About this house rental
Nestled in Moss Beach, this charming house for $466 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. My home is located just 1/2 mile from the beach and the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve. Relax on the deck with ocean views and watch the whales and amazing sunsets while enjoying a glass of wine. A second deck located downstairs features a hot tub, fire pit and grill. Locally find sailing, kayaking, horseback riding, as well as, many hiking trails. Located just a few miles from the sight of the Mavericks Surfing Contest. Half Moon Bay is 7 miles to the south and San Francisco is about a 20 minute drive. The home is fully equipped for your comfort with dishwasher, washer and dryer, fireplace and 60 inch TV with cable and free WIFI. The kitchen and bathrooms have been recently remodeled with granite counter tops and wood floors. Master bedroom has a king size bed and full bath, 2nd bedroom has a queen size bed and 3rd bedroom has built in twin size bunk beds. A second full bath is off the hallway and shared with bedroom 2 and 3. Off street parking will accommodate 2 cars. I live in an apartment above the house. It has a separate entrance with no access from within the main house. For security purposes, on August 30, 2019 we are installing Ring doorbells that record those entering the home. There are no devices inside of the home. To ensure you get settled in and have a great start to your stay with us, we will provide an initial supply of toilet paper, facial tissue, and paper towels, but these may not be enough for your entire stay and you may need to purchase additional supplies.

Is this house a scam? I had rented property ID: 866516 in Moss Beach, CA, from June 9-June 13, 2022. On June 10th I received a message that the property owner has strict limitations for the number of people allowed on the property imposed by the county. I messaged a response seeking clarification and offered solutions including providing an updated list of names of occupants or to have some of our family stay with other family members. I asked for a phone conversation as well. On June 10th at 6:15 PM, while we were at the rehearsal dinner, the owner taped the cancellation on the door. We had to pack up and leave the property on Friday night in the dark. I can't tell you how upsetting this was for all of us. My 80 year old parents were able to make the trip to California to see their first granddaughter get married after two years of wedding delay due to covid 19 and now they were without lodging late on a Friday evening in an unfamiliar town. I do not understand who does this to a family and avoids a request for a personal conversation to clarify understanding and resolve any issues. After pleading with the owner through VRBO messaging, the final response from the owner was "I'm sorry but it has already been cancelled by VRBO. You will need to contact VRBO". I could not believe it and thought maybe we had been scammed.
I listed five people on the reservation, as I was unsure at the time who would all be making the trip to CA. I apologized and asked for further clarification and how we could resolve any issues. According to the San Mateo County (CA) short term rental ordinance 4777, we were not in violation of county limitations. We could have up to eight guests in this house, but since I forgot to go back into the reservation months later and update our travelers, we were tossed out.
I most certainly did not want to cause any problems. I have rented many times through VRBO. I am an excellent tenant and take pride in leaving the rental in the best possible condition.
This astonishing incident cost us a lot of money. When I shared the problem with VRBO, the response was kind and efficient in replying, but indicated only the property manager could refund our money. VRBO requested that the property manager reply in 24 hours. It has been 10 days, plus I sent another message to the property through the app. Still no reply. I'm out over $1700 dollars and a lot of family tears.

The sofa and the armchairs were so so confortable. The hot tub and the view were a real treat. The house was clean, however cleaning can be improved in spaces like kitchen cabinets, under the beds or in the corners harder to reach. Overall a great experience. Definitely recommended.

Peaceful Getaway
Our family of 5 was very comfortable at this property. Check in/out was easy. Property looks exactly as shown in the pictures. The neighborhood is very peaceful, great for a relaxing vacation. Best part are the amazing views of the ocean and a quick drive to the beach. Thank you!!

We loved this property! It was nicer than the pictures showed. The living room had lots of comfy couches and the wifi was great.
If you have an adult on the bunk bed, our lady found the bottom bunk a bit soft but that's a personal thing.
Loved the back yard and hot tub - very nicely done up out there!

Nice quiet place in Moss Beach
Excellent house in a quite neighborhood. The property was very clean and exactly as described on the website. The beach is about a 20 min walk but there are other options 5 to 10 min drive away in Halfmoon Bay.

Amazing!
This house is amazing! Between the two outdoor sitting areas, the fire pit, the hot tub, and how comfortable the inside is, you never have to leave the house. But if you choose to, there’s a lot of fun activities within a short distance.

Fantastic stay, great views, lovely house and a superb host
This stay was a quasi-"stay-cation" while our (wife and self) home was undergoing a remodel. It could not have been a better arrangement. The spacious house (three bedrooms) is easily accessible from BART and San Francisco (<10 miles to BART), has great views, has interesting places (state park, restaurants, a small store) within walking distance, and is a quiet and comfortable place. The patio, fire pit, etc. are great extras. There is a dedicated driveway for parking, and a small deck atop the house from which to view the ocean and whatever birds might be around or residence. The host, Kathy, is responsive, helpful and an all-around wonderful woman. For those not from the Bay Area, there is ample shopping in Pacifica and Half Moon Bay, a wide variety of restaurants in the area, and a stellar number of county parks and preserves to wander. Suffice it to say that we and several guests wandered a redwood preserve and saw whales and flights of pelicans at a state beach, all within three hours. Sad to say, the tine there was all too short, but it is a great memory. We were spoiled. We cannot recommend the property and owner highly enough.

Comfortable Family House
This home in Moss Beach worked very well for a family vacation. All the necessities were provided, the view is lovely and it was easy for young children to play safely (also a great children's park just down the hill). Our only complaint is the couch is very uncomfortable leaving just two chairs for the adults (we were four). Enjoyed this home and would return.

Comfy, charming, and relaxing!
My fiancée's mother hosted an engagement party for us at the Moss Beach Distillery last weekend. I'm from LA, so I flew my family up for the party. I wanted a nice place in Moss Beach, close to the restaurant, and somewhere my family could spend some quality time together. Kathy's house was absolutely PERFECT!!
The house is very clean, comfortable, and has darn near everything you could need! We LOVED the fire pit and the jacuzzi outside and appreciated a well-outfitted kitchen to cook in.
The living room sofa sinks in a little due to there being a pull-out bed, but other than that everything worked well for us.
We had an awesome time and would love to stay here the next time we're in Moss Beach. Thanks again Kathy!

Very cozy quiet place to stay
We enjoyed your little Shangri-La in Half Moon Bay. The hot tub and firepit were a big hit with my grandsons. We could see that on a sunny day your views would be amazing. We would definately return. Great spot!

We had a wonderful trip. Loved the house and location. Everything we needed. Outside space was so relaxing. Just a short walk to the Marine Fitzgerald. Saw seals and whales.. Beautiful place
This house is really nice! The decks are great places to spend the evenings. The top deck has a beautiful view of the ocean - wonderful for relaxing with a glass of wine. The bottom deck - wow - it has everything you need for an outdoor barbecue. The inside is just as nice. Very comfortable! We will definitely rent again!

A beautiful house
We stayed at Kathy's house in Moss Beach the first week of July. We we're completely in awe of how well the house had been stocked with anything you could possibly need. After long beach hikes, it was a treat each night to sit in the wonderful hot tub. We found Sam's Chowder House in Half Moon Bay and ate there twice! The house is very spacious and the fireplace was nice for the chilly mornings and evenings. Just down the street a few minutes and you can whale watch from shore, incredible to say in the least. The beds were very comfortable and we now miss a different "home" and the upstairs crow's nest was amazing. The heat lamps outside made it a nice evening outside, we already want to return. Thanks Kathy!
