The Red Door Hideout - Historic D\/T Cabin
About this cabin rental
Situated in Carbondale, this attractive cabin for $121 per night is a great option for your next vacation. Tucked right off of Carbondale's Main Street, you are steps away from all of the fabulous restaurants, bars, and shops, yet cocooned in your own private oasis. This historic piece of Roaring Fork Valley history has been preserved and relocated to downtown Carbondale as a unique and charming vacation experience. Built in 1888, this 130 year old cabin was once located on the Seeburg Ranch (now Aspen Glen), moved to downtown Carbondale, and renovated into this beautiful self-contained cabin. This one bedroom, one bathroom cabin has all the charm of its historic past, yet has been updated and professionally designed to give you a modern, cozy stay. The cabin is located in the back yard of our family's primary home yet has a separate enterence to give you privacy during your stay. In the summertime enjoy a lush, grassy yard with blooms ablaze and fresh chicken eggs a-plenty. Warm wood log walls surround you and speak the history of this retreat. The open floor plan of this cabin gives you a a spacious and comfortable living room with large smart TV; a cozy dining table with antique captain chairs; and a kitchenette with 2-burner stovetop, microwave, toaster, mini fridge, and sink. Walk past the main cabin into the back queen-sized bedroom and bathroom, which were added and newly renovated into a plush and modern living space. No detail was left out as this cabin was converted into a vacationers-delight: new wide-plank flooring, professionally decorated, high-quality linens, and all the small details perfected. You may see our family coming and going, but the cabin is a very private place for you to enjoy. Enjoy the sunshine from the patio or snuggle up and watch a movie after a night out - this is truly a unique and wonderful place to hang your hat. The Red Door Hideout is a true Carbondale experience: a bit of history and a dash of modern flair. This is truly the perfect retreat for a couple or friends. I thoroughly enjoyed my week living here!! The cabin sits right off of Main Street, so everything is nearby. Amenities include all that you'd need plus super comfortable furniture. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend The Red Door Hideout for anyone seeking a cozy western experience in the heart of town.

We loved the Red Door Hideout! The location is perfect. We enjoyed the close proximity to restaurants, hiking trails, and Nordic skiing. The space is super cute, cozy, and met all of our needs for a 2 night stay in Carbondale.

Property is as advertised. Charming historic cabin within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Comfy bed and nice walk in shower. Fridge doesn’t have a freezer - so bring a cooler and ice . We loved not having to drive to get dinner. Highly recommend this property

Great location, very nice lodging and hosts. Wi-Fi bandwidth and quality of toilet and facial tissues should be improved.

Dog friendly as advertised except have to keep dog on leash in yard. Not a problem but didn’t see that on the description. Overall excellent. Comfortable great location and took dog to dog park easily.

The cabin is a very beautiful and unique stay. That being said, we were excited to bring our dog to stay with us and were very upset when the owner texted us the day before our stay to let us know that they had just reseeded the backyard and we wouldn’t be able to use it at all (which is the main reason we paid more to book this specific property). The cabin is next to an alley in the downtown area and we had to walk blocks away to take our dog to the bathroom as there was no grass nearby. If we had a younger dog this wouldn’t be a big issue but our dog is a senior and scared of other dogs so the fenced yard was ideal. I have no issue with the owners doing what they needed to do to maintain the property. I was just disappointed that they waited to tell us until the day before our stay so there was literally nothing we could do about it unless we wanted to lose a $1000 deposit. The owner said the companies in the area book up quickly and this was the only time they had available to do the yard (which again, I understand) but if that’s the case, they probably knew well ahead of our stay and could’ve let us know sooner. Between the yard and not allowing dogs on the furniture (this is in the listing so it wasn’t a surprise), it just didn’t seem like a very dog friendly space. Also while it looks nice, the shower floor is very uncomfortable to stand on and there was no heat (it got down to <40 during the night). Heat’s only available Oct-May. We stayed in June. Wouldn’t book again

It is a perfect location - to walk around town to check out the shops, eat in the best restaurants in CO, or head outside for some adventures. They cabin is adorable! It’s very Carbondaleesque. I don’t know of anyplace else that it is NOT considered sketchy to go down an alley to a fenced door and find a cabin! I was conveniently placed in town. We loved the atmosphere and especially enjoyed the company of the chickens!! There were a few cons though. The porch lite was out.and made it very difficult to navigate getting in the gate to the front door hand trying to get it open. There were solar path lights, but they were very dim and hard to navigate getting in with the gate door opening in and the steps.
The inside was quaint and comfortable. Really had that cabin vibe. The hanging light didn’t work so the living room was a bit dark unless you turned on the ceiling lights that were very bright and had miss matched bulbs of warm and bright white.made it awkward. Some outlets didn’t work, but that’s a cabin. A night light would be suggested and better quality toilet paper! Lol. We would have bought our own, but I was concerned they may have had a septic system.
Our biggest issue was the massive cobwebs and bugs in them. The window above the door is gross! There’s also cob webs in the rafters. Why am I getting changed a for professional cleaning fee? It also would have been nice to know about the elm seed bugs prior to booking and not after we checked in!! It was cute and an interesting story.
The host was very pleasant. We still had a great time, it just lacked the love and special touches that the other places had.

We loved the location and loved the whole vibe of the cabin. It was a like a remote getaway in the heart of town. I appreciated the interiors and nice touches throughout. Thank you for a fabulous getaway!

Comfortable, charming, cozy little house with its' own private entrance and very conveniently located in downtown Carbondale. Brittany and family are very friendly and helpful when needed but gave us the privacy we looked forward to. The history of the house appealed to us and the interior was so comfortable and attractive. It had everything we needed. We would definitely recommend the Red Door Hideout and may very well return ourselves.

All the check in instructions were very good.
The cabin is nicely appointed. There was no bureau to put clothing. I would suggest a ceiling fan in the bedroom. Some nights it did not cool down enough. It is very convenient and easy to walk.

The little cabin with the red door was a delightful experience. Brittany and her family welcomed us with open arms. The cabin is such a treat and well appointed. The backyard was relaxing and fun for my grandson to play in. Would love to be back soon.

A cute cabin near the center of town
We enjoyed our stay at the Red Door Hideout. It is cute as can be. The location was ideal, centrally located. within a block of several restaurants. The owners are delightful and helpful. Note that the cabin is in the back yard of the owner’s house, who have a young family. I would have appreciated black out blinds in the bedroom, and some way of making ice. The cabin is on the alley, and we heard some dumpster noise.

Perfect I will be going back.
