About this house rental

Situated in Lake Burton, this charming house for $774 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. Availability: May 15 - November 30; This unique house is located in Perrin Cove on the beautiful emerald green waters of Lake Burton. The homesite once was the location of a 1920's fishing cabin with a handsome rock fireplace. Through the years, the cabin was eventually reclaimed by the mountains, but the fireplace remained. In 1960, the current owners discovered the fireplace and built a small, cozy cabin around it. Later on, two large additions were made to the little cabin: one for a master bedroom suite, and one for a large dining room. Also added to the grounds were a two-story garage and a two-story boathouse. The house and outbuildings are rustic and family friendly. The main house itself has four bedrooms, each with a full bathroom. There is also a sleeping loft with twin beds. The original house has its own screened-in front porch and sitting area with porch swing, and also has the original wood-burning rock fireplace (there is a generous supply of wood stacked on the grounds). The 'new' part of the house has a large living room with gas logs in the fireplace, a spectacular dining room with a huge round table and its own fireplace with gas logs, galley kitchen, large master suite, and a large wooden deck with a hot tub. There are views of the lake from the porch, deck, master bedroom, living room and dining room. Down the hill is the two-story boathouse with a separate bedroom (no bathroom). Sit on the porch swings and hammock and let your cares fade away. For the more active vacationers, swimming, boating and kayaking are absolutely fabulous in this pristine lake! Up the hill from the main house is the two-story garage. A curving covered walkway lets you escape those mountain showers during loading and unloading your car when getting from the garage to the house. Above the garage is a separate, private queen bedroom and bath with shower; and there is a wonderful little porch with an Adirondak chair waiting for you. The water in Lake Burton is some of the cleanest in the state--it holds the most beautiful colors of nature, reflecting the green trees in spring and summer, the autumn hues in fall, and the bright blue of the skies in winter. There are two marinas on Lake Burton where you can rent a boat and tour the lake or have fun skiing, wake-boarding, and tubing. The area surrounding Lake Burton holds many pleasant surprises for those adventurous enough to leave the lake. Try your hand at trout fishing, whitewater rafting, exploring nearby waterfalls, and hiking the mountain trails. There are several wine and distillery tours close to the lake. Clayton is nearby, and Highlands, NC is a short trip, too. And don't miss the local places like Goats on the Roof (they really are on the roof!), and the Alpine town of Helen. For those who like to eat great food, don't miss LaPrade's (casual grill as well as restaurant) on Lake Burton. Drive a little further, and visit Fortify in Clayton and the Rabun Hotel on Lake Rabun. If you prefer to eat in, there are two Big Green Eggs and also a conventional barbeque grill ready to fire up and use at the house. CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: We are taking precautions that are recommended by the CDC to make every attempt to have clean and safe premises for our vacationers! There is a minimum of 24 hours (usually 36-48 hours) between rentals. The cleaning crew is using disinfectants to clean all hard surfaces. Bed linens and towels are being washed in hot water with detergent and Lysol laundry additive. Bathrooms and kitchen are being cleaned and re-cleaned with disinfectants. Unfortunately, we are NOT able to provide the use of our membership at Waterfall Country Club for the summer of 2022. The Club changed its policy on non-members using the facilities and golf course and we have no control over the situation. Keywords: Lakefront house with boathouse

We had a wonderful stay at Lake Burton in this gem of a cabin. Our family had people from 62yrs down to 2 yrs of age. Everyone had a blast! There were 2 paddle boards provided and we rented a pontoon boat for 3 days of our stay from LaPrades Marina. I highly recommend them and renting a boat. The cabin has a wonderful history as it was built and added onto over the years. It has 3 bedrooms upstairs and 1 bedroom dowstairs. All bedrooms have bathrooms; with the exception of the master all bathrooms are tiny and rustic. There is also a bedroom above the garage with a bathroom. The boathouse has a bedroom as well, but it does not have a bathroom. The kitchen is a galley style kitchen and had everything we needed to prepare delicious meals. I do want to mention that this home is built on a hillside so there are steps everywhere! Going from the parking area down to the cabin. Inside the cabin, there are steps to the different levels of the patios outside and several steps down to the boathouse. Not a problem for us, but I mention this because this home and property would not accessible for handicapped persons with limited mobility. The hot tub was a big hit with our group as was the top of the boathouse which is fitted with a table and chairs, a hammock, 2 swings, a loveseat, and 3 morechairs. This area is amazing and we spent a lot of time there. Our family made lovely memories in this little slice of heaven!

If you are looking for a nostalgic rustic lake cabin this is it! We enjoyed our stay on beautiful Lake Burton. There are a few things which might need to be highlighted in the description one being the use of the twin beds in the loft area above the Master bedroom- these really can only be accessed and used by small children. Also there are quite a few stairs to get to the boathouse so be aware if you aren't fit this might be a challenge! All in all we had a great time even with a few glitches here and there.

This house was very accommodating for our family and the location on the lake is fantastic. You must experience family dinners at the epic dining table and an evening swing on the boathouse porch.

What a neat spot. While "rustic" its very, very comfortable everywhere. The dock house is amazing and Lake Burton water is magical. The beds are comfy, and lots of bedrooms so everyone had space. Huge fun dining room plus great outdoor space and hot tub. Parking for several cars and good wifi for multiple "work from not home parents." Its not modern but that's the attraction and if you pay attention the history of the homesite and the house is intriguing. The steepness of the stairs both in the house and especially to the dock may be a concern for some but overall this is a pretty special place.

Great location. Dock at the end of the cove had deep water and was wonderful for swimming. Plenty of space.
