Absolutely charming and a great location!

Great location. Nice theme. Would be cramped with 6 people. This is a second floor condo, accessed by stairs (I did not see this mentioned in the listing, other than a photo).
Bedrooms are cramped. Master bedroom has a very comfortable, 4 poster bed, one night stand and a closet with greatly reduced storage capacity due to it containing sheets, towels, bedding…
Only cold water in the bathroom sink.
Freezer needs defrosting and ice trays replaced.
Washer and dryer were a bonus!

The property was beautiful, very nicely decorated and incredibly convenient. Loved the stay and will be back.

Everything about the location and property was spot on. Would stay here again!

Location is convenient & has pool & parking. They need to update their arrival paperwork;almost everything was incorrect about keys, WIFI, TV, & Parking pass. Keys were not located as described; WIFI info wrong; TV remotes not the same as pictured/described; Parking pass not in location that it said it would be. I figured all of this stuff out on my own. Also need to update pool safety contract; it says "The home you have rented includes a community outdoor pool and a Jacuzzi"; we were excited about the Jacuzzi even though one is not included on the listing. There is no Jacuzzi. Nice Hemingway theme throughout the property. The kitchen had everything we needed. The biggest issue was the freezer. It was tiny. We bought a bag of ice for drinks, but it would not fit. It only fits a few ice trays--not enough ice for 6 people. Rain and windy our entire stay; if I could have predicted that, I would have gotten a bigger place. A bit small for 6 people to hang out and use one bathroom; one bedroom did not have room to put luggage. Due to rain and wind, couldn't use larger outdoor porch. Was able to sit on the small covered front porch somewhat so that was nice. New washer and dryers were nice, especially since every trip outside required us to dry our gear upon return. Girls rented bikes around the corner and that was nice. Husband liked the short walk to bars, esp. the Green Parrot. Love the area and will stay in vicinity again as I have at several of this compound's rentals.

Pros: Great location, quiet neighborhood, close to all the fun, includes a parking spot, nice condo and amenities, balconies on front and back of house are a great place to relax
Cons: Too much decor/oversized furniture makes space feel tight, items are very worn - place needs some tlc, paperwork outdated and color coding on keys is worn off, all shelves on door in fridge are cracked, faucet was leaking on check in - couldnt get ahold of property manager, received a call back regarding sending out a maintenance person but no one ever showed up, condo was still a little dirty on check in (grease on stove wall, half eaten food in cabinets), condo pool also a bit rough

Our group of two couples couldn’t have asked for a better location, amenities, cleanliness, and ease of check in for our three night stay. While a small item, we were taken aback when we were told we had to provide our own toilet paper when the supply ran out.

You are literally 2 blocks from Duval. You can walk to Mallory Square, restaurants, Fort Zachary anything you want to do. We were there for a little over a week, so we ended up renting a golf cart. We took it to Smathers Beach since that's a little bit of a hike 1.1 miles away. Writer's Retreat had the comfiest beds and had everything we needed for the stay.
(towels, linens, dishwasher tablets, dish liquid, toilet paper, etc.)There is no guest parking so if you have two vehicles you have to pay for parking out on the street (good luck cause a lot of residents have them already claimed) or do what we did we made friends with the neighbors who didn't have a car and used their space. The pool is wonderfully air conditioned on those hot days it was wonderful. The only negatives I would say is the small refrigerator in the kitchen, the second bedroom needs a mirror, there is only one TV and that's in the living room, the cold air that blows on you from the vent directly above the couch. You have to bundle up while sitting on the couch. It was a good stay, and I would stay here again but bring a hat and scarf for when sitting on the couch.

Writer's Retreat was a highlight. Conveniently located, quiet, clean and comfortable. Two porches a delight.

We had always wanted to stay at the Truman Annex and this was finally our chance! Our condo was just lovely and had basically everything we needed. There was comfortable bedding for all, two twins for our boys which was perfect. The kitchen was stocked with all that we needed and a full-size fridge, and W/D which was so so helpful as well. The bathroom was a tad tight for the 4 of us at times, but that would be the only "downside" I could see, and we made it work. Loved the Hemingway theme, check in/out was seamless and clear, no issues at all. We would stay here again for sure! Thank you for such a great stay!

Great place to stay, amenities were just right. Close to the pool. Quiet property to relax and unwind. Parking is limited so prepare.

The property exceeded expectations. Accommodations were just enough for two couples. The location was awesome. Walking distance to Duvall Street (10 min walk) and sunset pier (20 min walk). We visited in July which was VERY HOT. It was nice to do the 'touristy stuff' and return midday to chill in the pool and then go back out at night.

I highly recommend you rent this place! It has everything you need in a safe and secure place.

Writer's Retreat is a beautifully decorated upstairs condo. The location is walkable to everything and we enjoyed relaxing poolside. The condo was clean and supplied with all expected kitchen basics. Plenty of clean towels and extra bedding if needed. We would definitely stay here again.

