Ground Level Apartment Close Proximity To Metro Station
About this condo rental
Nestled in District of Columbia, this lovely condo for $110 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. • The secured apartment is ground level and has all the necessities you may need for your stay. Coffee, teas and some basic breakfast items are provided in addition there are condiments and spices etc, if you prefer to prepare your own meals. While there is no dishwasher there are a full range of appliances both big (gas stove) and small including a rice cooker and a waffle maker, there is also a washer & dryer within the apt. • Yes, towels and bed linens are supplied, there is an Iron & iron board to make your outfit niftier and no apt is complete without a First Aid kit! There is also two hairdryers and a necessity for today’s world: WIFI! A recent addition is safety rails in the bathroom. • There is ample Washington related literature in the apt for guest to peruse. Kids are not forgotten as there are board games and toys for there entertainment. Sorry there is no Cable TV. • Weather permitting, there is a back patio and gas grill for my guest to relax and use, it also provides a relaxing area for smokers. • There is non- competitive street parking directly opposite the apt, I have been providing my guest with a “Temporary Visitor Parking Permit” courtesy DC Gov’t which has allowed them to park there for their entire visit without fear of being ticketed. • Grocery Shopping: There is a local Safeway about a 15 minute walk up Benning Rd, however as it is more convenient to shop at the Harris Teeters which is obliquely opposite the Potomac Ave Metro Station; 2 stops and 6 minutes away where there is also a large Safeway supermarket. There is also a Costco conveniently located at the Pentagon City Metro Station and yes I do have a shopping cart in the apt for bulk shopping. There is another Costco within driving distance (max 15 minutes), this one, to the joy of every Washingtonian sell alcohol! For those that prefer organic products there is the Sun Market and a Trader Joe’s plus an old style market (a must visit on weekends!) near the aptly named Eastern Market Metro Station and Whole Foods near Foggy Bottom Metro Station. • I recommend using the Metro while here in DC. The apt is very near to the Benning Rd Metro Station (0.13 mile/021km) which is served by both the Blue& Silver lines; All the major historical sites such as the Capitol Building, Library of Congress the many Smithsonian Museums and the White House are directly on the route of the Blue and Silver lines the exception being the National Zoo which is on the Red line. • Arlington Cemetery, the Pentagon and Reagan National Airport are all directly connected to the Blue Line route, while there is a shuttle bus linking the Silver line to Dulles Airport. DC is also a walking friendly city; it is small, with great leafy neighborhoods to explore, and a monument around each corner. • Other than the conveniently situated metro station (3 minutes walk max!) there is the 96/97 Bus line that plies East Capitol Street which is directly behind the apt, the 97 route takes you via the beautiful and historic Capitol Hill neighborhood(worth exploring) to the Folgers Shakespeare Library, Library of Congress (Jefferson building is a must see!) Supreme Court, the Capitol Building ending at Union Station. The 96 Bus also goes to the National Cathedral via Union Station and the trendy U St corridor. It is an inexpensive way of viewing DC’s interesting communities and landmarks. • The neighborhood is in transition (judge for yourself) other than the newly renovated Denney’s Restaurant, a 711 Convenience Store, the newly established Shrimp Boat Plaza and some takeout shops in the not too appealing Benning Plaza, there nothing needing exploration in the area. Yes it’s safe to walk from the metro station even late at night, the street is brightly lit and no, you will not encounter people idling on your route from the metro station to the apt, however If you are not comfortable sharing the pavement with people of color, my apt is not for you. Be advised; DC is a wonderful diverse city with an international flavor and 40% of the population being African American!

Convenient location for Metro access. Host provided plenty of info for public transportation, sight-seeing & grocery/restaurant options; also provided pasta on the first evening so I didn't need to venture out after driving all day. I appreciated being able to use the patio area. Thanks Wayne!

This flat has everything you need including washing machine, games, books and even a waffle maker. Furthermore Wayne provides lots of food and other essentials - no need to go shopping on your first day. Blue and silver lines depart just around the corner directly to airports and National Mall.

This place was as good as the reviews had promised. When we arrived later than planned on Saturday, the owner had frozen chicken in the freezer, fresh cookies, and other food available. Several times we found food dropped off at our door - muffins, apples, etc. The owner offered to pick up something for us if needed when my husband did not feel well.
The beds were comfortable, so we slept great! We were about a 3 minute walk from the Metro, and two lines went through which made for frequent trains. There was no trouble parking right across the street from the apartment. The owner was quick to respond to any questions, and he had suggestions for activities when the weather did not cooperate.
Knowing there was not a dishwasher, we brought plenty of disposable dishes which worked fine for our needs. We didn't use the tv at all as we were out exploring or using our various devices. There was plenty of space for our things and comfortable seating in the living room. We didn't use it much, but there was a nice little patio outside. I felt comfortable going on evening walks and could easily stay to lower traffic areas.
We had a great time, enjoyed where we stayed, and will strongly consider staying here again when we visit DC some day. If you want to do a lot of cooking and not need to wash dishes by hand, then somewhere else would be better. Otherwise I would recommend this location!

