What a fun experience!

The grounds and history of the place was amazing. So peaceful and serene.
AC was off my first night and the smell of the old building was bad. First night I didn't sleep well. The second night much better.

A good selection of options at an acceptable price. The eggs, bacon/patties, biscuits and potatoes were well cooked and hot.

It was pretty basic.
We stayed here several times about 7or 8 years ago. This time, the staff was less helpful. Ar check-in, I specifically asked about reservations (the website said we did) for meals and were told we didn’t need reservations. We did so we missed a breakfast. The manager of the restsurant was less than helpful.

My only complaint is that the television didn’t have access to all the cable channels, including CNN and MSNBC. Also the pathways to the rooms are poorly lit. We came during the day and located our room; if we had come, for the first time, at night, it would have been impossible to locate our room.

Parking too far away and room small.

Very historical and neat. Good value
Everything was great

Historic location. Wonderful staff. Food was Phenomenal! Such an interesting little side adventure!. The grounds were beautiful.
Buildings, especially welcome center/check in could have been marked better. It was honestly very hard to tell from the signs exactly were to go.

Food was excellent. The tours were interesting.
Need more on site dining options. It needs to not shut down on Mondays. Need elevators and ramps to make it handicap friendly.

Came upon this as it is close to the home of a friend who was visiting and very glad I did! A great place to end and begin days with a beautiful walk. Bed comfortable! Simply wonderful food at the Trustee’s Table 😋
Used to having a fridge and would be nice if windows could open, but for the little amount of time I spent in my room it was just fine

The setting was beautiful. The room was clean and furnished as you would expect keeping to the Shaker period. The buildings were beautifully preserved. Enjoyable walking paths.
The restaurant was a BIG let down. Overpriced and underwhelming for their high yelp recommendations. The rooms are not senior friendly we were placed on the third floor of the East building. Three flights of stairs with osteoarthritis in my right knee was a challenge. The walk from the closest parking lot with baggage was exhausting let alone heave it up the 3 flights of stairs. I would suggest you request a ground floor room if your are challenged with stairs.

Gorgeous landscape, lovely accommodations, plenty to do, sweet staff, delicious food…just about everything!
The only thing I didn’t like was that I hadn’t booked a longer stay…

Beautifully appointed room, and well cared for. The historic setting is a huge part of absorbing the feel of the place and understanding a bit about the Shakers.
We were well satisfied. I don't think we had any complaints.

The location is beautiful and the grounds are exceptional. The historic charm is wonderful for lovers of history like our family. I definitely recommend a weekend here to learn more about the Shaker community and enjoy a tech-free simplistic vacation.
Due to the historic nature of the property, it did not have the modern comforts of a typical hotel. I had a feeling when I booked, but just to help others...the room was humid and the air conditioner was weak. It eventually felt fine, due to the a/c improving or we acclimated to the temperature. The floors are creaky and we had to practice walking softly because it was so loud with shoes and we didn't want to disturb our neighbors. The walls are thin, so we can hear other guests easily through the walls and doors from the hallway. On a Tuesday, we made dinner reservations, but about 30 min before our reservation, we were called to come 30 minutes later due to the kitchen being overloaded. Mind you, we were a party of 2, but I was fine with it since we were not too hungry. We arrived at our new reservation time of 8:30 pm, waiting about 10 minutes for our table, and then a full 45 minutes until our waitress arrived. I was about to get up and leave, but she showed up telling us that she should not have been given another table, but was going to do her best. Not an ideal introduction, but I was with my daughter and wanted to make the best of our girl's trip, so I let it go. The food was fine, nothing special, and overpriced for its simplicity, lack of full flavor, and slow service. The restaurant is historic and charming, but I would only return for the atmosphere, not the quality of the food. The staff was friendly and that made a big difference.

We loved our stay!! So cozy and such a friendly staff! you get free entry to the entire village with the overnight stay, and it was excellent!
The breakfast definitely left something to be desired — just eggs, potatoes, and bacon (all with very little seasoning).

Shaker Village is a beautiful location with fantastic scenery. The rooms have a historical feel to them, which benefits the experience. It is a quiet and peaceful place to stay. The room had plenty of space for two adults and two children.
The comfort of the room was average. The beds were not exceptionally comfortable. The bathroom was less than ideal with water pressure issues and very slow drainage (both the sink and the tub).

Shaker Village is a tranquil, beautiful pastoral setting. My teenage son and I were in the area for college visits, and he was skeptical at first. But after an evening watching baby lambs scamper followed by a delicious dinner, he was sold. The Shakers were right — tis a gift to be simple.

Wrong question. NO AMENITIES.
Shaker Village is a Historic place. That is why we visited. We did not expect to be lodging as if we were the historic figures. We will come back but lodge elsewhere.
The lodging facilities are nothing to write home about. When booking, rooms were shown with chairs and walking room and spacious. Our room was at best 10 X 12, one hard wood chair, a small table, and dresser. Amenities, a Keurig coffee pot. Like I said, we will lodge elsewhere.

Large room. Good location.
Old building with hardwood floors. One night we had noisy upstairs neighbors.

Everything was exceptional.however it would be nice for lower food cost as a couple it was ok but for families that's to much .

It was a very peaceful trip. My husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary and it was the perfect place. The room was clean and welcoming. We had the whole house to ourselves. It was a blessing. Staff was excellent. The house was next to the horse stables and the scenery around was breathtaking. We highly recommend going here if you want peace, quite and a relaxing time.
Only thing I didn't like about it is that we couldn't stay longer. We had to get back home, back to reality.

Although this property is remote, we loved the history and charm of the place. Our room was large and so quaint. The staff was very friendly and the room comes with complimentary access to the exhibits on site. We did not have time to see all of the exhibits but we do plan to go back.
It was perfect.

It has always been a nice place to stay. We enjoyed the tours, we learn something new every time we stay there. It's always been our little peaceful getaway.

We didn't realize it was a historical reproduction village. My husband was so delighted! He works as Colonial Williamsburg, and is fascinated with living history. It was an awesome surprise.
It would be helpful if the signage out front pointing to the Welcome Center included the words Check-In somewhere. The lots can be a little confusing if you don't read the email carefully.
