The age old question, would I stay again, sadly the answer is no, there is no value for money at this hotel. I think the hotel as busy as it has been with the crisis in Ukraine has slipped a little, as there is a guaranteed source of income with people visiting and leaving. The only convenience for me is the proximity to the border after driving back from Ukraine. I normally stay in Radauti about 25kms from the border as its cheaper, a better choice of properties and more on offer as a small town. This time it suited me here given the drive back from Ukraine and getting in late. The only thing I can commend is the young lady on the front desk about 2115 when I got in who went out of her way to get something from the kitchen as the hotel restaurant closed early that day despite being told earlier when I rang saying I was at the border and it was busy getting through, that it was open. So credit to her for getting that done.
Simple things guys, if you can't offer something don't offer it.
- Booked studio with balcony, was given ordinary room, no balcony at same price as the studio with balcony.
- Advertised as including a mini-bar so I thought at least water or a cola etc I can have worst case. There is a fridge but nothing in it. (Current add on Bookings.com says 'minibar'. Please remove as its not honest)
- No complimentary water at all, no tea, coffee facilities.
- Two single beds joined together as many hotels do, but no extra padding over the top, so in the middle you can feel the join.
- No toiletries at all. Just a bottle of hand wash and in the shower a shampoo bottle that was empty despite squeezing many times, nothing in it! (Current add on Bookings.com says 'free toiletries', there were none, please remove as not honest). Some people like me who travel light rely on toiletries in the hotel for hygiene and freshness, so to advertise them and have none is not the best.
- Getting told restaurant was open over the phone the same day, so buying nothing after a long drive thinking I could get a meal there, only to be told it had closed early that day for some upgrades.
- Fittings missing in the shower, just looked old and tired and certainly not a four star establishment.
I'm very rarely critical like this in my reviews, because some times you pay a cheap price and for that you don't have expectations, just a place to sleep. This place says it is four star, I would argue that against the prices it charges which are well above average. For the prices here I can stay in a superb hotel in Radauti that I won't name as its not fair, but it is new, superbly fitted out, exceptional food onsite and a third cheaper. Maybe I had a bad day here, but I travel enough to know it wasn't just the day. I wouldn't stay again and can't recommend as value for money at their prices for what they offer, its simply not.
