Situated in Surf City, this attractive house for $539 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. “Surf Monkeys” is a towering five bedroom 5 1/2 bathroom oceanfront house located in Surf City, just a few blocks from shopping, restaurants and the fishing pier. This house sleeps 14 and features two huge L-shaped decks with panoramic ocean views, flat scren TVs, high speed internet, an outdoor cold water shower and much more. The house also offers complimentary linens. Enter the house through the front door located on the street side and into the lower level which conveniently houses four of the five bedrooms. Three of the four bedrooms have queen sized beds and the additional bedroom has two twin bunk beds. Each bedroom has a private bathroom with stand up shower and flat-screen TV with roku and the Spectrum cable app. At the end of the hall the laundry room can be found with the washer and dryer and also access to the lower deck. Upstairs you will find an open living area with a large kitchen featuring a breakfast bar and huge dining table, perfect for family meals. The comfortable living room provides ample seating and a flat screen TV with cable. The couch folds out to a queen sleeper for even more sleeping accommodations. Off the kitchen, you will also find a half bathroom. The entire area boasts bright airy spaces, ocean views and a door opening up to the expansive top deck. The master bedroom is located on the upper level and provides a king bed, large en suite bathroom with a huge stand up shower, Jacuzzi tub and double sinks. My family and I enjoyed staying at Surf Monkey’s. Plenty of parking. We all throughly enjoyed the fact that we all had private restrooms attached to each bedrooms.

Our overall experience staying at this property was great. We had a large family gathering celebrating a Fall wedding, and we were quite comfortable. We appreciated the "silver linen package" being provided and check-in process was seamless. We enjoyed the wonderful views, amazing decks, bathrooms in each bedroom, spacious living area and kitchen with all the necessary amenities. The overall rating of 4 instead 5 is due to inoperable windows and lack of screens on most windows making it difficult to open window for ventilation. Blinds and windows need to be serviced for functionality to be increased.

First let me say that Kelly front the property managers group was awesome. Super helpful, got us an early check in and great communication, very pleasant and on the spot when we had questions. Now the house. Pros…. The kitchen is stocked with plenty of pots pans dishes and such. The size of the house is great and it’s nice to have a bathroom in every room. For the most part it was clean and it worked out adequately for our needs. Cons…..It’s in drastic need of upgrades. The kitchen counters are old Formica and are wearing out. None of the kitchen windows would stay open and most of the blinds are not working well either. The linens needed to be requested and there were no beach towels (for a house on the beach). The bedrooms don’t come pre made up and u get the linens in a couple totes delivered to the front door. There was not one roll of toilet paper in the house. I know it is advertised as needed but not one in 5 bathrooms. The bathrooms were functional but small (understandable for the size home) and also in need up updating. The shower in the bathroom I used needed a better cleaning as there was mold on the door and around the edges. I also noticed an odd seeping leak from the wall when using the shower. The kitchen and living area was on the top floor. So if anyone walked around in the morning it’s very loud and u can hear it on the second floor bedrooms very clearly. The floors were not put in right and many gaps were visible in the open areas and the panels slide back and forth. The exterior decks, while nice sized. had many raised nails and areas where the wood had splinters sticking up. The stairs could use some maintenance as well. The downstairs storage has some beach items (toys and such) but was not organized and everything was just thrown there. I understand that this is a rental and it’s purpose is to make money. But for the area and what I would assume to be clients with “means” this house could be so much better with some TLC and a little more catering to the comfort of its renters. In all our family had a nice time and enjoyed our stay.

The 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms were perfect for our family to spread out! It was so nice to send all of the kids to separate showers after a day at the beach! And the large dining and living rooms were perfect for family time. The view was amazing! The property manager was very responsive for questions we had. Definitely would recommend this place and this location!

We had a great time at this beach house. It had everything we needed and more. The view was gorgeous and we especially loved the back deck. We will definitely be back.

Upon our arrival the cleanliness of the house was not acceptable. You could clearly see areas that were not even touched. Below is a detailed listing of what was so bad. We had to clean the house ourselves to feel at ease. The biggest disappointment comes from the emails from the rental group stating that extra cleaning measures were being taken due to COVID, clearly not the case. In general, we were disappointed with the quality versus the price we paid. We did email the property group with our concerns, their response was “what can we immediately fix” and of course, the only fix would have been to actually have someone do a deep cleaning of the house, but that would have just been more of an inconvenience to us. Upon arrival there was sand on the kitchen floor and on the dining room chairs; in the master bathroom we found hairs in the bathtub and stuck in the hair dryer, really just showing that it had not been cleaned since it's last use. Also, in the master bath, the shower door doesn't seem to have been cleaned in a while, it clearly has a film of use on it. In one of the downstairs bedrooms we found dead roaches in the bathroom (behind a trash can) and in the closet, showing that those areas were not vacuumed. In the basement/main floor area there are probably 10-15 dead roaches, not sure why the cleaning staff wouldn't sweep those up? The back-sliding door glass was clearly dirty with fingerprints and the trim was also dirty with dirt/grim, as was the refrigerator door. The baking soda package in the fridge used for odor says it should have been replaced in July 2018. Luckily, we brought plenty of dish tablets and washed everything before we used it. We also washed some other items that obviously hadn’t been washed in years (if ever). None of the windows work, you cannot open them. If you try to open them, they slide down and close. Would be nice to be able to open them to let the breeze in. They are true to word that they don’t have any consumables bring everything: trash bags, aluminum foil, toilet paper, tissues, hand soap, dish soap, sponges, paper towels, wipes, zip lock bags and all other general toiletries. The beachfront location was the saving grace. We spent everyday on the beach and that was nice. There is a good amount of leftover beach toys and chairs that a family could use. All in all, we don’t feel we got the value for what we paid. We would not stay here again.
