Magical stay in the Imperial Suite. Spacious rooms with beautiful, whimsical decor. I lived for relaxing on the little balcony overlooking Pitti Palace in the long light of the sun with my morning coffee or pre-dinner wine. Great people watching from that vantage point and so peaceful. (Note: I believe this is the only room with a balcony.)
The staff was gracious, helpful and kind.
I was suspicious of the air conditioner at first. I turned it on with a remote control by following the instructions on a laminated card and it was so quiet, I thought operating it was beyond my technical prowess. However, the room cooled quickly (and it was 95°F outside!), the unit is just surprisingly quiet.
We did not have breakfast at the hotel. You need to reserve it the night before and there is an incremental fee. It looked robust and worth it, we just preferred to grab something small in the bustling cafes on the street. There is a Nespresso machine in the room with complimentary pods. This is very important to me...sometimes I even search hotel reviews for the word "coffee" to make sure I have easy access.
This not your typical hotel (book a chain hotel if that's what you're looking for), rather it's like staying as a guest in a home well-appointed with antiques and fluffy towels. It is quirky in some ways: locked gate out front, elevator the size of a shoe box (I took the stairs), and a room key the size of a small kitten (I kid).
It felt like an experience made with love.

The room definitely had old world Italian feel being across the street from the actual Pitti Palace. The room was clean and well equipped. Our room had a balcony overlooking the palace court and main gate. Location was perfect to walk to all landmarks and amazing restaurants not to mention gelato!!

This venue was perfect for first time luxury travelers who like to have access to the central points but appreciate 6 degrees of seperation. We loved the charm of our suite and appreciated how well appointed the formal bedroom, bathroom and sitting room were. The staff treated us very kindly and made our stay a Florence one of a kind. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone who wants to have the royal experience without having special ammenities like a gym or swimming pool.
