We really enjoyed the view and location of this house. My only complaints by is that if you really want to do some good cooking the kitchen pots and pans are not very good. Could use an upgrade in this area.

Docs Retreat has a stellar location with a stunning view from its backyard bench. A older home with an odd entrance, once you walk inside the home it’s cozy and very functional. No recent remodel, older furniture, but we fell in love with Docs retreat in quick order. The main bedroom has a high profile height firm bed that is very near the single bathroom. The second bedroom has a softer bed and a very small closet, and is on the other side of living room. The kitchen is fully stocked with silverware and dishes, pans. A dishwasher and w/d make the stay completely fuss free. There are exceptional views from the kitchen and living room windows, though the backyard bushes were a bit overgrown when we were there. The back yard is deep, but the observation bench is easily accessed by a cement walkway. There are books and movies and dvds..all the electronics you need, cable tv with Netflix, and other smart tv features. A wood burning stove in the living room, though we didn’t use. Every room has a wall heater that warms you up quickly. A vacume cleaner is available in the hot water heater closet if your stay is long. We stayed 3 weeks and would go again in a heartbeat. One caveat, we told property mgrs about a broken blind in the living room, they didn’t offer to fix the blind so we placed it on the sill, and had sun in our eyes for 3 weeks. We didn’t complain but it was a nuisance. For that reason I gave a 4/5 rating.

As some others have said in their reviews, this place could use some TLC, however the important things (to us anyway) were great. The place was clean. The bed was comfortable. Everything worked in the bathroom and kitchen. And the view from the bench in the backyard is stunning. We had good weather and enjoyed a few meals right there on the bench.

Doc's Retreat is an early 60's beach cabin--well-worn furniture, linoleum floor, small rooms, kitschy wall art. It fit our needs and expectations perfectly. The kitchen was very well-stocked, if somewhat haphazardly organized. The bathroom was small but had plenty of towels. The beds were comfy. The location was ideal. The downside was that the windows are small, so a good cross-breeze was impossible, and the window in the bathroom doesn't open at all. Access to the sandy beach through a nearby park was convenient, and the nearby 804 Trail provided access to a rocky beach. I'd stay here again.

Very comfortable & cozy, I call it a beach cabin vibe. Very clean and well stocked. The outside and particularly the entryway could use some TLC, but ignore it, it is not reflective of the inside. Comfortable furniture and bed, we especially appreciated the excellent lighting! Perfect location for visiting Yachats, no more than a half mile walk to anything. We did not use our car all week. Excellent eating i n Yachats.

This property was all it purported to be. Although the bathroom is small, it was clean and having a shower was best for us. The cabin is a bit rustic, but the views were amazing and all the restuarants and shops were nearby.

The house had a great view of the ocean with beach access not very far away. Everything was clean and ready for us. We did find sheets left in the dryer. My only complaint about the property is that there were no outside lights. Fortunately we arrived before it got to dark to unload the car. Since it was raining I probably wouldn't have unloaded the car if it was dark dur to safety. Otherwise it was great.

Doc's is dated from a furnishings standpoint and could use a queen size bed in one of the rooms instead of a double. The mattresses are a tad on the soft side. However, the kitchen is well equipped and the house is clean. For the price, the location cannot be beat as it is a short walk to everything in Yachats and the views are excellent.

We had a very relaxing stay. It was cozy with a wood stove we took advantage of. Great view of the ocean, basically the whole side facing the ocean is windows. Perfect size for Hubby, Son, 2 dogs and me.
It is older, but we didn’t mind that. it’s in a nice, quiet, neighborhood. it was clean and had comfortable beds. Wish it had more comfortable furniture for lounging. Very small bathroom and the shower would probably be too small for a larger person to turn around in. We Didn’t have any trouble with electrical or plug ins as others mentioned. We cooked the whole weekend and it was stocked with everything we needed for that. Overall, I had a great time and will book again.

The place is such an awesome location and one of the best for for view and cozy! We had four adults and I would not recommend any more than that. The rooms are very small and the one bathroom is tiny w very small shower. Other than that we had an amazing time at Docs retreat!

This needs serious updating. One light when turned on blew the fuses so we had no lights until Odyssey came to open the garage and reset the fuses box . It happened a second time. Living room furniture very old and uncomfortable. Shower door does not close. Screens missing on windows - shame because ocean front is great.

A functional arrangement of furniture with a good mattress in the small main bedroom. Shower was tiny and door out of plumb, but plenty of towels were provided. Great wood stove. Dangerous entrance with no outside lighting and dated concrete ramp though. The view from the front window is not as good as the website photo. Someone left a plate of dirty? in the top shelf of the pantry.

The location of the home on a bluff with a beautiful view of the ocean. Walking distance to town, library and trails. This home is great for kids and dogs. The decor is practical, funky but functional. We enjoyed our stay here with our 2 dogs. Peter, the property manager was very helpful.

Pluses:1. Location--as described, beautiful and handy to town.2. Good wifi and cable TV service.3. Well equipped kitchen and bedroom linens.Minuses:1. Except for one in kitchen, all electrical outlets appear to be ungrounded two-prong sockets--thus, incompatible with some electronics and possibly a threat to them in an area susceptible to outages and resultant power surges.2. The house is described as pet friendly, but I still would not expect the excessive amount of pet hair present in the carpet and chairs. Luckily I was not allergic to whatever breeds were represented. Otherwise, cleanliness was acceptable.3. Some minor problems--unworking coffeemaker, broken unusable kitchen window shade, illegible instructions for washer and dryer use.WOULD RECOMMEND PROPERTY WITH RESERVATIONS LISTED UNDER MINUSES

Loved waking up every morning to this view, and walking to all of the shops in Yachats. Doc's Retreat could use a little love (maybe a coat of paint) but the bed was super comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. One of the things we were hoping to enjoy were the recliners that are pictured on the vrbo listing, but there are not recliners there. We did contact Ocean Odyssey for one issue and they responded very quickly.

Coastal Vacation
The ocean view was beautiful, the home was clean, however, very old. Would recommend electrical updating, all plugs did not work, extension cords running underneath the rug, cord hanging down in the kitchen in front of the microwave for a light. Bathroom is very small. The beds were very comfortable, and linens comfortable and clean. We had a wonderful weekend.

Overall, it was fine, but as I reported when we arrived, we were disappointed that there was no clean bedding (sheets) for the pullout, lightbulbs were burned out in the bedroom (and no replacements), and many dishes were not clean. I am also disappointed that the management we spoke with indicated we would be granted some kind of reprieve for the trouble, which I took to mean a discount off our our costs, but we never received such a credit.

this was a wonderful place to stay and would do so again. the only difference I would request that a whole roll of TP(not a partial) be available and the clean dishes in the dish washer would be put away. we walked all over and enjoyed the view! thank you Ocean Odyssey and the owner of the home for sharing.
