This creaky old house is very charming and reminds me of a visit to grandma. It has everything you need for your stay. The stairs are steep so those with mobility issues should look at the pictures and think about whether it will work.

Comfortable house that allowed us to explore south Iceland.would stay again.

We had a lovely stay in the house, we enjoyed doing some cooking in the kitchen, which saved us from spending lots of money eating out every day. The location was great for us, only 45min to Reykjavik and good for the golden circle too. Would definitely stay again, when we return to Iceland.

Kids named it the Creepy House. In their opinion, it was sad it was being used as a vacation rental instead of a museum offering. I couldn’t agree more, as all of original owner’s pictures and decorations are still there. Brings up memories of visiting my own late grandmother. Although not unusual in Iceland, one is asked to do a cleaning prior to leaving. It would be nice if this was advertised in the original listing, as it is a minor inconvenience we try to avoid during our vacations. Internet is provided via a cell hotspot. Not a big deal, but we asked kids to refrain from video streaming to be respectful of the owner’s data plan. There is a washer machine, but no dedicated dryer. We simply finished drying the last batch of laundry when we got back home. There is one small bedroom downstairs and two beds upstairs. If there’s 5 of you traveling, two beds will be shared. A foldable bed was found behind the couch upstairs, but it did not seem like a good option. Gas station across the road did not bother us a bit. In fact, it came in handy to grab a quick carton of milk in the morning. Property owner is quick to respond, take care of issues and address concerns. Check-in process is a simple as it could be – key lockbox is outside.
