Outrageously expensive place. 3% charge applies when you pay by credit card, restaurant prices are in $ so they can apply their own change rate, wifi does not work at all,

Not worth for money. The price is more than doubled comparing to 3 years ago when I firstly stayed there, but unfortunately the services and facilities got worse now.
Inhospitable manager and staff.
Even though I already and received a confirmation email from booking.com, they still sent a message to ask me give them a call or WhatsApp for validation otherwise they will cancel my order! And asked 100% full payment when check-in.
3% extra charge is required for money exchange or credit card payment
Cushions in canteen are dirty with a lot of stains. the facilities are not well maintained, one bedside lamp doesn’t work, only 2 bulbs of ceiling lamp can work, other bulbs of ceiling lamp doesn’t work. That makes the room dimly lit

Breakfast is simple and crude and not tasty. When we ask for a Sri Lanka breakfast at 8:15am, we were told that it can not be ready at that time.

It was a nice stay at memo's beach hotel.we booked on Bed and breakfast basis.Staff are friendly.owner was there when we reach. He was too good n friendly. Breakfast is mouthwatering.nice presentation. Good portion. Rooms and the place interiors are superbly designed.For me its worthy for money.I really love that place and would love to re visit again.

Such a little paradise! It's so beautiful (the room with sea view and the common area) and directly at the beach with lots of options to enjoy the sea! It's one of the best places I've been to so far! The owners and the staff are really nice and super friendly. The food from the menue might be a bit more expensive than around but it is totally worth the price! And the breakfast (always took the SriLankan breakfast) was unbelievable great!!! The best breakfast of our whole vacation!

this is an absolutely unique and beautiful place. it’s worth coming to Amila Eli only for this hotel :) we loved a beautiful, eclectic style which created a perfect atmosphere. the staff is super friendly and helpful and nice and they make this place so cosy. this is a hotel which you won’t find anywhere in the world. it’s not another copy paste design but a place with a soul. even animals are very friendly and happy. breakfast is super tasty but also served in a pretty way :) beachfront location makes it perfect to chill and relax. we will also have a very special memories connected to this place since we got engaged in this pretty place eating a wonderful dinner under the stars. thank you a lot :)

This memos cabanas cozy restaurant has left the best impressions! Hospitable hosts, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, wonderful dessert. I recommend to everyone! I would like to come back here again and again. This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and cool but the staff is also really friendly. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Cabana is pretty awesome some food is italian classics and some srilanka and for their prices it’s 100% worth it.

This is a truly beautiful place! Not just the location -direct access to the beach, where nice beach beds await you- but also the way this guesthouse is decorated. Everything is nicely painted, plants and flowers everywhere and wonderful pottery, cushions and furniture.
Rooms are spacious and clean (and just as pretty as the communal area). Good AC and a mosquito net on the lovely four poster bed.
Staff is accommodating, although not all are very capable to express themselves in English.
No WiFi in the room.

It's a whole different cozy place in Nilaveli. Situated in absolutely beach font. Rooms are very cleen and they had unique interior designs with lot of anitique decorations. Foods also delicious and freshly made.. Staff is very friendly and helpfull. Stayed one night and with everything is was a unforgettable memory.

Can never thank enough to the lovely staff of Memo's Beach ! We really don't understand other negative comments about this wonderful place ! If you are paying this price and expecting a 5 star hotel, this is not the case. But it's a decent price for what they offer. Everything was perfect for us ! Staff are so kind and helpful, food is just more than delicious and the place is perfect for those who seek calm and serenity. We definitely would like to stay 1 week more in this beautiful place.
PS : If you guys are looking to go to the Pigeon Island, just ask the staff in the hotel, they can arrange it ! We had the best guide who came to pick us from the hotel and followed all the day through ! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING MEMO'S BEACH ! We will definitely come back !

