Opened for guests in 2010, the original HULILI FARM COTTAGE (pronounced who-lee-lee) has welcomed so many wonderful guests that it became time to enable more people to enjoy the farm. Introducing Pineapple Cottage! Please check out our reviews for the original cottage (listing #269536) and to see which cottage best suits your needs. Guests rave about the 'SWEEPING, UNSPOILED, TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY VIEW' in every direction! The sun and moon rise over the ocean as you watch the wonders unfold from your comfy rocking chair OR swinging bed on the lanai. Birdsong is the beautiful sound track on this private farm located at the end of a dead end country road. Relax as you walk through the orchards and please, sample the when it is best! The COTTAGE is bright, clean, and newly furnished with all you will need. The master suite offers a KING size 'sleep number' bed with dual controls for firmness. A FULL size futon is inside, and outside on the LANAI is the QUEEN size 'HANGING BED'. (This bed has become a favorite with our guests, who sleep, nap, read and talk while swaying in the breeze, taking in the beauty.) Walk-in shower and pedestal sink in the cottage bath. Laundry facilities, with all supplies, are available for our guests and just steps away from the cottage. Behind the cottage is our citrus grove, where lemons, limes and oranges can be found in abundance, while the lychee orchard drops off in front of you. There’s almost always a stalk of “apple” bananas hanging on the lanai, and don’t forget the pineapples growing along one side. Bring some groceries and you are ready to settle in. Todd and Madeleine are amazing hosts and were very responsive to any and all questions. There were fresh muffins and fruit when we arrived. The Pineapple cottage was stocked with many essentials in the fridge, pantry, and throughout the kitchen. There was even a charcoal grill with instructions and supplies. The swinging day bed on the lanai looks out onto the most beautiful view and watching the sunrise was amazing. The cottage also had movies, games, and books available. Laundry was available with all supplies needed. They have really thought of everything. The Pineapple cottage is truly a gem and we loved starting our honeymoon trip there. We loved the day geckos who visited us for breakfast on the patio. It is about a 25 minute drive to Hilo, so make sure you buy groceries if you are not trying to eat out for every meal. They will bring you a compost bucket upon request. They even have fruit trees on the property that you are able to pick from. We missed the lychee fruit so I guess we will have to come back one day. We loved our stay in the Pineapple Cottage! Such a unique place to stay after being in a condo on the Kona side of the Big Island. The hosts we very friendly and offered fruit from their farm. The pictures on the VRBO site match the actual cottage & farm. If you are looking for a quiet, beautiful & out of the city property to stay at, this is the place. It's about 20 minutes from Hilo and an hour from Volacano National Park. I would highly recommend!

We enjoyed out stay at the pineapple cottage. It was clean and had everything we needed for our short stay. The pictures are accurate. We were amused by all the animals and birds on the property. It was very peaceful and private. The view is breathtaking.
The property is located only 20 minutes from Hilo. We would definitely rent this cottage again and will highly recommend it to others.

The location is perfect, remote enough form the city for solitude. The views are amazing and the hospitality can’t be beat. We would definitely return.

This was by far the most quiet and private vacation rental we have ever stayed. Hosts greeted us upon arrival and were very accessible throughout our stay. Although a little far out for exploring the Hilo side of the Big Island the tradeoff is the solitude and peace. Bed was very comfortable and the muffins delicious. The rental was easy to find and extremely clean. It is a bit on the cozy side and I did miss a proper living room area and surface in bathroom for toiletries and such but made do. For us coffee enthusiasts, a larger coffer maker would be much appreciated. All in all a beautiful stay.

I loved everything about this cottage. It’s hard to put into words how relaxing and peaceful it was to wake up and have acres of land in front of you with the ocean in the distance.
Collectively, we spent hours out on that porch in the swinging bed and rocking chairs. It rained pretty consistently the whole week we were there, so having that covered porch made it still feel like a vacation, even when hunkering down to avoid the downpours. We were able to pick fresh citrus every day from the trees and the owners brought us a bunch of bananas to enjoy from the farm. This was a truly magical stay.

Beautiful view of the ocean from the cottage, well maintained, full amenities including well stocked kitchen, use of washer and dryer, peaceful, close to a wide range of activities (beaches, ziplining, botanical gardens, volcano national park, planetarium, shopping, restaurants, etc.). The hosts are friendly and helpful.

We had the opportunity to stay in the Hulili Farm Cottage for a full two weeks. The first week was just my husband and me and it was wonderful. Waking up every morning to the view down a sloping hill to the ocean, and a visit from three Geckos every morning. The owners live on the property but the cottage is set well apart so everyone can have full privacy. We had the good luck to stay when the owners sweet dog "Lucy" had puppies. It was a gift to walk up to the main house and pet them.
One note about the cottage. The bed is a very big King so plenty of room for two big adults. However, we had family join us for a few days and the pull out futon is not quite big enough for two people unless they are children. The good news is that the hanging bed on the Lanai was perfect to use as an extra sleeping space for a few nights.
We loved staying at Hulili Cottage and would do so again!

