Nestled in Mission Bay, this attractive house for $776 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. Built in 1927 by the famous Scripps family in the unique "storybook" style; the home has been remodeled with the latest features to enhance its old world charm. This large house features an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, 5 separate bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and loads of outdoor patio space, providing the ideal mix for both quiet relaxing and fun social time. During the summer season, rentals run from Saturday to Saturday. Located in the heart of Pacific Beach (PB) San Diego's premier beach destination, the location can't be beat. Pack your wagon with surf and sand toys and head west for 2 blocks to the Pacific Ocean. Or, switch gears and head south 2 blocks to Mission Bay for a leisurely bike ride or to read a book on the sand. Forget something at the store? Ralph's supermarket is a 5 min. walk away, as are a wide variety of restaurants and shops for every taste. Our large group of family and friends absolutely loved this stunning historic home near the beach. It was located close to both the beach and Mission Bay, allowing easy access to both - often by walking. We thoroughly enjoyed the roof-top hot tub, the bikes, and the many and varied lounging areas. Cooking in the large kitchen was easy for us, and it was well appointed. The charming, unique bedrooms were comfy and we slept well. Having a first floor bedroom is great for older folks! We used the pool table extensively, and it was a fun focal point for lots of great gaming. Birders in our group saw numerous new species in the lush, enclosed backyard. The outside pool heated well, and was enjoyed by young and old in our group. The off-street parking was usefull on busy weekend and holiday days, and helped make life simple. Thanks again for a great stay, we hope to be back in the future!

Our family of eight (2 Seniors, 2 Adults, and 4 Children ages 9-15) from Virginia stayed a week. "Storybook" home is everything advertised and more. Very friendly and accommodating landlord. Super clean and kitchen has everything needed to prepare and serve meals. Lots of shopping and great restaurants within easy walking distance. Pacific ocean and beaches are just 2 blocks away. Home has its own pool and hot-tub if you prefer otherwise. Private parking (a rarity) for 2 cars included. Truly an enjoyable experience for the entire family!

We recently had the pleasure of staying at a delightful VRBO property located at Pacific Beach, San Diego, and it was an absolute treat for our family gathering. As a family of ten, with two teenagers and two younger children, finding a place that caters to everyone's needs can be challenging, but this house was more than up to the task.
From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The house itself is spacious and well-appointed, ensuring that each member of our family had their own comfortable space.
The layout of the home was perfect for family gatherings as well as offering quiet nooks for some alone time, which is essential when traveling with a large group. The location of the property is a highlight in itself. For families with children and teenagers, this house is a dream. The younger ones had ample space to play and explore safely, while the teenagers appreciated the proximity to local hotspots and the independence that afforded them. In terms of amenities, the house left nothing to be desired. The kitchen was well-equipped for family meals, bedrooms were cozy and well-maintained. We highly recommend this home.

We had a family reunion (all adults) and every single person loved this enchanting home. It is full of rich history yet also has modern kitchen and bathrooms and great amenities such as a small heated pool (small extra charge), hot tub and pool table. From the rooftop you had some peeks of the ocean and could gaze over the bay from the hot tub. Just know that there are many sets of stairs throughout, but it does have the main living areas and a large en-suite bedroom on the main floor for those who cannot do stairs. It is a great location, easy walk to Ralphs grocery, boardwalk/ocean or bay. It is in a cute, safe, quiet neighborhood. Ryan lives just next door (adjoining) so he is super helpful and communicative, but gives you total privacy during your vacation (you will not see a trace of him). Thank you for an amazing stay!

We traveled to San Diego for my nieces wedding. This house fit our group perfectly. We were traveling with all ages from 18 months to 80 years old. It was spacious and well stocked with everything we needed. Toddler loved all the pool and beach toys. Teens loved the pool table, pool and hot tub. The outdoor space was great and felt very secluded. We liked the proximity to the grocery store and beach as well. We all loved this home!

We had a lovely time at the Storybook House. The location was perfect - so easy to get to the beach, the bay, the grocery store and coffee shops and restaurants. Our 3 small grandchildren loved the pool - and our gathering place for every meal was at the patio table. Ryan was extremely accommodating - we had everything we needed, and more!

