We booked a standard room - 2 double beds. When we arrived we were told that we got an upgrade to a king size bed. We asked to keep the standard room (2 brothers forced to share one bed was not what we booked), but couldn’t be accommodated.

The location was great

The price gouging for the room given there was a major event in Melbourne was expected, however room that standardly sells for around $250 per night we were charged over $800 a night plus $140 for valet parking (we didn’t use the car at all while there). I guess they can do this when the demand is there but I think it’s a bit over the top. For the price we got a small twin room with stains all over the carpet. They called this an upgrade as I booked on booking.com for a twin room and was then advised they can not garuntee twin beds and I would need to spend an extra $200 to ensure we have two beds. I traveled with my elderly mother and my teenager, I thought this whole process was poor. The cafe in the hotel was also not great service, they need to do a bit better knowing the hotel is at capacity. We had food missing and had to send food back ie: avocado toast with no avocado. This was the same for many people there.

Room was clean. A little dusty on the shelf’s above the fridge but nothing major. The bed was super comfy and the location was perfect for what we needed

I didn’t like the fact when I booked it was for a high floor yet we were only on level 1. I was disappointed in this as we were having a mother daughter get away and it would have been nice as this is what I was expecting

Small issue I had was the small room. We stay here often & felt like he you go it’s the last room. The lady on the front counter was very nice & before we even seen the room gave us 2 drink cards for the small room.

We were upgraded to a City/Crown view which was fantastic, wish we were here longer than one night to enjoy it. The staff were so friendly at checkin and checkout, the concierge was great. Breakfast was AWESOME!

The Dive Bar staff could have been a bit more attentive and happier to be there (2 ladies).

The hotel confirmed that they will present her with a cake and other stuff when she arrived however the Crown never provided anything for my daughter and she was very disappointed. We received emails even confirming the extra bonus for my daughters 18th birthday, we have stayed at many other 5 star places and have been provided cakes etc for any birthday celebrations we have booked and stayed with. Pretty disappointed with Crown