Wayne went out of his way sharing information about DC before we arrived.
When we arrived Wayne further explained the subway system and places to eat along with providing food for our first night. AC worked great, accommodations were comfortable.
Location to access subway was perfect. Neighbors were friendly. I would recomend this VRBO.
Thanks for your great hospitality Wayne

Our stay was pleasant and I might be willing to stay here again due to the pros listed below. I really struggled writing this review but felt it best to simply list observations and leave it at that.
Pros:
-Inexpensive
-Close to Metro
-Soft beds
-Great host who was informative, communicative, and provided some food for when we arrived
-Lots of things included such as umbrellas, sunscreen, spices, etc that are left over from previous renters
-Fully stocked kitchen
-Games in the closet
-Sleeps 6
-Frozen food left over from previous renters was useful
Cons:
-It’s an old house/apartment and includes all of the things you would expect
—The doors stick
—needs a good painting
—Tiny bathroom
—Vinyl tile on ceiling in kitchen is falling down
—Wood floors could use a good cleaning
-Kitchen table is plywood covered in a table cloth
—This wasn’t a problem but was unexpected when one of my kids leaned on the table and it tilted and looking at the photo of the dining area showing a glass top tells me a previous renter broke the glass and the host just hasn’t purchased a new one.
-A lot of the things included really shouldn’t be left around once a renter leaves such as open toiletries and food.
-Only contains 3 beds when you include the futon in the living room.
-Only one tiny TV in the living room
Overall we were happy with our stay.

We had an excellent stay in Wayne's first-floor apartment. First of all, Wayne is an outstanding host. Because our flight was delayed, we arrived quite late. Wayne was still there to meet us at the door. He was also concerned that we might be hungry after our delay, so he placed some extra groceries in the apartment. He gave us advice about where to eat, how to get around, and what to do in D.C. We greatly appreciated his help.
The apartment had every amenity that we could have asked for. Every time I thought, "I wonder if there is a...," the answer was "Yes." Wayne had even stocked some breakfast essentials so we could get started with our touring right away the next morning without going out to search for something to eat.
Finally, the location was super convenient. The apartment is two blocks from a blue-line and silver-line Metro station. Three stops down the line are a Trader Joes, a CVS, and some great restaurants. And the blue/silver lines take you to important attractions like many of the Smithsonian museums, the National Mall, and the Capital building.
Thanks for everything, Wayne!

We enjoyed our stay. Wayne was available to meet us as we checked in. He was a great host. He had stocked the fridge. The apartment is as listed. We had 4 adults and had plenty of room to sit and relax when in the apartment. We did spend most days away. Just early mornings and evenings in the apartment. Parking was very easy always a spot for our rental car across the street.

Host was very friendly and provided fruit and other items for our arrival. Very accommodating when we needed to use a printer. Apartment is further from DC but close to metro so it was very convenient. Street does look a little scary but neighbors were nice, and we had absolutely no problems. We would definitely stay there again because we were able to cook some meals and park our vehicle for five days.

Wayne was a great host. The property is very close to the metro and easy to reach. The neighborhood was a little active throughout the night, but the property felt secure.

Our host was beyond our expectations. He supplied us with information before our stay. As we arrived the refrigerator was filled we all kind of food like eggs, bacon, orange juice and fruit. Beyond that he was very kind, helpful at full of tips. Never had a better host!

Wayne is the perfect host who lives upstairs. He is always friendly and available with a wisdom of Washington that is waiting to be accessed. He goes beyond and above by providing extra attention to detail with a stocked fridge available to guests and an always cheerful demeanour. The house is extremely comfortable with all amenities provided and a genuine 3 minute walk to the Metro (with a train every 4-5 minutes) with all of Washington's attractions less than 30 minutes away. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would highly recommend it.

Great experience! First time visiting DC for our family, and highly recommend. So close to the Metro, it’s easy to get anywhere. Small but functional apartment works as a good resting spot between adventures. Beds are very comfortable! Description is on point. Wayne is fabulous and goes above and beyond - food in the fridge and cabinets, provides metro cards, information, helpful tips, anything you need. Great alternative to expensive hotels.

