rose early to work. This is a solidly built house, and I was not bothered by noise (I am sure he made an effort to be quiet, yet, with the doors closed, noise transfer is minimal, even though this is a compact space overall).
Now for the magic of the lake and the wonderful experience of sitting by the bay windows (in both the living and master bedroom areas) on a moonlit night, watching the moon steadily rise over the glass smooth lake. With all the lights off in the house, sitting in the comfy chairs facing the bay windows looking out over the lake, one returns to the wonder of life. At all times of the day, the wonderful bird visitors, just as described, and other critters (including the two adorable fawns we saw), and the changing light and mood of the water is absolutely captivating and wonderful!
The beds are supremely firm and comfortable and the duvets and other linens are high quality and add to the overall feel of comfort and rest here.
Port Orford is an interesting town, in relatively easy reach of the vibrant Bandon, or Gold Beach, gateway to the wild, enchanting and historic Rogue River (Jerry's Jet Boats or a guided fishing trip recommended). There are some amazing hikes here in Port Orford, great beaches, and interesting history. Paradise Point Road goes directly to the beach. I really recommend a visit to Herban Farm, with truly homemade, hardy food with "fast food" convenience, a smile, and a sweet outdoor dining area. Great coffee at Battle Rock Drivethrough.
David is highly responsive and a fantastic communicator. He did everything possible to make our stay smooth and enjoyable. Overall one of the best vacations I have ever had!

Perfect location on a gorgeous lake
My wife and I (and cat) spent 3 nights at this lovely cottage on the lake. The views from the master bedroom and living room are spectacular! No other word for it. So serene and calming. The bed was comfy (we only used the master), the kitchen was more than adequate. The pellet stove heater worked very well and kept us toasty. We brought an inflatable boat and spent some time on the water fishing and just floating. Caught one trout but could have caught plenty more. Saw lots of wildlife. Highly recommend this rental.
