The Homestead, at Nine Pines Farm - Fishing Pond and Trails
About this farm stay rental
Nestled in Ohio, this attractive farm stay for R 3,234 per night is a great option for your next break. Whether it's the rich early-American history, or the scenic beauty of the Appalachian foothills, The Homestead is the best place to start your adventure into the Hocking Hills! While the 23 acre farm itself dates back to the late Civil War Era, The Homestead is an updated farmhouse, at the front of the property, that still holds quirky and charming reminders of its approximately 140 years on the farm. The Homestead also sits alongside the John Hunt Morgan Heritage Trail, the route Confederate Brigadier General Morgan took during his raid on Southern OH. With it's rolling pastures, petite orchard and grapevines, and the staple white picket fence, it's too easy to get lost in a daydream on the screened-in back porch. The fenced in area is a great place for your family pet to run, and the shared trails and fishing pond are a great place to kill time. In the evenings, you can unwind by the fire ring out back, or relax in the hot tub on the patio. The Homestead is also centrally located to everything the Hocking Hills region has to offer! My friends and I had a great time at this property. The owners were very responsive when we needed some salt for the back sidewalk. We enjoyed our quiet weekend playing board games and hiking in the backyard. 10/10 would stay again!

My extended family met at The Homestead to celebrate Christmas together. It was the most relaxing get-together ever! The house is quaint and cozy, with lots of room for all of us. We loved how big the dining room table was, so we could all sit around it for games and meals. The kitchen is roomy enough for us to cook together. The fire pit and jacuzzi were great gathering places, and the boys enjoyed going out to the pond, even though they only caught one tiny bluegill. Our host was helpful, and even dropped by to check if we needed anything. We would definitely go back!

As always, good deer camp stay.

The space was alright, location was convenient to hiking. We went for thanksgiving and as always being with family is great. Things to know: there are no real doors on main bedrooms. Things need updating throughout. The hosts were easy to contact and responded to our questions.
We will not return.

Our two day stay was very pleasant. The host did a great job communicating their expectations and tips for us to have a great stay. I appreciate them for replying to us so quickly when questions were asked. I would suggest staying with 6 or more people only because I’m scared of everything outside haha. It will feel very homey! Me and my family enjoyed the trails and fishing in the pond. I would stay again in the winter if the opportunity was available.

The house was will maintained and comfortable, plenty of room for me and my 4 friends. However the upstairs windows needed to be cleaned and you need to watch your head going up & down the stairs. Had a wonderful stay.

The location of the property was excellent for all the things we wanted to do in Hocking Hills. The house was very spacious and comfortable.

We had a wonderful stay. One thing if you need to use beds upstairs please be careful at top of stairwell. The ceiling is very low and a few of us hit our heads.
We had a couple people who were handicapped and they were able to get in and out however the toilets sit very low and it was difficult for them to sit and then stand.
It was a quaint space and we enjoyed our time!!!

The place was exactly as described, good location in relation to Hocking Hills. We also ended up exploring Athens, which is a really cool little town.
Pros: Plenty of space, fenced yard for the dogs, lots of room, kitchen was stocked, plenty of towels, washer & dryer, good location, quiet area, huge property to explore
Cons: The grill was a straight up fire hazard. The propane seemed to be on when we went to light it, but there was no ignitor button (just missing). It was dirty and gross, but we figured we'd just put some foil on the grates. However, there was so much crap in it and on the grates, it was on fire nearly the entire time we grilled- including the foil and our steaks! At one point, there were flames shooting out the back of it. Good thing I was outside because it was kind of close to the house and I had to pull it away.
The hot tub was functioning but I found it very strange that some of the jets were not even under water, which they said was normal. We still spent time in it but mostly without jets because they weren't really high powered and again- a couple sets were not even submerged.

This was our second stay at this property over the course of roughly 3 years. After our first stay we knew we would be back. The house isn't perfect, but for the value its amazing. Has more amenities than most hotels offer and a ton more privacy. From the trails to walk, to the fishing pond, to the screened in back porch, to the fact that you are basically within 20 minutes of MOST of the places to see in the area. I promise you'll feel you got your money's worth out of your stay. A nice bonus, this year when we stayed we got to meet the owner as he was mowing. He seemed very genuine and was very friendly.
All in all this has become like a home away from home for us and we will definitely be staying here more in the future.
As an overall experience I'd give it a solid 9.5/10

We rented this property for a 12 person group trip and it was amazing! The house came with everything we needed and was very spacious! Definitely would rent again!

