The location was very good, and there are single rooms with en-suite bathrooms available. The two women who run the hostel are quick to answer questions, solve problems, and make recommendations. They are both very knowledgeable, helpful, pleasant, and kind. They go out of their way to make guests feel welcome. The housekeepers were also very pleasant and helpful. It was nice to have the 10% discount at the Open Kitchen and the other restaurant owned by the same people. The bed was comfortable enough, and the shower was good enough. It was very nice to have my laundry done at such a low cost. The deck, where the kitchen is located, overlooks lovely vegetation, so there are lots of butterflies and hummingbirds to watch while you eat or while you are relaxing on the deck.
Unfortunately, the location that is so close to everything is also very noisy at night especially on the weekends. It’s a double-edged sword because the location is convenient to shops and restaurants which also makes it noisy at night. There was never any hot water in the kitchen sink (although was plenty in my bathroom). The wife of the couple who own the hostel brought her small children to the large living area most days to eat breakfast or lunch, and sometimes left them for the front desk women to take care of. Shrill screams and crying from young children made me uncomfortable like I was in the owner’s home rather than their business. Also a note to older travelers (like me), there are plentiful bean bags to sit on in the living area, but only one chair and sofa otherwise. But there are plenty of tables and chairs on the deck by the outdoor kitchen.

There's so much good to highlight! Sharon immediately welcomed me warmly and made me feel at home. She was also happy to help me book great experiences. The common area was comfortable and aesthetically pleasing, with soft poofs to sit on, books to read, a game table etc. The social vibe was on the chill/quiet side but I liked that, and to be fair I happened to stay on nights without any social events. I stayed in a 4-bed dorm with a bathroom and was very satisfied. The location is phenomenal, close to lots of great cafes and shops.
