My home in Tanzania

Quiet and not touristy area, I appreciated this place especially for the lovely people who work here, at the beginning I booked for 2 days but than I stood 2 weeks !

Don't change this place in a fancy lodge as many others you can find everywhere and respect workers rights.

Nice place with great stuff and basic facilities

Very nice staff and original setup

Fan in my room didn't work which was a bit of a challange with most nights being over 30 degrees centigrade.

Back to the basic, the best choice!!!

When looking for a genuine, immersive and take it is experience Kitu Kiblu is a great choice to take. We spent a wonderful week there and are enthusiastic of all facilities and people; everything is exactly as described in the profile. Accomodations could be choosene to be more discreet (on the trees) or more common and we strongly suggest the second option; apart from an incredible quality/price ratio the whole experience deserves to be done! We appreciated so much to have shower in the jungle surronded by palm leafs and accept a rope is the door for the toilet (yes, it's true and frankly speaking all is priceless!!!!). All the description look a bit as only for brave and indeed this "return to the basic" is exaclty what I think it should be experienced to understand we don't need that much to feel happy, just go back to the essential and appreciate!!! People have been very friendly and inclusive and did their best to let us feel welcomed and help for local activities.

Communication in english is not always fluid but this didn't affect at all and we always got to the point at the end!!! :-)

Excellent stay short term.

The added half board option when staying here. It made my stay more affordable. The staff here is super helpful for anything you might need. The added supply of unlimited purified water meant I didn't need to buy bottles water which is good. The fact that they have whale shark conservation and tours made it easy after I overslept to still make it with minimal delays to the overall group. The location to the airport is also good. Your data will usually work even when it say there is a signal. It can be choppy but it works. Best place was by the yoga space.

I think even though the room was budget there should be a mirror either in the room or in the bathroom. A chair would be helpful in the room as well even if it's a budget stay.

Blissful Stay

This was the perfect spot to unwind and take in Mafia. Located in the beautiful coastal jungle, but still close enough to explore Kilindoni, and only a short ride to the marine park. The property was clean, safe and the staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. Everyone treated me like family. Comfortable beds, and beautifully built unique and authentic treehouses!! I’ve never stayed anywhere like this. My favorite part about this spot was the seaside bar that overlooks the ocean, it’s the perfect setting to have a cold drink and watch Mafia’s unbeatable sunsets. Highly Recommend 10/10

Lush jungle and beach hideout

Super friendly staff and amazing location. The hotel is nested in one of the last remaining piece of jungle by the beach, there are mango trees, Cashewnuts trees, coconut trees, terminalias, zanzibari trees and a lot more I coudln't identify. All the rooms are made of wood and palm leaves only , almost no concrete here ! The basic twin rooms are basic but clean and comfy for the price point on the beach. The other rooms look fancier, like safari tents in treehouses. There is a local population of monkeys living on the property , you can't miss them , but that also explains some of the wire mesh on the rooms openings. The showers are in the nature , under the trees and the heating system is working with some kind of kerosene boiler which gets really cool pictures of the flame shooting out the boiler with the stars at night ! The bar is also in the middle of the trees and made of old local sailboat wood giving it a sort of pirate hideout vibe. The beach is really nice at high tide, but like everywhere on this side of Mafia Island at low tide the water goes quite far out so do not expect to be able to swim all the time. The restaurant area is located on a large deck overlooking the few mangrove trees and the ocean in front , perfect for a sunset !

To access the property you have to find a small path going right around and behind the police station (you can walk from the airport easily) and then the path is quite steep downhill to the beach , make sure you warn them when you arrive so you can be guided / helped.