Ceilings were very short making it difficult to get upstairs to the bedroom. House seemed much smaller than description. Pond was deceivingly far away and did not seem to have anything but tiny bluegill in it. Access to most of the beds required entry into the master bedroom. Owner was accessible and stopped by to make sure we had what we needed. We could not find extra sheets for the couch since the upstairs bedroom was inaccessible for our taller guests. One Bathroom ceiling was extremely low and angled making it difficult for taller guests to use.

Our group of 6 (2 adults & 4 teens) had a great time! Every thing was clean, Nick was responsive to our very few questions and the yard was beautiful. We loved the screened in porch, hot tub and fire pit. There were plenty of towels and the beds were very comfy. It's about 30 minutes to Hocking Hills SP, Rock House, Rockbridge area and Athens, so very centrally located. Our only suggestions are to add some serving bowls to the kitchen for those who like to cook (we made some amazing meals) and we think twinkle lights around the fence would be just perfect. The upstairs two bedrooms are not for taller people - there are lower ceilings up there as should be expected for a home from this time period. We loved everything about this old home and you can tell it is loved by its owners. Thanks for a great stay - we plan on returning.

What a cute little house! Great location close to a lot of different things. We really enjoyed hiking at Hocking Hills which was just a short 20ish min drive. The property was great too with different trails to take.

The Homestead has a range of leisure options for youths and adults: it’s own fishing pond, trails, hot tub as well as being less than fifteen minutes from a Lake Hope State Park. Nicely furnished with ample beds (there were 9 of us). Highly recommend.

Property was like it was described. Owners were responsive to any questions/concerns that we had during the stay. Our party of 10 fit comfortably in the house. The only downfall was the drive to sites to hike but it wasn't too bad. Would definitely stay there again. Fenced in yard was perfect for our dog. The sunroom off the one bedroom was great for early risers while others still slept. Kitchen was stocked well to make our stay easier. The dining room table fit all 10 of us for meals and the living room was spacious enough for all of us to hang out in.

We didn’t even leave the property once we checked in because everything was right there! The kids enjoyed the pond catching fish each day. All of us enjoyed paddling around on the boat. Central air was a plus with the hot temps! The living room is spacious for all to relax. We had campfires daily and made s’mores and fruit pies. We’ve stayed at many places in Hocking Hills over the years, but this home was the most conveniently located. No need to travel up steep, gravely hills to get here like places in the past. Back yard is fenced in too for children or if you wish to bring pets. Hot tub is a plus! We would enjoy booking again!

Perfect setting to get away and relax with friends! It's easy to find and the drive is nice. The property is quiet and great for nature lovers. We loved sitting out in the fire pit in the morning listening to birds. Everything was clean and the decorations are really cute.

We were a little wary when we first arrived due to the exterior but this place is a hidden gem! You can’t judge a spot by the outside and this place is a great example. The living room and dining room were spacious and had plenty of room to gather and hang out. We enjoyed the enclosed porch and the hot tub was clean and relaxing. The rooms with multiple beds are at the top of stairs and the ceiling when you get to the top is pretty steep so you have to watch your head. It was so nice having two bathrooms and everyone slept comfortably. The kitchen was very spacious and had many accommodations. The host was very prompt with communication and pleasant. Check in was smooth and I would definitely recommend following the instructions that are provided when driving to avoid the “shortcut”. Overall a great place to stay and we would definitely come back!

The trails around the property were beautiful. We went in spring and the wildflowers were lovely. Bluebells, rue anemones, buttercups, spring beauties. Swallowtail butterflies in the field and red-winged blackbirds by the pond.
The home itself was well maintained and clean. Plenty of space with decent sized bedrooms and a lot of common areas. It is an old farmhouse - with a bit of a unique layout. (To get to the upstairs bedrooms, you go through the master bedroom, and the upstairs rooms have very low ceilings.) This didn’t bother us, but I could see it being difficult to have tall adults upstairs.