This is as good as you can get for a reasonable cost close to Whitehead, Duval, Mallory Sq, the Water Front & Zachary Taylor Beach. Great food places within short walks. Park in a reserved spot and walk most if not all the places you will want to see. The owners and keep staff are great to work with and communicate very well. I hope to be back, now our favorite place in Key West.

Well appointed unit. Only negative was no where did it say there was a switch needed to be on in order to activate wifi. Would be helpful if it said that in handbook in the unit and exactly where the switch is located. Also handbook didn't seem to be up to date with remotes for t.v. Each of these where remedied by a text message. Just could have been avoided if instructions were up to date in the handbook. You also need to know there are about 12 stairs to the unit in case you have someone who can't do stairs. Other than this the unit was very nice , located in a great area and we had a very pleasant stay.

Four of us women in our 40’s stayed here for a girls’ trip for 4 nights. The location is great to walk to most things. The condo was clean.
I would stay here again. The only two things that put a damper on our stay was the pullout couch and not having two twin beds in one room as expressed. The pullout is for a child, not an adult, know that if you think and adult will be sleeping there, think again. Also, we wanted two twins and instead we had a king bed, so felt every single movement the person next to me was making all night. Other than that, all was fantastic. Very cute decor, clean and inviting.

Beautiful condo! Very clean. Perfect for our family. Close to everything in the tourist area of key west but also in a gated community so it felt not as busy.

We stayed the month of January, so longer than most. We have a VRBO so we appreciate honest reviews. This property is located in a great part of Key West, which we loved. Easy walk to all things Key West. There were several things not working, some I fixed and others we left for the PM team. The furniture needs replacing, immediately. We couldn't sit on the couch without putting pillows underneath and on our backs. The chairs in the living room and kitchen are the same, not comfortable. The paint on the kitchen chairs and doors to the rooms was sticky, as if they used the wrong paint or something. So when you sat in the kitchen chair you would stick. The entire condo needs a deep clean and some attention before it can really be a good rental to spend time in. The property manager, Anna, was nice enough but when we needed to get mail that was incorrectly delivered to the mailbox no one had a key. Anna said she would get it for us, but nothing. I finally had to wait for the postal delivery to get it. Not sure if VRBO rental agency know but it’s a USPS Code 18 that renters have access to mail.

I loved this property as it was close to Duval street but in a quiet area .I could see that the amenities would be great for a 3 night stay so splashed out as there was a communal pool too ;perfect after seeing the sights of Key West .unfortunately the pool was not in operation so awaiting a response

Initial check-in was fine but the Parking Pass was missing from the location noted in the documents. I checked the document book as well the only document in the book was not in my name or the stated “stay” dates. I wanted to adhere to the parking rules. So I had to reach out to Anna - it was after 5pm - so understandable it took time to get a response. She proceeded to explain I can just use the incorrect parking pass it will be fine.
The Sunday evening the one toilet’s refill water line into the tank stopped working. So we were not able to get any water into the toilet. We reviewed and attempted to fix the tank line ourselves. No luck initially. I called Anna who then provided a number of very poor excuses for assistance. 1) Key West is a small island so getting a plumber late would be a problem and very costly — again but necessarily my issue 2) She said is not an emergency - overall she is correct but not acceptable for a unit of this price 3) Anna said to use the bucket in the closet to pour water into the toilet. All of these excuses indicated to me this is a reoccurring problem and just laziness on the part of the property management/assistant. It is a shame since the unit overall is nice. I’ve stayed in the Shipyard Condos a number of times … and would except better customer service.

Perfect location, quiet community, pool is a huge plus. Condo was clean and decorated so cute. We celebrated my 30th birthday and it was a great trip. I’m so happy I booked here!

Nice property that is pleasantly decorated. Pretty tight for six adults as rooms are pretty small. Bathroom was adequate; however, desperately needs a new exhaust fan. Sounds so bad you can’t leave it on. Been that way a while as the metal hardware in the bathroom is severely rusted.
Overall, a pleasant place and we had no real complaints. The owner was easy to contact and friendly. Gated community was conveniently located to Duval Street and to marina.

We had a wonderful stay here and was located close to all amenities. Beds were comfortable. The kitchen could do with extra utensils as we couldn't find any for cooking in the oven. A little more attention needs to be given to dust. We fell in love with Key West.

Great location, with easy parking! It was overall very quiet except the neighbors downstairs were very noisy until very late and night and made a racket really early every morning.
The kitchen only has one large stock pot and an old frying pan. It did have a great blender, toaster, and coffee pot. Fridge is good size, freezer is tiny. The Master Bedroom "retreat" is tiny and the mattress is completely worn out and very uncomfortable. We are not large people and the middle of the bed was sagging and the sides were hard. Got horrible sleep and couldn't wait to get back to our bed. Mattress needs to be replaced. All pillows and bedding were down and of high quality. The front Family room area has queen sleeper sofa bed. The sofa is incredibly uncomfortable for sitting, and even worse as a bed. It's essentially a futon - you bend and fold it into bed. The couch and all the living room furniture need to be updated. Couldn't even sit through a movie without back hurting. It's worn out and makes springy noises when you get up and down. Otherwise the place was nice, clean and well kept. Just needs some updating.