Fantastic property for our family reunion for eight days! The house is spacious, has various sitting areas inside and out for smaller group gatherings. 12 family members were very comfortable in their bedrooms and bathrooms. Everything was in excellent working order. The 3.5ft high built in pool in yard and roof top hot tub were well used & appreciated. Also evening pool games inside were a lot of fun! We cooked dinners at home 5 nights, All appliances were easy to use and were in great working order including gas grill outside. We had another house of 12 that were able to join us to enjoy the pool and to eat altogether. We were walking distance to ocean and bay. 4 bikes and other beach toys were all used on a regular basis making it delightful to get out and ride on boardwalk for sunsets! Owner is readily available if needed. He was very responsive when we had an issue with the garbage disposal. It was taken care of immediately after we contacted him!

Very quaint cottage style house with plenty of room for our large group. Great location! Two blocks from the beach and restaurants and grocery store. Parking for more than two vehicles was a challenge but not terrible. Prefect place to celebrate my daughter’s graduation from UCSD!

This was a lovely home and Ryan was wonderful. There are many uneven stairs but if you’re sure footed the charm more than makes up for it. There was plenty of room, the beds we’re comfortable and the counter space was plenty. It was wonderful for the family dinners that we had. I will definitely return.

My wife and I stayed at the Storybook house with our 5 kids and our friends with their 3 children (12 people total). There was more than enough room in the house for all of us to stay and it is an amazing location for accessing both the ocean or the bay. Thank you Ryan for being such an accommodating host. Will definitely stay here again in the future.

This home was great for our family gathering of 7 adults. A wonderful combination of options for privacy and togetherness. The private patio/courtyard included beautiful succulents and lots of gathering spaces. We enjoyed the rooftop hot tub. Close to the beach, grocery store, etc. yet very quiet at night.

The house was in a perfect location! Close to the beach, close to the bay, and a short trip to other attractions. The house is very unique and the main area (dining room, living room , kitchen) was great for family interaction. The pool was just right for my grandsons, 3 & 5. And the roof top hot tub was awesome!

We loved the pool which was just the right size for the kids. The pool table was a big hit, as was the hot tub. Ryan made checking in very easy and he and Birdy, his cockatoo, greeted us minutes after arrival. Great kitchen, beautiful private back yard. We will definitely return!

Ocean toys, wagons, bikes, and now a cooler are at your disposal. This place is amazing.

This home was perfect for a family get together. Very comfortable and relaxing home. My favorite features are the pool table and the roof top hot tub. Although our stay was during a rainy and cold spell, the gas log fireplace kept us warm and cozy. We hosted a dinner for about 15 guests, and the big kitchen and adjacent dining and sitting areas worked just fine, without needing to be outside at all. Our last day was finally sunny, and we were able to visit friends in the beautiful backyard. Ryan, the host, is amazingly accomodating, and always available to answer questions. We really loved his house and would definitely stay again. Two blocks to the beach or the bay. Nice quiet and safe neighborhood. What's not to like?

Our stay at Ryan’s storybook house was a wonderful experience. We needed a place for family to gather for our grandson’s first birthday and baptism. Perfect location plenty of space, clean, kitchen had anything you needed to make you feel at home. The beds were amazingly comfortable just the whole vibe was wonderful. 2 blocks west you were at the ocean. Ralph’s grocery store 2 blocks away for your needs and many many restaurants ands stores to try all with in walking distance.
I can’t forget the rooftop view and hot tub!!

This was our third stay at this property and we would have stayed longer but it was only available for 2 1/2 weeks.
It’s an excellent location being a short walk to the ocean or the bay, and only 2 blocks to the grocery store. If you want to stay home there is a spacious private back yard with plenty of seating as well as a roof top deck with a hot tub.
This was a family vacation with our son and daughter, their spouses, and 2 grandchildren. Everyone had their own space and we never felt crowded.
The owner, Ryan, has always been very friendly and available, but we have never required any assistance during any of our stays. We can’t wait to return. This is a beautiful home

House met everyone's needs. Excellent location for restaurants, beach and nearby attractions. First night temperatures were low for the area and Ryan made sure we had enough blankets and explained how the heaters worked. Once we had them on we were toasty warm! Loved the layout and charm of the house, plenty of room for our 4 families and parking was a breeze (even with 4 cars, were able to find street parking close by). Would stay here again!
