We loved the home from home feel of the place. There was a little sundeck with a bench and that was lovely to sit and watch the sunset. The rooms were pretty and you had everything you needed to enjoy the stay.
The internet to the property could have been better. Netflix, Prime Video and BBC I Player were not good to watch as the internet was weak and intermittent Which was a shame.

Everything! The cottage is really well located, in a very quiet street. It is very cozy, ideal for a small group of friends or a family of 3-4. Proximity (short walking distance) to Chesil Beach and the best pub on Portland, The Cove House Inn. The explanations provided by the hosts are very detailed and greatly appreciated.
The lack of parking space by the house, you need to park in the street nearby, but not always possible and not always close to the cottage.

Dust was THICK under the beds!
Front door lock needs adjusting as very hard to lock and unlock
A statue gate at the bottom of the s traits would have made life much easier

Generally it is well appointed accommodation, in a good location and was fit for purpose. Heating, tv, wifi etc all work well.
The accommodation manages to make good use of space. The upstairs bedrooms are nice and bright with natural light.
Small outside sitting area is nice.
The owner seems to have taken time to have instructions for most things and provide a good selection of local info.
The overriding smell of damp unfortunately marred our rating of the property and to us this is a fundamental issue.
The house is equipped with many air extraction fans including the bedroom, however even with also regularly ventilating the house, it always remained the same. I now also see previous reviews mention an issue about damp smells and the countermeasures the owners have taken, sadly on our visit it was still pretty bad. Maybe we were unlucky and are just early in the season after winter, it may well be fine in the summer when it is in frequent use.
It was clean and well maintained but some surfaces were dusty.
The oven door does not close well so to get and keep the oven at a consistent temp was not so easy. Not a big issue but would be worth fixing.
Hope the damp issue gets resolved as once that is out the way, the property will be great.
