Originally we had planned to stay in Santa Cruz, but this property worked out even better.
Wonderful location - within walking distance to the beach and quaint neighborhood dining options. Beautiful river view.
Enjoyed a delicious dinner at Shadowbrook Restaurant, right across the river - including a unique old-fashioned taxi that picked us up at our place and took us to/from the restaurant.
The house is adorable. Clean. Updated. Quiet neighborhood. Comfortable beds and great amenities for our family. Secure entry. Would love to return!

I was most impressed with the location as it was a short walk on a nice path to the downtown. It has a nice deck that overlooks the trail. However; I would note that there were several kayaks blocking the gate on the deck making it difficult to exit. Overall; the house was clean. However; as we settled into the bedrooms we noticed puddles of water on the window sills in the bedrooms along with a large amount of mildew/mold substance on the back of the window shades. We did contact the owner and he did understand that this was not an ideal situation, responded promptly and did not hesitate with a refund.

The location is amazing, as it’s just a short walk away from downtown and on the river. The house itself is cute and we did enjoy our stay there but there are some things that can been done to make the house more functional and comfortable. The kitchen isn’t well stocked for those who really want to cook and the oven is noisy. The master bed’s middle support wasn’t connected but we were able to fix that. Although it was winter when we rented the house, the weather was good but this kayak was partially filled with water and dirty. Given that we had to strip the beds and wash all the linens and towels, we had to get up early, and unfortunately, the breaker tripped with just a few minutes left and we weren’t able to get a hold of the property manager to locate the separate breaker. As an owners of multiple vacation homes, we feel that asking guests to do the laundry prior to leaving is an unreasonable and it’s a good idea to put mattress and pillow protectors on the beds and pillows. The fireplace heater was noisy and was no clear instructions on how to operate it.

We so enjoyed our stay. The best was that we were allowed to bring our dog. Easy walks to town and around the neighborhood. We loved sitting on the deck in the evenings and watching the river and wildlife. We hope to come back in 2024!

We planned a stay on our winter break. It rained most of the time but the house was cozy for us to stay in and convinient to restaurants and cafe's nearby. Would love to stay again in the summer to take advantage of the deck and watercraft.

Fantastic property. Walking distance to everything in Capitola - Shadowbrook, the beach, Gayle’s Bakery, downtown shopping and restaurants. The deck and creek access were the favourite feature of this property. The availability of the kayaks and canoe were an extra bonus - with excellent weather during our stay complementing their use.
The properties only aspect keeping this property from an all out “5” is that the kitchen was not equipped for established cooks. The kitchen had limited cooking and baking equipment.
Also, as a Lake Tahoe property owner that rents, the request to strip all the bed sheets and towels and wash and dry them was a bit excessive and something we don’t ask our guests to do. The amount of time to complete these tasks kept us from kayaking in the morning before our departure.
That started, the location and kayaks will bring us back as a family or another girls trip.

Everything was perfect. We loved the location and the short walk to town, but found that we were sitting on the deck watching the river behind the home. It has been newly remodeled and updated so it was beautiful and clean inside.

This house has many great amenities, including a wonderful deck and an updated kitchen! It is also amazingly convenient to the quaint shops, restaurants, and bars in Capitola, and of course, the beach! We greatly enjoyed our mini vacation at "A Slice of Heaven on the River in Capitola" and hope to be back again soon!

This Riverview home is wonderful! The location cannot be beat. It’s on the river and just steps from the village and Esplanade. One can spend the day at the beach, in the village or relaxing on the beautifully appointed deck by the river. The amenities within the house, such as cookware, appliances, dishes, linens, etc., are all provided and met our needs perfectly. We absolutely want to return to this home.

Our trip was amazing, we loved how we were walking distance to every thing in Capitola & the house was perfect, loved the deck - so peaceful sitting out overlooking the river. My kids are already asking to go back for another visit.

We had a wonderful time staying at the property very comfortable, and all the amenities needed. Absolutely beautiful views. The one and only thing I can say negative is the bed room bed closest to the deck was terrible. But outside of that, we would definitely stay there again.

This place was perfect for our family of 3 including the dog. The location was just a short walk to the Esplanade which was very convenient. The place was well stocked, clean and the backyard deck was was my favorite part. Very relaxing. The only issue was one of the beds. My husband had to end up using the murphy bed. I read that the host is addressing this issue this month!

This property is perfectly placed along the river in capitola. Walking distance from shops and beach which is great. Also close enough to Shadowbrook for their complementary cab service. One thing I will say is the beds were surprisingly small. The listing said there was at least one queen bed but they all seemed about the size of a double. Also due to recent storms the kayaks and canoe were not available.