The owner Wayne provided amazing service from the very beginning, providing information for the trip and making sure all needs were met!! When we arrived, the apartment was clean, safe, and comfortable!! He left us food in the refrigerator and fresh fruit. He explained the area in detail so we could have an amazing trip!! All needs in the apartment were met. I would definitely stay there again!! I really liked the neighborhood and how close it was to the Metro, which made it easy to see everything in Washington!! Thank you Wayne for making this a wonderful experience for my family and I!!

The listing is just as described. Our host, Wayne, made us feel like rotalty. He provided excellent advice. Made us feel welcome and safe. Just a short walking distance from the Metro. Parking was easy. The complimentary food was a HUGE welcome and so gracious of him. We settled right in and felt like a local. I will stay here again. True DC local experience with a generous guide. Thank you so much for allowing us to visit and see DC through your eyes. .

Wayne was a phenomenal host who went above and beyond to keep us I formed of Al there is to do in DC. He provided many extras I’ve never received at other properties and ensured we were comfortable. I’d stay there again in a heartbeat! We loved the proximity to the Metro and having enough space for our whole family. Since the museums close at 5:30 each night we were able to come home and cook dinner every night which was a great cost savings. I can’t say enough about how much we appreciated Wayne and his kindness.

Wayne goes above and beyond for his guests. From meeting us at the sidewalk upon our arrival to a well stocked apartment of home necessities to goodies to eat to helpful suggestions to assisting in solving problems that arose Wayne was there. The apartment was stocked with everything from toiletries in the bathroom to plenty of towels, blankets, clean sheets, and pillows to a kitchen stocked with spices, cleaning supplies, and breakfast foods for us - he even had a sewing kit that I was thankful to have for an emergency repair. We did not rent a car knowing the apartment was just 1 1/2 blocks from the metro that took us everywhere we wanted to go! We bought a 7 day pass which allowed us to ride not only the Metro, but buses, too! Wayne sent us articles of interest, suggested places to eat, helped me find a place to have a prescription filled with ease, and when we found out the Metro wasn't going to be open in time for our departure flight, Wayne even found us a ride to the airport. I can't say enough good things about our stay at HomeAway. Thanks, Wayne!
Do take the time to read Wayne's description of his place for information to make your stay the best for you and your family.

We had an amazing stay. Our host was so considerate and checked on us regularly to make sure we were warm (it was really cold and we are from the south), gave us advice on where to go and best travel plans. Our host was so thoughtful that one day when it was raining he left us additional umbrellas so each person had their own umbrella. He provided items such as coffee, towel, juice, eggs, bread, muffins, bed sheets, etc. The walk to the metro stop is 3 minutes away.
Highly recommend this host and property.

First off, Wayne is an excellent host with a ton of information about DC at your disposal. He's very friendly and approachable, and the few problems we had were solved quickly and with kindness. The space itself is a wonderful little apartment, very clean and comfortable. There were more than enough amenities and extras for us than we ever would have needed for all aspects of the home. There were no disturbances from those upstairs or next door. Overall, we had a wonderful trip and I would definitely recommend this stay!
5.0
Wayne was the perfect host. He's really thought of everything you could possibly want or need to be comfortable while in DC. The apartment looked exactly like the pics on VRBO and was perfect for our needs. I was able to order groceries from Aldi & they delivered right to our door. Though he had already stocked the place with coffee, Sweetener, bread, peanut butter, something more. He even had laundry detergent & dryer sheets, toiletries. We felt right at home. Apt is close to Subway station, only about a block. As he states in the listing, the neighborhood is being revitalized, so it looks a little run down, but we always felt safe walking back & forth to the metro station and never had any problems with anyone we encountered. I will stay again when we visit the area next time.

This was the most well equipped, hospitable VRBO I have experienced. The owner was so helpful, he explained the trains and buses, had many recommendations for places to get groceries or to see in DC. The train station is so close and easy to find and not that long of a trip into the museums. We had a wonderful experience in the city and in the apartment.

I loved being so close to public transportation. I parked my car and didn't move it until we left. The apartment was great. A bit cozy for the family of 6, but perfect for me and my teens. The best part was the host! Wayne is so friendly and went above and beyond daily. He has recommendations for nearly everything, and tips to make the most of our time. We didn't see nearly everything, so when I return, I plan on staying with Wayne again. Top notch!

Few Days in Washington DC
Wayne was so helpful and considerate. He had metro cards available for use to utilize. He had some breakfast items, condiments, and spices available which made our first morning super easy. The property was so very convenient to the metro just a few blocks down and on the blue/silver line which is the line that most of your DC highlights are located off of. The property was exactly as described and we will definitely book it again when we come back to DC.

