Situated in Arcata, this charming cottage for $150 per night is a great choice for your next break. * Guest reserving home must be 25 years or older, be staying at the property the entire time and will be considered the responsible party for this booking. Sorry but this is not a pet friendly home, no exceptions. * Jane's Creek Cottage is the perfect place to stay if looking for a quiet retreat while exploring the Redwoods or visiting Cal Poly Humboldt. Families will love staying here while visiting their Cal Poly student and will feel right at home. Start the day with coffee on the covered porch then walk or drive to the Redwoods, campus or downtown, all are just a short distance away. After a day of adventure guests will love returning to this charming retreat that feels like a restored farmhouse filled with both modern and vintage decor. The wide plank faux wood floors add to the country ambiance. Visit the Arcata Farmer's Market or wonderful gourmet, organic grocery stores, Wildberries or the Co-Op and return to cook a delicious meal in the fully stocked kitchen with a gas-stove. Don't feel like cooking then throw some local grass fed beef or fresh fish on the propane BBQ and dine al-fresco on the patio. Sorry, no dishwasher but plenty of dish and glassware provided. Guests will enjoy a good night's sleep on the comfortable new Queen beds with high quality bedding. Enjoy the large walk-in shower after a day hiking trails in the nearby Arcata Community Forest. Then relax on the sectional sofa and watch a movie on the Smart T.V. with 200 channels. Free WiFi is included. Washer and dryer available for guest use in detached laundry room next door. This cottage is on a quiet private property that is shared by two other residence and local wildlife, deer are frequently seen. The owner works on-site and offers guests complete privacy but is friendly and willing to tell you about his home and the local area. *Please help us be "good neighbors" by following quiet hours between 10 pm - 8 am, parking in designated spots and respecting the privacy of the other residents. ** Parking is limited to 2 vehicles maximum with additional visitor parking for 1 more car with prior approval.

Looking for a place to stay for our first redwood experience and couldn’t decide where about we were going to stay. Found this little warm charming home and it was awesome. Old school home feel with hard wood floors Cosy bedrooms, nice hot showers, washer and dryer with use with complementary soap nice kitchen. It made you feel at home away from home. Will definitely do it again.

Had a nice stay at Jane's Creek! Super cute and comfy house. It's walking distance to HSU and a couple of minutes drive to the square. Great location for adventures to Trinidad and surrounding area. My only complaint would be the linens and towels were not cleaned well, they all had a really strange smell......like the laundry was done but soap was not used. We'd stay there again for sure with hopes that the linens were better smelling :-)

We felt right at home here during our stay. The property was close to Highway 101 and nearby a good selection of restaurants and grocery stores in Arcata. (We're glad we didn't choose a Eureka stay with it's 20-something stop lights along 101.)

This home is great! cute 2BR with a nice living area to hang out. Perfectly located near Arcata/Eureka and restaurants and stores and easy drives to the big redwoods hikes.

Overall, this is a great property that's comfortable and convenient. But there were a couple of things that you should know.
First -- it's noisy. The traffic noise is really high as the house sits just off a major highway. Where I live is noisy, so it didn't bother me as much as it did my nephew who lives in a very quiet area.
Second, the cleaning was a little slipshod. There was significant dust along with dropped articles under the beds and bathroom cabinets. I wouldn't generally comment on this but the items of furniture sit high and the floor isn't carpeted so a few additional sweeps wouldn't take that much effort. Given there's a cleaning fee but the resident is expected to strip the beds, gather laundry, take out all trash & recycling -- clean floors are not that much to ask for.
This was my first time to the area and I loved it. If I came back, I would consider renting this property again.

I mostly enjoyed staying here. However, some things to be aware of are the following:
1.) The house has a musty-moldy smell, especially upon entering the home in the kitchen. I’m not sure if it was that or the synthetic wood floor that gave me allergy-like symptoms. Luckily, we were out of the house doing things most of our stay.
2.) Freeway noise is very loud and present outside as well as lightly heard from the 1st bedroom. Sitting outside is not relaxing sound-wise if you are imagining a happy hour vibe. Patio furniture was filthy, but they had lots of towels so I just covered the chair.
3.) One roll of TP & no tissue worked till day 3 when it suddenly was clear there was no back-stock.
4.) Never got to watch TV because the two giant remotes didn’t correspond to the guest book notes on how to figure it out.
5.) Ancient shower head. A hand-held shower would make more sense for bathing and cleaning the shower. Light in shower glitches out; maybe check that.
6.) No GFCI outlets in kitchen. This is dangerous and not to code. Please update.
7.) There is someone living in part of the house with their own entrance. Not a problem but wish I had known that instead of being surprised by it.
The good things include: cozy beds, beautiful wild garden views from the adorable, vintage kitchen windows, comfortable family room, centrally located, overall clean looking home, big kitchen, and a nice neighbor who drops off TP if needed. Overall, this is a nice sized cottage that was comfortable in more ways than not. I’m actually low-maintenance, but appreciate knowing what to expect so thought I’d share.

Nice privacy, relatively well appointed. A couple broken lamps and some of the kitchenware was dirty or in disrepair, but other than that (really wasn’t that big a deal), such a cute, private, comfortable spot, I even booked an additional night!

But the directions were very precise and took us to the cottage, perfectly secluded from the road. The cottage was the perfect size for the four of us, actually bigger than I expected and very comfortable. It was perfect. The only complaint I have is I wish there were ice trays...maybe there were and we didn't find them. Other than that, I just wish I had reason to stay longer because I felt I wasted such nice accomodation!s

This was a perfect cottage for a small family and a quick getaway. I grew up in the area, and while at HSU, I lived literally around the corner, so this felt "just like home" to me. Everything was in great shape, clean, nicely decorated, and all the amenities were on hand to make your stay easy. The area was quiet and there were no issues. We met the property owner, who was very friendly and engaging.
The only recommendation I would make is to add a small cordless vacuum to the house to help with some clean up with crumbs or dirt tracked in, but that's just a minor detail.
I would definitely stay here again and I would recommend it to anyone needing a simple and small cottage to stay at while visiting HumCo. Thank you!

We really enjoyed staying at Jane Creek Cottage. It’s on a quiet street, conveniently located within walking distance to the university.
The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The owners and caretakers make sure their guests know all the essentials of the property (as well as the surroundings) with a binder of information.
The place is well stocked with kitchen needs. Also, our family of four (kids ages 13 & 15) found it roomy enough to spread out and get our much-needed alone time. Communication was timely and helpful, which made our travels that much less stressful.