The best place we have stayed in Hawaii! Everything was amazing. The cottage was very cozy and clean. The owners were extremely nice and welcoming, they have left muffins and fresh fruits for us. We have also met three small green geckos that live outside, and it was so much fun to befriend them! The views from the cottage are spectacular, every day of our stay, we just wanted to stay and enjoy it to the fullest. Recommend this place over any hotels/ resorts.

Absolutely incredible, we came in a little late and the host directed us where to go. When we arrived there was sign with our name on it welcoming us to our temporary home.
Waking up with the sunrise and farm fresh eggs and produce was heavenly. Taking a nap or reading a book on the swinging bed felt like something out of a movie. We had full privacy and it was honestly the best place I have ever stayed. This humble property gave us the tranquility and peace we much needed.
When we weren’t on the property we were swimming with turtles, zip lining and hiking to the falls!

I loved the location, decor, and atmosphere at this fantastic little cottage. It was a breath of fresh air - literally! Picking up lychees, oranges and lemon from the farm was such fun. We appreciated the lanai and the views from porch, not to mention the host has thought of everything a guest might need to be comfortable during a stay. We'll be back!

This is the place to stay on the East side of the Big Island, especially if you don't want to be in town or at a resort. Very relaxing, peaceful, and beautiful. The wild pigs that run through the property eating lychees are especially fun, and the sunrises from atop the hill on the lanai are spectacular.

We knew we were going to have a great time after booking this cottage. We didn't expect all the thoughtful small details the host provided! There was a small cooler available that we packed lunches in and umbrellas that were very much appreciated! The cottage was clean and the farm was beautiful! So glad we chose to stay here.

this property is in a wonderful rural location with views to the sea not far away. it is set in farmland with mature lychee trees. the property itself is clean with adequate facilities large stove for cooking and a well equipped kitchen. it is 15-20 minutes outside Hilo where you need to go for major shopping. if you like peace and quiet this is it. would definitely return if the chance arose.

We recently stayed in the Pineapple Cottage for 4 amazing nights. It was exactly as expected, a beautiful quaint place on a wonderful piece of property. We loved waking up to birds chirping and seeing the view from the comfortable sleep number bed to the ocean in the distance. We had coffee with the local geckos every morning on the Lanai and wine every evening listening to the crickets and an occasional sighting of a baby pig.
The kitchen was very well stocked. We cooked almost every night and had everything we needed. Having the use of the washer and dryer was an extra perk as we were continuing our trip to another island.
The property owners were very sweet and although we could reach them anytime we needed anything they kept their distance and allowed us to enjoy their beautiful property. We definitely want to return.

If you want a unique experience, this is a 6/5 stars. My husband, 2 teenage daughters, and I stayed here for 4 nights. The cottage and the grounds were beautiful. The view of the ocean was great. Everyone loved the outdoor hanging bed. When we weren't out exploring Hilo and Volcanoes NP, we were able to relax at the cottage. Breakfast on the patio watching the ocean and hanging out with the day geckos. At night we would sit out on the patio and talk and enjoy the peace! Picking the in-season fruit was especially cool. Madeline was a great host. We would definitely stay here again.

A beautiful and serene cottage. Enjoyed the amazing ocean views and lush landscape. Perfect for couples and small families. Time flew by but the memories will last forever. We hope to be back very soon!

So relaxing, it’s not a far drive into Hilo, some of the falls or to VNP. It’s DARK at night, which is fine as long as we aren’t trying to find our way, the directions provided were easy to follow. Loved the Geckos, we shared our cinnamon rolls with them. :) My daughter had fun exploring the property. Can’t wait to go back!

The pineapple cottage is delightfully charming and wonderfully secluded. Our hosts were equally charming and responsive. They’ve clearly paid attention to the details! We loved having our morning coffee on the lanai and watching the sun rise. its a wonderful spot to come back to after a day of exploring. The kitchen is well appointed and the sleep number bed very comfy! Pack a little bug spray, and unplug!

This house was secluded and had an amazing view of the ocean. The house was a good size for 2 people. It was cute and well decorated and clean. The hanging bed on the lanai was so relaxing. We loved walking around the farm and picking fresh fruit.

We really enjoyed our week here at the cottage. It was a great home base to come back to after exploring the island. We loved the sounds of nature, the friendly geckos chirping at us, the spectacular sunrise over the ocean every morning and the overall peace and quiet of the property.

The owners graciously invited us to help ourselves to in-season fruit (lychee, limes, and longan) and to feel free to walk the property, both of which we definitely took advantage of.
The welcome gift of homemade banana bread was a particularly lovely touch. Pro tip: if you want to make friends with the local geckos (and trust me, you do), leave out your lychee nuts after you've eaten the flesh off them.

Quiet and beautiful farm
Really clean and beautiful place. Has all kitchen accessories and spices we need. google map is accurate and found the place with ease. Get grocery beforehand either in Hilo or Waimea. There is about 25-30 minutes to grocery stores.
