I would not stay here again.
The food was good
The bathrooms in the rooms smelled awful. They made the whole room smell terrible, and it was hard to be in the room with that odor. The owner did not seem to be phased when told about the bathrooms and didn’t seem to care to clean it or make the situation better.

I wouldn’t say it’s good value for money, a couple extra dollars and you can stay at a very nice place just a few hoste
Great location
My least favourite Big Easy do far! Stayed in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. The dorms feel very run down, one of the toilets in the doorm didn’t flush

It’s fine for 1-2 nights
The staff was very nice and the location very good, just on the beach.
The rooms are so dark, very small space, and the cleaning is definitely not the best. But it’s fine for a short stay. The value for money is ok.

You should know what you’re getting yourself into booking one of the cheaper options on the island. You get what you pay
Location on Saracen Bay cannot be beat. Bottle refills for 2000 riel. Easy access to trails around the island. Close to Mr. Nice Guys BBQ, best value meal on the island for $7 with a drink included. The snorkel/fishing/sunset at M’pai Bay/bbq/and phytoplankton tour was EXCELLENT and should not be missed for only $16.
I asked about drink specials when happy hour rolled around and thought it was 2/1 for all cocktails. It is only their house cocktails that are on special, fyi, even though the drinks we ordered were less complicated than a mojito. Staff didn’t clarify until I got the bill. No ATM on the island and the hostel only accepts cash! The sheets looked like they had cigar burns in them and the fan in the room did not work but the AC did and the bed was comfy so it was okay.

Mixed feelings about the property and the staff
Property was in a good location. Right on the beach. We stayed in the private bungalows. The owner was very friendly.
The room wasn’t the cleanest. The staff were 50/50. Some were really lovely. But some felt like they didn’t care and were just trying to make money. We were told we would be dropped off for free to the port i think by the owner and then one of the guys tried to charge us. We also were charged for water refils even though we were staying there which we werent made aware of. It just felt like some of the staff didn’t care or acknowledge we were staying there. This isn’t aimed at (i think) the owner. Or some of the staff because they were very friendly but overall we had mixed feelings about the stay.

A pleasant stay with clean facilities, friendly staff, and enjoyable events.
The dorm was really clean, the bar staff were amazing, and they had the best food on the island by far. The beach parties were great, and the pub quiz was also one of the best I’ve attended.

Paradise on a budget
The location is amazing, you’re walking out to one of the best beaches I’ve seen in South East Asia, pictures do not do it justice, there are small fish that swim around your feet as soon as you go into the water. There’s wifi in the dorms which is nice, and they also have lemongrass oil burning in the evening to keep it smelling fresh. Their rice bowls are so SO good (my fav was the gyros bowl) they also do a really nice coffee frappe and frozen passion daiquiri.
