We are on the shores of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. We are within walking distance to Lover's Point Beach, downtown Pacific Grove, Cannery Row, Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Monterey's Fisherman's Wharf. Pebble Beach, Carmel, Carmel Valley, and Point Lobos State Reserve are just minutes away. Big Sur is 26 miles south, and Hearst Castle is only 90 miles south on Scenic Highway #1. Sit on a bench out front, and watch the seals and otters play in the giant kelp beds. Or stroll the hiking trail along the shore at sunset. Our season is year-round! So book your reservation now, before it's too late. The Fall is the peninsula's best-kept secret. Can’t beat the location and price. Walkable to many landmarks. Nice driveway parking. Would stay here again. Convenient. Quiet. Nice private deck.

I had a great time exploring everything that Pacific Grove and Carmel has to offer in my week long stay. The comfortable accommodations made it even more pleasurable. The Mermaid Cottage is just a block away from the ocean!! I took the trail and was able to walk to Lover's Point, Monterey Aquarium & Canary Row. Asilomar Beach was a short drive away. There is a parking space in front of the garage which was perfect to park my car. This is per friendly property, and I was able to take my dog on long beach walks daily. He loved it. The owners live next door and are very prompt with responding to calls/requests. I had left my house key inside and locked myself out one time, and Barry was able to open the door for me at a short notice. I will definitely be coming back again!!

This is in a wonderful location. Easy to walk to many restaurants. The beach is very close. It is small but perfect for 2 people. Would stay there again.

Barry and Elizabeth very friendly hosts. Very forthcoming with advice about our accommodation. Slight confusion over the key to access the garage to use washing and dryer facilities. We looked for an actual key but it was a electonic push button one.The retreat is needs a little updating but there is everything that you need. My 19 yr old daughter noticed some old hair in the shower but It was soon resolved by me. Lovely area to visit

The Mermaid Retreat was close to everything and everywhere we wanted in Pacific Grove and Monterey. It was equipped with everything we needed and was exceptionally clean. We appreciated the little things like having the light switches and living room sheets labeled, and the kitchen was completely equipped. The cottage has a driveway for off-street parking. If you like mermaids and pelicans, this is the place to stay. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you, Barry and Elizabeth!

This rental was quite small - a FR/kitchen combo and a BR. It is a little dated, the only TV is in the BR, it is filled with mermaid chachkes, and I would stay there again in a second. The location, 1/2 a block from the bay, is spectacular! Morning coffees, afternoon cocktails and long walks along the water we’re right outside our door. Just a short drive into Monterey or Carmel or a short walk into charming Pacific Grove. We loved it.

This little place did not disappoint. It is literally steps from the ocean path and close to Lovers Point and Pacific Grove. My 1st time traveling alone and my dog and I parked in the private driveway (a bonus), and walked everywhere. Mermaid retreat has everything you need and Barry and Elizabeth respond to questions quickly. This will definitely be my 1st choice stay when heading to Pacfic Grove! Amy & Sadie (dog) 😊

The Mermaid Retreat was absolutely perfect for this couple! The location can’t be beat…walking distance to so many things, but especially the ocean. We walked the ocean path every day…we saw so much wildlife and beautiful and different floral and fauna. The house had virtually everything we needed, was so cozy and comfortable and we slept great every night in the queen size bed. The owners are right next door and accessible if needed and very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We can’t recommend this gem highly enough. It was truly the perfect retreat and home base for our week in Pacific Grove and surrounding area. Thank you, Barry and Elizabeth!

The cottage was very nice, but the bed is quite old. I would guess 20+ years. No pillowtop here. The bedroom is also a TV rooom and the two chairs provided are very uncomfortable. No parking access INSIDE the garage.

We spent an amazing week at the Mermaid Retreat. It's clean, well stocked and perfect for two. A short walk down the street gets you to the beautiful Pacific Grove coastline. Very close to Lover's beach. We can't wait to come back.

We had a wonderful week at the Mermaid Retreat. It is a cozy and warm space with a well stocked kitchen and easy access to trails and stores. We appreciated that we were able to keep our bikes in the garage and use them so easily. Barry was there to answer questions or take care of anything we needed. Definitely enjoyed our stay!

Second time I’ve stayed. I love it more each time. Perfect little cottage to soak in the sea air. Well stocked kitchen and a short walk to breathtaking views. Mattress is very firm. Felt very safe traveling alone. Hosts are next door, very friendly and good for a chat but not overly so. Introvert friendly. Will definitely book again.

Lovely tiny house located so near the ocean and Lovers Point ! Lots of walking and sightseeing. The house with mermaid decor is unique! Everything is in order and cozy. We also appreciated the driveway to park our car .

I've stayed in many vacation rentals and this is the first time I've done a negative review. It was like a different place then what I had read in the previous reviews. Upon entering there was a strong musty odor. The view was looking at the back of a large adjacent house. no ocean. The carpet showed multiple spots where pets had urinated. The front curtains were old and see through and torn. The mattress is so old its shredding! There was a bowl on the kitchen counter with a sign saying wet garbage here. This property is definitely not pet friendly. There's no yard! Only a small wood porch. The nearest place to take your pet is across two streets probably almost 100 yards away. Sorry I had to make these comments but I felt obligated. I wasn't able to stay. Maggie
