About this cabin rental
Nestled in the beautiful Jordan River Valley, this cozy cabin is a writer's dream. Located seven miles from Mancelona, this woodsy retreat provides easy access to hiking, fishing, canoeing, and skiing. Shorts Brewery, and their famous craft beer, is a fifteen minute drive to downtown Bellaire. Traverse City and Petoskey are just forty-five minutes away.
The cabin is located on on a old turn of the century farm, it sits across the yard, maybe 40 feet from the main house. I am the only person on the property and park and enter from the back of the house away from the cabin. Giving people their privacy is a priority for me. The cabin sits on a crossroad of two county dirt roads. The cabin is on a dead end road. There is some traffic, this would not be considered remote or totally secluded but is a pretty quiet peaceful location. Across the street there is a old one room schoolhouse that the owner does spend some time at through the summer. There is another home down the road a bit but not visible from the cabin. The cabin is surrounded by tall maple trees and old farm gardens.
The Jordan River Valley is part of the Mackinaw State Forest and is truly one of the most beautiful wilderness areas in northern Michigan. Its river was the very first to be designated as a wild and scenic river by the Federal government. The Jordan River Pathway provides 18 miles of trails and is part of the North Country National Scenic Trail.
Winter note, the fireplace shown in the photo is not operational at this time. There are plans in the works but the heater for the cabin sets in the fireplace space as of now.

“Personally, I would love to find a little secluded cabin stay for the weekend, put the phones away and just ignore everyone and everything.” - The request of my wife for her birthday weekend. Only stayed 2 nights, but I wish we could have stayed 4 more! This cute, quaint little cabin was absolutely perfect and exactly what we needed. Mary was so sweet, super helpful and full of info/recommendations of things to do around the area. The cabin was spotless and had everything we needed for a perfect weekend. If you need a place to reset and recenter, away from the loud hustle and bustle of every day life, look no further!

Cabin was wonderful, neat and tidy with all the amenities and rustic cabin feel. No TV was wonderful. Me and my dad sat, listened to the radio talking about the good ole days. Mary is an awesome host.

This small one room cabin was GREAT. Mary was a super host with plenty of information on the ins and outs of the local scenery, food and drinks. We will be coming back to visit.
We could not find closing instructions but Mary was a text away to give us directions and was extremely friendly.
