Instructions on getting access to the appartment were clear and precise. However there was a slight incline and a few stairs to climb from Grassmarket to the entrance, which wouldnt worry those younger than me, but at 71 it was a bit of a struggle. Unfortunately there was a lot of rubbish at the nottom of the stairs, 4 large black commercial bins and rubbish on the stairs going up the lane and near the entrance. I was allocated appartment #2 which I was very grateful for as there were only about 6 stairs to climb once I got the key. I was pleasantly surprised to find the appartment delightful and had everything I needed for a four night stay. It was very quiet for the amount of tourists in Grassmarket and going up and down the stairs of the lane. I was expecting a stunning view of the Castle from the windows, but although there was none, it did look out onto some backyards with grass as green trees. I loved waking up each morning to the coo-ing of pigeons on the steps in the yard outside. The appartment was extremely clean, well set out, was a good size and had everything I needed. I was pleased I was able to open the windows as I like fresh air. Two windows could not open more than 3 or 4 inches but that was enough to let in fresh air. I was so grateful that there was an electric fan. It got a little hot on day 1 - 3 and it helped to cool the unit down quickly. The bathroom size was a little small but for one person of medium stature it was acceptable. The toiletries had a lovely fragrance, and the shower was hot and had good pressure. The towels were large and fluffy and the floor mat a good size. It was great having a washing machine/dryer. I only used the washing machine and just hung my clothes in the open window and they dried in no time. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were too soft for me. I found some spare batteries in the coffee table draw, which I thought was a wonderful idea.

The right hand window could also open but it was not safe to leave as there was no way to lock the window so I could only use 2 of the 3 windows. The TV was a little small and hard to see from the bed. Maybe a slightly larger one would be good. On the last day the controls appeared not to be working properly but after I found spare batteries in the coffee table drawer, and replaced the batteries, the controls worked fine. The shower bay was a little slippery so a non slip mat would be a good addition. I couldn't find a hair-dryer but on messaging the property management I was told it was in the wardrobe. What wardrobe I asked? I'd only walked past the mirrored doors so many times while I was staying there I felt very foolish. I suggested that a broom be left for future guests as the floor boards got a little gritty after 3 days.

Perfect location in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, within walking distance of the tram connection to the airport and close to the main attractions. The space was great, with a comfortable bed and a lovely shower. The shower and dressing area were also beautifully lit, which made it perfect for getting ready to go out. Would definitely recommend.

Walkable and central - great location. Hosts very responsive and gave clear instructions. Very clean and comfortable place to stay, had everything we needed. We would book here again next time we are in Edinburgh

we were unprepared for the number of stairs to get to the property. The heating was difficult to use and the portable heating unit had broken legs so couldn’t be moved around very easily. There is a constant damp smell throughout the apartment
