About this cabin rental
Peaceful creek side home on a paved road in the heart of the Black Hills just 3 miles south of Hill City. Relax on the large deck and listen to the running creek in the front yard then cozy up to the wood fireplace in the family room when it's cool. Perfect home away from home close to Mt. Rushmore, 1880 train, Crazy Horse, Mickelson Trail, Custer State Park, and anything you wish to see in the Black Hills as this is centrally located making it easy for day trips. An ideal spot for family vacations, exploring the back roads of the Hills on atv's with trails just up the road or hiking the Mickelson trail nearby. Motorcycle riders love our place since it's all paved roads. Our home provides you with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Master bedroom has it's own bathroom and walk out deck overlooking the creek. Leave the window open at night and sleep to the sound of the creek. There is a log bunk bed at the end of the living room with the bottom bed a queen and the top a twin. Fully furnished kitchen, but need to bring your own food. Gas grill, tv and DVD player. Bedding provided. No pets allowed. Need a larger property? Great location for us. 2 couples over 60 years of age.
Close to Hill City and Rapid City and Keystone.
The train and ATV rentals available in Hill City were fun and the restaurants were good. We enjoyed the house.

We loved the location of this property. Off the beaten path but close to many activities. My favorite thing was the live creek running through the property.

Property was everything we hoped for. Private, no close neighbors. We were lucky in the week we chose to go. Temperature was mid 70s during the day and 50s during the night.
Centrally located and easy drive to any attraction in the hills.
The house has everything you could possible need if you choose to either cook in or BBQ.
If i had to find fault in one thing it would be alot of ATV traffic on the road in front of the house, especially early in the morning. Must be and ATV trail near by.
All in all a great stay and definitely would stay there again when visiting the Hills..

This property was just as the owner described. Close to Hill City and all the sites, yet a very quiet and private location. Needles Hwy, Iron Mountain Rd, Mt. Rushmore and Sylvan Lake / Custer Park are all a short drive away. Spearfish Canyon is a little further (about an hour) but is a beautiful drive with a ton a wildlife and some cute waterfalls. This house is a wonderful setting with a pretty little creek running through the property that you can hear as you fall asleep in the upper bedroom. Owner kindly messaged us when she heard about a power outage in the area during a storm to see if all was well (it was). Roomy yet cozy house worked well for our family of four. Will definitely check into it again next time we are in this beautiful area.

My sister, her husband, my husband and myself, came up to the Black Hills as a get away because it is almost exactly between Thornton, CO and Souix Falls, SD. This cabin met all of our needs. The kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfast, the beds were comfortable and clean. We LOVED sitting outside on the deck catching up and listening to the sounds of nature and the creek.
I would have given 5 stars for cleanliness, but the house has a musty order and now that weather has warmed up the windows need a good cleaning. (Some of the windows did not open, possibility because they need to be cleaned. )
We all agreed we would go back again! Melissa, the host is great!

The cabin was in a beautiful setting with a nice deck and lovely stream running through the property. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware, dishes and utensils. There were plenty of towels as well. The location is close to Hill City and about a 30 minute drive to most of the nearby parks and attractions. On the negative side, upon arrival something had fallen from the ceiling onto the bed in the downstairs bedroom. Thought it might be insulation, but this continued to happen throughout the stay and whatever the material was obviously contained insect debris. We moved the bed over as far as possible. When reported to the host, she said that was the first she’d heard of it and was probably a leak caused by recent heavy rains. Also, we never got the satellite TV to work. The host gave some tips to try…told her we had already tried them. One of our party had experience in cable TV and tested everything she suggested and then some. Also, we did not realize when booking that this property has NO air conditioning whatsoever. If having television or AC is important to you this may not be the property for you. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

A group of us came from Iowa for our friends 40th wedding anniversary and the house was perfect for us. We had 5 motorcycles and 1 car with us. The bikes fit perfectly under the car port and there was plenty of room for the car. The house was stocked with everything we needed. The deck area is perfect for gathering. The babbling brook is awesome, especially at night sleeping with the windows open. It is a great location if you are wanting to explore the Black Hills. One thing I would suggest is to make the house number sign larger. We can in after dark and it was very hard to find. Other than that it was perfect!!

We stayed at this home with some good friends who had never experienced the Black Hills. The home was so peaceful, spacious, and comfortable. It exceeded our expectations and couldn't have been more perfect for our get away. We had some rain showers while we were there and with the stream, aspens, and lush vegetation we felt like we were in a rain forest. It's not fancy but it's not crude. It was a very comfortable and enjoyable place to call home at the end of every day. Would definitely stay there again.

We had 2 vehicles with trailers, and the parking was marginal but it did work. The rug in front of the futon in the kitchen was dangerous. We kept tripping on it. Overall it was quite nice.

We really enjoyed our stay at this location. The location is very secluded and we did not have to worry about any neighbors watching. The house very nice with quite a few stairs. If you are a little older or have joint problems, this place would be a little bit more challenging.

The property has an awesome setting with the mountain stream right out the front door. While the property could probably use some updating, it was adequate. the only downside was the lack of response that the refrigerator did not cool for the first 2 days and had to buy a lot of ice to keep our food products cool. The maintenance people are not doing the owner any good - for instance the light in the living room was hanging by the wires and needs some attention. AND an outside water tap with a hose is sorely needed. tks for listening.

My family really enjoyed our stay! Very clean and everything we needed was there. Perfect location to visit Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse.

This home was AMAZING. My son and I woke up early to explore the property ...loved the creek and bridges in the front yard. We saw deer across the street. Found dandelions. Such a nice experience and cabin.

The property and locations were very nice. Disappointed that some lights did not work and one ceiling fan did not work. The master bedroom ceiling fan was not adjustable. The car port saved our vehicle from hail damage.

get away from it all in shady pine paradise
we really liked this location and cabin. Having a covered parking spot was a super benefit too! Easy access to all the Black Hills has to offer from this location. We would stay here again.

We absolutely loved this location. You just can’t beat the stream right out front! Our children loved playing in it. The property was very peaceful and private but still conveniently close to town. The house was well equipped, and we loved all the decks. No WiFi or cell service, but the host was very upfront about that prior to our stay. If you have small children, you may want to bring a couple baby gates to help with stairs. Would 100% stay again!

The house was well equipped, and we loved all the decks. No WiFi or cell service, but the host was very upfront about that prior to our stay. The inside was comfortable but It would add some character to the place if there was some artwork/ pictures on the walls. The master bedroom walls were completely bare and it looked strange. The best part is sitting outside on the deck hearing the stream.
I must say that if you need reliable WiFi or cell service this is not the place for you. The property says it has Wifi but it doesn’t work at all. This was a huge issue for me because I planned to spend time completing my piled up school work and couldn’t . I wasn’t informed that I’d need to go into town if I needed Wifi until 5 days before our stay. We ended up leaving a day earlier and staying somewhere else.
I sent several messages to the owner and haven’t gotten any reply which has left a bad impression on me. If you are looking for complete solitude and disconnecting from the world this is a great place. It is also located very close to some SD main attractions.

This was a wonderful rental experience! The cabin had everything that we needed and more! It was quiet and private, there were even hummingbirds!!!!
