Very cute, artsy private cottage. Just as described. Hot tub a bonus. Beautiful grounds. Kitchen pretty well equipped, but fridge is small. Gas fireplace keeps place warm and cozy. Short drive to town and beach. Would definitely come back. Great for my little dog with total fenced yard.

The cabin is nicer even than I thought it would be: well-equipped, spacious and comfortable. There is a sizable garden as well. Deliciously quiet, but you get the wonderful sound of the sea when you are outside or inside with the door open.
The host's mother lives nearby and she was very kind and helpful. A lovely person.

My stay here was absolutely fantastic. Pictures don't do the listing justice.
I stayed here for a week after a conference in the area and worked virtually and also explored the surrounding area, the internet speed was great. The air b n b itself felt like a beautiful cabin like retreat. The clawfoot bathtub with the skylights and wood in the interior are delightful. My favorite are the disco balls in the bathroom ;) the hot tub was also an added plus.
I was a little nervous traveling as a solo female traveler but I felt safe here. The host was quick to respond to my questions and finding the place was relatively easy during the day.
A few suggestions - one of the light switches in the bedroom didn't work, the kitchen could use some new glasses, cups, plates etc. and some sugar, the t.v channels didn't work (I had my laptop and internet so this wasn't a problem for me), the glass door lock was a little finicky so I used the white pole to keep it locked from the inside, the bathroom door wouldn't close when I sat down on the toilet (I was alone so this wasn't a problem for me)- the yard could also do with a little more work - these are all minor suggestions. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and it worked out perfectly for a trip in the area.
I will definitely be rebooking when I return to Bolinas. It is a hidden gem.

My partner and I came here to have a relaxing weekend for his birthday and it was so lovely and cozy! We will certainly be back. The reading nook was awesome and the bed was super comfy.

We enjoyed 3 nites in this very special cottage on the Mesa. So peaceful and serene. We are very familiar with Bolinas as my husband surfs there frequently. It was wonderful to be minutes from the town and beach and come back to the cottage and just unwind. The cottage is very well appointed and we had all we needed for our little getaway. Favorite spot was the “nook” where we read our books and planned our day. We will be back. Thanks Jim!

We loved this clean, private and well-appointed cottage and the libertarian, eclectic nature of Bolinas! This town is a real independent and artsy gem and wonderfully unlike most of the rest of Marin County. Even though you can see San Francisco from the cliffs above Bolinas Bay, there's almost no cell coverage here (print a hard copy of the driving directions before you leave home). However, the cottage does have wifi for emailing, texting and web surfing. We used the hot tub every day, did most of our cooking and meal prep here and spent lots of time being lazy on the patio deck during the day and in the cozy reading nook at night. We used the cottage as our base for exploring Bolinas on foot, including the town's 4th of July parade and street party and the tidepools at Agate Beach. We took a day trip about an hour north on Highway 1 to Tomales Bay for local oysters at The Marshall Store and to explore Point Reyes. We found everything we needed - including a great selection of beers, wines & spirits - at the Bolinas Super Market and enjoyed eating at the bar at Smiley's when we got tired of cooking. Thanks to James and his family for making this place a new favorite destination!

It’s a wonderful and unique place, my only cons, teeny fridge, and bath modesty and toilet closet is dinky, plumbing seems scratchy and gurgles, but over all a great experience.

We were very impressed with our little home away from home for 4 evenings. The interior was spotless and all the amenities for cooking were onsite. Upon arrival we noticed the hot tub was very cloudy. Would you believe the owner who does not live in the area drove from his home, drained the tub, added water and clarifier? We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub the remainder of our trip after days at the beach. The property is also equidistant from Point Reyes Station and Stinson Beach. We will return to the property in the future.

My husband and I absolutely love this place We enjoy so much our stay and we were sad to leave. Is exactly like advertising. So cozy and romantic quit, clean and surrounded by lots of nature perfect to scape form the city. Really confortable for a couple or a small family with one or two kids and your dog. The refrigerator is small so I will recommend to bring a cooler. The hot tub and outside shower is remarkable and the bed is big and confortable Highly recommend this place and we will definitely be back soon.

I used the cabin as a prep abd recovery base for a 100k run that started/finished at Stinson Beach, an easy 15 minute drive away. The cabin was clean, compact, with all the necessary tings to make the stay comfortable, including a little ( good for 2) hot tub that was clean and hot, and a claw-foot tub with shower. Was cozy without using the fireplace. Might get a little hot in the Summer? Garden is beautiful, deck to lay out on, bed was comfortable, neighborhood peaceful. Couple of great local restaurants, and a lovely coast drive (about 40 minutes?) to San Francisco if the big city calls you. I strongly recommend this cabin for one or two people.

Truly one of our favorite places we've stayed. James's cottage is a lovely, well-constructed gem of a place. We visited during a chilly part of April in NorCal and we were cozy and warm without ever turning on the heater. Big, private, fenced yard with beautiful plants and flowers, mature landscaping. I was initially skeptical of the platform bed but it was extremely comfortable as was the little loft. The whole place is well maintained and so cozy.
As others have said, it's super close to several beaches, in a quiet neighborhood. James was very responsive when we had some initial confusion - quick, thorough and totally accommodating. He gave us super clear instructions and we had everything we needed. Would love to return.

My wife and I needed a break. James’ place was as advertised. One of the cleanest places we’ve stayed. The yard is lovely for just chilling and a garden on one side of the house that’s nice to explore. James was timely in our communications. We will likely revisit.

We had a great time staying at this coastal cottage. It is private and very quiet. The yard is fenced and dogs are allowed, which we very much appreciate. We especially loved the hot tub-- we used it as a wet sangria bar every night, rain or dry. It is well located about half way between Bolinas Beach and Agate Beach, and both are dog friendly.
The interior design is wide open and a little quirky. A very small toilet space behind a slotted door, and the bathtub is smack-dab in the middle of the cottage. So it is a very private property overall, but not so much on the inside. :)
Check-in was super-easy and James was very quick to respond to questions.

James’s cottage was amazing. The space encourages relaxation and peace. We went on a rainy weekend but we’re still able to have an great time because of the beautiful scenery and awesome set in and around the cottage. Will definitely be returning. James provided all necessary instruction for finding the private cottage and enjoying our time.

Simply can’t be beat for the price! Perfect spot for two adults and a dog. Walk to the beach. Walk to the cliffs with a view of San Francisco and Stinson Beach. Travel the area for unparalleled beauty. Grab a four-star dinner at one of the two great restaurants in the quaint little downtown spot or a drink, and some excellent pub grub at Smiley’s. We will be back!

I appreciated that the cottage looked like it had some privacy, and it did! The little place felt spacious because of all the windows and skylights and there being three separate rooms I could get up early and close doors and write while my husband slept. The soft tub and outdoor shower were lovely. We lounged on the porch quite a bit. It was restful and rejuventing. The technology was well explained and the heat and little kitchenette were easy to use.