Host with the most
Of all of the places that we've rented on trips, Wayne is the most gracious and thoughtful host we've ever met. Wayne's place was a great location for our family to hop on the metro and tour the city. The thoughtful details (instructions in the apartment, guides for DC and surrounding areas, food, metro cards, umbrellas) make his hosting exceptional. We hope to be back and stay here again someday!

An ideal setup for travel with families who prefer city living and public transportation.

Great rental when traveling with teenagers!
The property was wonderful! The pictures don't do the bedrooms justice. We were traveling with two teenagers and the bedrooms were quiet and very comfortable. The apartment allowed for plenty of room for all of us to spread out. We value our privacy when traveling and the owner was easy to reach when we needed something but did not bother us when we didn't. He gave great advice for sightseeing and was very understanding when we arrived much later than anticipated. We had no trouble parking in the neighborhood. We would definitely stay here again!

Friendliest Host Ever!
My family and I stayed here for 6 days. Wayne is an exceptionally accommodating host. Anything you could possibly need is provided, including some breakfast, fruit and sandwich items so you don't have to rush out to the store. Beds are comfortable and residence is right near a metro station. We will absolutely stay again in the future!

This a great place to stay for your visit to DC. One block from the metro and just a few mins from the Capital. We were abke to access all the sights via the metro and buses. We really enjoyed our bus ride to the National Cathedral on the no 96 that stopped right behind the spartment. Wayne was a very gracious host with lots of great information. Dont forget to ask him about the circulator. It is a great way to see the mall.

Wayne was extraordinarily helpful with advice on what to see, how to navigate the Metro System, where to eat, and so on. He checked in often to see how I was doing and to ask if I needed anything. A great experience!
Oh, and I found the area perfectly safe and pleasant. The Metro was a short walk down the street and it took 30 minutes at most to reach any part of central D.C.

Amazing, clean, well stocked, close to Metro
There are not enough positive words to describe Wayne and his rental. From the booking process through our checkout, he was an amazing host. The apartment is exactly as described, has plenty of hot water, is well stocked with all the kitchen items you could need and he even stocked the fridge/cabinets with the basics, saving you from that immediate grocery trip. At the end of a long day in DC, it's a short walk from the Metro to his apartment which is a huge blessing! My only regret is we were too early to see all of his plants blooming in the backyard. My teens are already planning another trip to DC and we will definitely book again with Wayne.

Cherry Blossom time in Washington DC
The apartment was small but perfect for a month long stay. We had everything we needed in the kitchen to prepare meals in the kitchen. The living room/dining area had enough furniture so we all (4 of us, at times) to sit and watch TV. The TV was small, but all TVs are small when you own a 75 in. at home. Wayne had tone of information that we could look through so we could chose where to visit in the DC area. The two bedrooms had a queen and double bed, that were comfortable. The washer and dryer were wonderful and we did not have to take our laundry out. I saved the best for last. Our host was awesome. Wayne was the ultimate host. We were welcomed with a large basket of fruit, croissants, juice, milk, coffee and various other condiments and other things that we did not have to go and buy. He visited us several times in the evening to discuss our day and to make recommendations as to other places we might find interesting. Wayne was kind and personable and he definitely made our home away from home in unforgettable experience. We highly recommend Wayne's place for anyone that wants to stay in the DC area. By the way. The cherry blossoms were gorgeous.

We had all we needed and more. Excellent host. We were gone everyday until late and it was so great to go back to such comfy beds! We definitely recommend and would stay again.

Great stay
We stayed here for a week as a home base for exploring DC. The apartment had everything we needed (and more!), and Wayne had a wealth of knowledge about the area that he was eager to share with us.
Another great feature is the proximity to the Metro - you're just a couple minute's walk from a Metro station, which makes it easy to get most places in DC without having to deal with traffic, parking, or uber/lyft.

This property is exactly as described, with a few extra surprises.
Wayne is a great host. He's very thoughtful and provided loads of great info for exploring the city. The other reviews were accurate - he provided food for our stay and it was perfect (bagels! cream cheese! OJ! and more!).
The location is just right - steps away from Benning Station Metro.
Wayne is a thoughtful & attentive host and if we'll definitely stay there again if we are in the area.
The listing was great - thank you!

Very tidy and lovely apartment equipped with everything you need. Good beds and nice kitchen, living room and bathroom. It’s literally a 5 minute walk to the metro station. Wayne is incredible.
