About this house rental
Located in Avalon, this attractive house for $400 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. The GRISHAM HOUSE: AVALON'S ONLY WATERFRONT BEACH HOUSE! You can throw a stone into the water from our fantastic 60 foot wrap around balcony deck with spectacular and sweeping 270 degree views overlooking the beach, the town, the harbor and the ocean! There is no finer spot to sit and people watch or relax with a glass of wine. 2 night minimum. (3 nt minimum in summer) You want waterfront with fantastic views; the best location; a great deck and the best value? This is it - look no further! Compare us to ANY other rental (house, condo or hotel) that claims to be waterfront or have an ocean view. This family owned vacation home offers you the BEST location in town; only steps away from the sand and swimming, shopping, restaurants and bars and all the recreational activities and sightseeing tours. We are also a very short, 2 minute level stroll from where the ferry docks. Our property is 3 stories, AND THIS UNIT IS ON THE TOP FLOOR AND THERE IS NO ELEVATOR. This is a classic, clean and comfortable109 year old beach house, but if you need a "room service Marriott hotel type experience"; you should look elsewhere. We do not have air conditioning, although it's needed as much at the beach and we do have 2 sets of sliders and portable fans. We also do not have a golf cart. They can be rented by the hour 200 feet away. On the ground floor are a couple retail clothing shops, an electric bike rental, a snorkel rental and a psychic. The middle floor (14 steps up) is our larger vacation rental (vrbo #65480) and this unit is on the top (3rd) floor 14 additional steps up from the middle unit. The stairs leading from the middle to the top floor are 36" wide, in case that is an issue for you. During the day we are right in the middle of all Avalon has to offer; hustling and bustling with activity. And virtually everyone who takes the ferry walks right past our property, so if you are a people watcher or enjoy seeing all the activity in the harbor; you'll be in heaven. At night however, after the 'day trippers' go home and the businesses close, everything calms down around us. This unit is like a small 1 bedroom apartment and offers a separate bedroom with queen bed, a remodeled bathroom with stall shower, a remodeled fully stocked kitchen and a small living room with small table & chairs and sofa. The living room has a TV and 2 sets of sliding glass doors that open onto the LARGE WRAPAROUND DECK WITH SPECTACULAR 210 DEGREE VIEWS. There is a gas BBQ on the side deck. BBQ and dine on the deck while you enjoy spectacular views. We also have free wireless internet access. Our beloved home is 109 years old and sound can travel between floors. Therefore, unless you have rented both floors, we have a quiet time policy with reduced TV, music and talking levels after 10:00 PM and before 8:00 AM. WHY STAY ANYWHERE ELSE? This property offers you the BEST location; the BEST beachfront view decks in town; and the very BEST vacation rental value for your money. We get many repeat guests year after year; you'll see why! NO PETS and NO SMOKING. 3 Night MINIMUM in Summer (and 2 nt minimum all other times). Sorry, we do NOT have a golf cart. Minimum age limits apply and young adults renting on their own must be 24 years of age. **BOOKING IN ADVANCE** We have many regulars that come back year after year and we always give them first opportunity to re-book for the following year. Lovely Festival get away and great place to stay ❣️ walking distance to the Catalina Express terminal, scenic views from deck able to enjoy the views with a glass of wine or wake up to the sunrise with a cup of coffee . The beach Apartment on top where we stayed is perfect for two my only discomfort were the two flights of stairs being 60 years of age they’re not my thing other than that you definitely appreciate the location being in the heart of it .

The cottage is on the 3rd floor of the building with easy
access. My best friend and I have rented it twice for a girls weekend, the porch is huge and where you will spend alot of time, you cannot beat the view, it's beautiful, and the inside of the cottage is spotless, has an updated bathroom, very comfortable bed and fully stocked, it works great with 2-3 people, the owner is very nice and very helpful. We will absolutely return for a 3rd stay, best

This one-bedroom apartment is well-appointed, very clean, nicely decorated and ideally suited for getting a feeling for Avalon as a town. The extensive deck and living room have incredible views of the harbor and Casino. My husband and I spent a lot of time hanging out there just taking in the sights. I swam in the water right in front of the house and we were planning on going snorkeling just down the street but weather interfered. We were right next to the Visitor Center where the bus trips to the rest of the island loaded and we got up to the Airport using this service. A great stay all in all -- my husband, who made the reservation, says: "Just what I was looking for, exceeded my expectations. I'd do it again. You couldn't be any closer to the action - that's the down side and good side."
So as he says, the only down side was also the location which was on one of the most traveled roads in town and the walkway to the ferry (also convenient in terms of our own travel). Because we were there over Christmas, it was relatively quiet most of the time except for the day the 3000 folks got off the cruise ship, all day long and every single one of them, in loud boisterous groups, walked by our lodging and lined up for hours to rent golf carts right next door. My husband loved the people watching but it was noisy and somewhat noisy everytime the ferry came in as well with taxis picking up visitors and people walking by. The basketball courts are also almost right in front of the house and the view towards the ocean but the noise level there varied as they were definitely not always in use.
We were happy with the accommodations and would rent here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our island getaway in this cozy beach cottage overlooking Avalon bay. The convenient location can’t be beat. It’s the ideal setting for relaxing while taking in the fabulous views. The home was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Randy was very accommodating and a great host. We hope to stay here again.