The property is all that it is advertised to be, and the location makes exploring laid back Capitola super easy...less than a 2 block walk.
A great way to explore the Santa Cruz area without being in the hype of Santa Cruz.
Be sure to make dinner reservations at Shadowbrook Restaurant at the same time you book the property to ensure you get to enjoy another Capitola treasure.

The most unique thing about this property is the main deck with a view of the beautiful wide Soquel Creek. A pleasure to watch birds landing and taking off from the water. Also unique were all of the people on the river walk that we greeted or talked with while relaxing on the deck.
In regards to the place inside - it was clean with an attractive and functional kitchen, bathroom and living room.
Unfortunately, the main bed was very uncomfortable and the second bed too large for the room. Weeds need to be pulled around the deck and the deck completed. Most importantly, because of all the foot traffic on the river walk, the stone pathway needs to be completed for safety reasons. Thank you for this experience.

Why do I want to keep it a secret? Because it was amazing!! Cute little two bedroom on the river. Excellent outdoor space which boosted the likability of the property x10.
Very nicely decorated. Would love to see longer couches and a more comfortable queen bed. Holy cow, so uncomfortable.

This home was perfect for our family of four. The kids (pre-teen and teenager) could easily walk around town, to the beach and Capitola Village shops and restaurants. The house had all the comforts we needed. And communication with the host was seamless.

This location cannot be beat. I wish the weather cooperated more. So, would ideally return in the summer months. The place is clean and super cute. I wish the beds were bigger. Tough to sleep when you are used to a King bed!! But overall a beautiful place!!

Splendiferous location!
River view & access with paddle board, boogie boards, and a canoe. River walk is beautiful, and serene. Stroll to town and beach in minutes!
Wonderful deck has dining table and chairs, and a sofa to relax in nice weather. Our dogs enjoyed greeting passersby, while being completely contained within deck rails. Deck truly makes cabin feel splendiferously spacious.
Fabulous fireplace with remote! Recently remodeled bathroom and kitchen are lovely. Liquid soap and shampoo dispenser in shower is a great amenity. Plenty of dishes provided along with most cookware needed.
Window treatments work effortlessly, and efficiently to provide amazing views during the day, and privacy after dark. All linens and towels very nice. Host provides many streaming services, and a TV in each room.
We truly appreciated the door locks! We had a little trouble finding the keypad the first time, but once you know where it is, it’s FABULOUS and so easy. No key is required, so there is no key to remember when you leave for a walk, or to lose when you go to the beach! I loved that!
GREAT communications! Host available by text and phone for any issues and replies promptly. I contacted him with several questions before our stay, and a couple of questions once we got here, and he always replies promptly. He was very helpful in making our stay more pleasant.
This cabin is almost perfect, but we do have one complaint and it’s a BIG one.
I do not recommend for people who need a supportive mattress.
We paid four nights, only stayed three, because we could not face spending another night on that bed! My feet were higher than my head, so we ended up putting pillows at the foot of the bed, and feet against the headboard, so at least all the blood didn’t run to our head, but we still slept very little.
The mattress offers no support and seems to sink everywhere. The bed frame is wider than the mattress. And the mattress is at least 6 inches wider than the mattress topper, so you end up rolling into the middle so you don’t slide off the incline at the edge. My back hurts, and I am exhausted.
When I contacted the host about the mattress, he was shocked. He said he sleeps on it four months of the year, and is comfortable. So possibly it’s just me and my sweetie, but I wanted to mention the mattress in case anyone else also needs support when they sleep.
If you are too young to worry about aches and pains yet - RENT this place! It’s truly awesome!

I stayed with my husband and two kids, 4 years and 1 year. This house was great for having little ones. I appreciated the minimal amount of clutter, yet enough tools and supplies to make the stay comfortable. Nice and clean. Great outdoor space too!

This property had everything we needed to celebrate a birthday with style. The canoe, 2 kayaks, and stand up paddle board were so much fun Guests enjoyed the glow of the flame displaying heaters inside and outside. Super friendly community as people walk by on the path near the river and say hello. Only a few minutes walk to Capitola beach and surrounding areas. Shadowbrook restaurant is visible at night across the water with it's string lights. We may look to stay here again in the future, it was that enjoyable for us.

This is a very small 2-bdrm, 1bath house with amazing views of Soquel Creek. The kitchen was nicely updated with everything you would need. But as nice as it is, we found the house to be just too small for our needs.
