Hiouchi Motel

Admittedly, I was originally skeptical about this place being a motel away from the city and skeptical about the adjacent diner, but I was proven wrong the moment we arrived. To start off, the staff is very friendly and this is really a can't beat location. This motel being so close to the Redwood parks is so worth it and it is only about 15 mins away from all of the restaurants/groceries in Crescent City. After being in nature all day, I also felt a lot better coming back to a quiet motel, than returning to Crescent City. The adjacent cafe is 100% worth going to (get there early though because on weekends, there is a line out the door). The rooms themselves are clean, updated, and have a microwave/fridge. The renovations done in the room were also tasteful and they did a campfire w/ smores every night we were there.

The location had no cell service for me so you may need to rely on the motel wifi and the tub was a little dirty. Those are not cons big enough to take away from me recommending this place to anyone and this will certainly be the first place I look to when returning to the Redwoods.

The room was large and clean. It was next door to a great breakfast place. It is clear that they were keeping up the place.

No restaurants for dinner. We had to go into Crescent City to eat. It seemed a bit pricey for what we got. Only one chair in the room so one of us had to sit on the bed. Very few guests so we felt like we were practically alone.

I loved the peaceful location and beautiful surroundings! Being tucked away among the redwoods made the stay feel relaxing and cozy. The motel was comfortable, convenient, and a great place to stay while visiting the Crescent City area. 🌲❤️

Good location just out of Crescent City. Very nice people running the place - excellent hospitality! Cool fire pit! The breakfast place next door is great -- classic old school diner.

Classic roadside motel road noise, but to be expected. The fragrance they use in the room was overpowering and pretty awful (but I guess some people like that?) Don't let 'em put you in room #1 - the plumbing in there is not good.
