About this cottage rental
Nestled in San Rafael, this attractive cottage for $170 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. This is a beautiful, 20-sided shingled cottage set on more than an acre of oak trees, with views of the San Francisco Bay through the trees. The property is gated with off-street parking. This unique guest house offers one bedroom with a queen bed, and a full size sofa bed in the living room. Windows in every room look out into the oaks, where you can see deer, squirrels, and occasional rabbits. The cottage was built with the finest materials, including slate roof with copper gutters, bamboo and slate floors, granite counter tops, tumbled marble shower, and maple cabinets. A deck with glass railing encircles the entire house. There is a full kitchen with refrigerator, gas cook top, True convection oven, and dishwasher. Wireless high speed Internet and cable are included. The Bay View Cottage is just 2 miles from charming downtown San Rafael, and about the same distance to mountain biking, hiking, and picnicking at China Camp State Park. Don't feel like cooking? The neighborhood grocery store is about a 10 minute walk from the cottage, and their deli offers an extensive selection of salads, sandwiches and pizzas, as well as complete gourmet meals. The wine selection is incredible. PLEASE NOTE: Guests have use of the hot tub, which is on the deck of the main house. You may use it most any time; just give us advance notice. We will close the blinds on that side of the house and you will have a sense of privacy and a view of the SF Bay.

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights in November—it was just what we were looking for. It’s quiet and tucked away, and that view is lovely. The place is as pictured and communication with the host was great. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it anymore

The location made in a perfect spot for day trips north to wine country. Private and nestled into a natural setting, the cottage was clean and well equipped. Off the beaten path, with easy access to the main routes to the beauty of Northern California, this is a great vacation spot.

The San Rafael treehouse is a wonderful dome house located in a beautiful, secluded section of San Rafael. It has an very nice view of San Francisco Bay from a circular deck with a glass railing which helps to provide a better view. The house is very modern and clean and includes pretty much every amenity you need for 1 - 4 people. My family (my wife and two children) slept comfortably in the house and didn't need much outdoor space other than the deck because we were so close to a lot of attractions which kept us busy all day, such as the San Francisco city area and Muir Woods. The city is easily accessible from the Larkspur ferry. We also enjoyed meeting the owners who were very gracious and hospitable but didn't "drop in" or check in with us all the time which gave us much appreciated privacy. Joe's suggestion to take the ferry also proved a real winner! Overall, great experience.

This was absolutely an amazing place to stay. We wanted to experience SanFrancisco and this place was so amazing we never wanted to leave the house most days. Enjoyed coffee on the wrap around porch with birds and spectacular views of the bay! I could go on and on about this place and how welcomed we felt by Mr. & Mrs.Dunn! We will definitely stay there again!

We so enjoyed our stay. The cottage was just beautiful. Everything about our stay and the area was great. I had a brief conversation with Joe at check-in, who was kind and helpful and that was all we needed because everything else was well thought of and we were perfectly taken care of. Would love to re-visit on our next trip when there.

What a delight ! The “Yurt” shaped cottage in the trees was so clean and classy! The cottage felt like a warm hug! We had a lovely talk with the owner upon arrival . It was a perfect location for us to head out on our 3 daily trips: San Fran, Napa, and Pt Reyes. I would highly recommend this property. The harbor is right below with a nice market for groceries, take out meals, and a small bar too! And quick access to Rt101. We would definitely stay again!

We had a wonderful stay in the cutest treehouse/yurt! It was the end of our honeymoon and we were able to stay for several days.
The space was perfect for us. Our hosts were gracious. The view was impeccable. Watching the birds and other creatures was our evening ritual. We can't say enough great things about our stay there. Do yourselves a favor and stay in this amazing treehouse!

We have stayed at quite a few vrbo’s with our kids, and this has been the most thoughtfully crafted, magical, and luxurious place we have encountered.
From the beautifully lit pathway to the brand new fully functioning kitchen appliances, to the plush towels in the simple yet chic bathroom. Literally everything about this place felt like a little gift for our family…
We have 2 children ages 15 and 17, and we decided to have a restful day of hiking and soaking up sunshine before heading into the world of college tours. We were able to park our car and walk up to China Camp
State Park…steep incline… and then walk down to have a yummy lunch at a local deli.
The shared hot tub also was easily accessible and felt private.
If you are looking for a place to relax and find peace among the trees, this is IT!

It was a Very quaint and unique place. We really loved it and want to stay there again some time. The location is convenient to many things, but it is still quiet and private. It was nothing less than perfect!

My cousin and I had a rejuvenating and relaxing stay at this exceptional architectural dream cottage! The surrounding woodland greenery and wildlife was very comfortable and calming. The hosts are friendly, but also respectful of one's privacy. We both would have loved to take the cottage home with us and certainly intend to stay again! In addition, I definitely recommend both of their books for personal growth in easily understandable "layman's terminology!"

Joe & Mali are very responsive hosts. There was a problem with the heating when we arrived.
They immediately took action by supplying us with space heaters and calling heating companies to address the problem. They even invited us to dinner as a way of thanking us for our patience! We loved the beautiful surroundings and hope to return when the weather is warmer so that we can enjoy sitting out on the deck.

We stayed here for 7 nights. This place is great. It's very clean, up to date and quiet. We enjoyed the privacy of the property and the view through the trees of Loch Lamond Marina. Everything was provided including a full kitchen with all the utensils, coffee maker, dishwasher and refrigerator. Although we didn't watch much tv, we had access to Netflix, Roku, Prime Video and a few other streaming services. Joe and Mali were great hosts. We will definately by staying here again.

Joe's round treehouse is a fun place to stay when visiting the San Rafael area. The place is surrounded by trees and birds with a great view of the bay as well. While the property is small, it is very comfortable and has everything you should need for a visit (note that there is no laundry in the unit).
We felt like we were in a private treehouse even though Joe's house is not far away. With the wraparound deck, you can lounge outside with a view in whatever direction you'd like!
We highly recommend Joe's place for your next visit to Marin County!

Absolutely the cutest little cottage tucked back - I HAD to stay here. We based our 15 year anniversary trip off this rental and couldn’t be happier! It was far enough out of the city for seclusion and quiet but a fun drive to our destinations! It’s adorable! Clean and as described. Highly recommend for a romantic getaway!

Our experience was more than we expected! So amazing! Communication with the hosts was great, every detail of the place was well thought out and they even had fresh flowers in the vases when we got there! We felt cared for, appreciated and valued as guests.

The only concern I had was not with the property, it was through the VRBO search. I originally had Vallejo in my search and somehow this one showed up. Glad it did it was very nice but added another 30 minutes travel time to our other destination. The property was great even the wild turkeys wandering around and San Rafael was a nice place.

This is a lovely property in a lovely setting. Quiet natural setting yet very convenient to all that Marin has to offer. The hosts, who live in the main house on the property, were responsive and friendly but unobtrusive…which was perfect for us. The unit is well appointed and maintained and extremely clean. Our mid-week rate was an excellent value for such a great property and location. Overall, very highly recommended.

Joe and Mali are the best hosts!! A small snafu in the beginning was immediately handled beyond our satisfaction! The beautiful round cabin was very clean and just as advertised with very comfortable accommodations and everything you could possibly need. Of course bring your own food or eat out at amazing restaurants in San Rafael, Mill Valley, Tiburon, or Corte Madeira as we did. We will definitely return and soon I hope!! Thank you Joe and Mali.