Amazing staff, atmosphere and location!
Riyaz and his colleagues did everything they could to make our stay as best as possible. And they we’re also very nice to have a chat with, talking about all kinds of stuff but overall very friendly! After check out Riyaz offered to bring us to our next stop in Trincomalee himself and even showed us his house and introduced his lovely mother to us. And to top this, he even climbed a coconut tree in his garden and gifted us a couple of coconuts. We continued our ride to Trincomalee where we stopped at a small shop where the manager of the hotel gave us three beautiful seashells as a gift too! We’ve never experienced anything like this before. Like I wrote above, AMAZING STAFF! Thank you very much Riyaz and colleagues!

First things first, the place looks amazing. You can see there has been put a lot of effort in the decorations. The beach side is nice as well, the beds are really nice for sunbathing. The food quality was really good as well.
I don’t like leaving a bad review but the price-quality was not acceptable. it was one of our most expensive stays and it was just not worth it. You can see the place once must have been really nice but it is not maintained as good as it should be. Also the food prices are way to high comparing to other restaurants in Sri Lanka. Staying in a 5-star hotel in Sri Lanka where the room and food are cheaper and much better. If the hotel was around 40/50$ I would give it a much better rating because the decorations are really nice and the staff is very helpful and kind.

We had a wonderful stay at Memo's Beach Hotel. The staff is extremly kind, they were very helpful, caring and mainly because of them and of course the extraordinary food, we had a wonderful stay! We would've stayed longer if we had time.
The Wifi has to get better!

Hotel was small and charming and lead directly to the beach. Our room had balcony and overlooked the beach our son's was a side view and was smaller and darker. Breakfast was good, Dinner more about pizzas and toasties which were fine and plenty of places to eat nearby for Sri Lankan food. Biggest difficulty was that it doesn't take payment card.

We absolutely loved our stay at Memo’s. The décor was quirky and the rooms were a really good size. The food was absolutely fantastic - some of the best we had in our whole trip - and the staff were super helpful. The hotel has a great beach seating area and a short walk away from other places to eat if you fancy it.

Prices for accomodation and food way too high especially compared to all the other hotels/homestays we stayed in Sri Lanka. For such a price I would expect more.
Everything seems a bit worn, the a/c is really noisy, bed was ok but had much better and bigger beds in all other hotels, wifi not working...

Location, location, location. The best spot. Amazing beach. Decor of the room and common area is just so chilled and makes you never leave the place. Breakfast is super nice. Dogs and staff are very friendly.
Staff english is poor. Prices of food are way high for Sri Lanka and the accomodation type. Room cleaning only if you ask yet they dont tell you this when you come.

the decoration was amazing!
We had a bug infestation in our room so that 2 of us woke up covered in ants and had cockroaches in our beds. When I told staff, he laughed. They did not care at all. I had to boil my clothes in the sink because they got in my bags. I haven’t seen as many mosquitoes as I found in their bathrooms. Also the pictures of the property look better than in reality. I’ve had better stays at home stays that cost 20$ instead of 180$. This was the last stop after a month in Sri Lanka, and the number of insects in our room was absurd. Although we had 0 food in the room, my belongings looked like an ants nest. I hate to leave a bad review, but this was our most expensive stay as our last nights, and I really wish I hadn’t.

I don't like writing a negative review, but please read the frowny face below. As for positives, the location can't be beat if you want to play in the waves. The food was delicious, and the restaurants, where you can hang out during the day with a drink or your laptop, was charming. The decor, which you can see in the photos is eclectic and creative. Most of all, the staff were wonderful and tried hard to make the stay wonderful.
Really, the only thing is that this place is WAY overpriced. Like double what it should be. Double what places cost down the beach closer to Trincomalee and even right next door. We ended up moving to the Cardamom, paying half, and having more space. If this place were $40-50 per night, like other places nearby (in March 2022), I would have rated it much higher because it IS cute, the food IS good, the staff IS kind. Just not for $90. It's just not worth the money.
