About this cottage rental
Harbor Cottage. Relax on the deck overlooking the fishing and sailboats of Flag Harbor opening onto the Chesapeake Bay. Only a three minute walk to the big sand beach famous for fossils from the Miocene period. Very quiet and not crowded. Great fishing from the beach or charter a boat. Shallow water makes for great swimming for kids. Bring your well behaved dog to enjoy the beach and swimming with you. Due to the pandemic we have kept a vacant day between renters as a courtesy to our cleaners and our arriving guests. These dates are blocked on our calendar. Washington DC or Annapolis is only one hour away, and the entire Chesapeake Bay area is steeped in American history. Just 15 minutes from the shops and restaurants of Solomons Island, and the terrific Marine Museum there. Many state parks for hiking and birdwatching. Having lived in So. MD for over 50 years before moving away, sadly, we had to return for the funeral of a dear and immediate family member. However; our stay at “Harbor Cottage on the Chesapeake w Dog Friendly Beach” wound up transforming our stay from sorrowful to one filled with great memories walking our dog and grandchildren along the beach and then enjoying the idyllic marina views off the front deck of the house. The neighborhood is a QUIET and CLEAN one and EVERYONE is extremely friendly. Best of all, it was a huge stress reducer to checkin to a rental rated for cleanliness that was actually …. clean! Terrific communications by and from the owners, also. We so enjoyed our stay at “Harbor Cottage on the Chesapeake w Dog Friendly Beach” we have already booked a return visit!

The house was very clean and comfortable and 2 minutes walk from a private beach. We really enjoyed staying there and strolling along the seashore looking for fossils. Katherine was very easy to communicate with and we'd happily recommend staying at this property, if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing place to stay to explore this beautiful area.

We had a lovely time fossil hunting on a private beach on Chesapeake Bay. The property is well equipped and spacious for a family of four, the location is great for Bay activities- steps from the Bay itself, convenient to activities in the area such as museums and nature preserves, but still very quiet tucked away from most commercial activity in the immediate area.

This is an amazing cottage. Very comfortable and close to the water. It was so nice to be able to take my dog on vacation with us, he had the time of his life. I only give it a 4/5 and not 5/5 because I wasn't prepare for the cottage to not have any sheets, pillow cases, or towels. I had to make a extra stop for these items. There also isn't a washing machine. Other than that the property was amazing.

This property was even better than expected! The house itself was comfortable and clean. The beach right down the street was great and has the most beautiful sunsets. This area is peaceful and very beautiful. We would definitely stay again. Also Katherine was responsive to my questions when needed. Thanks for a great stay!!

We were looking for a 1/2 spot to meet with a friend for a getaway. Katherine was very easy to communicate with and had timely responses. The instructions provided were very helpful to know what to bring and how to leave! We have a toddler and it was still overall a safe space! Highly recommend!

Our little boys had a great time combing the beach for fossils and shark teeth. Having never been here before we did not know the area. This stay is quaint, has everything you need and is a quick walk to the beach. The cottage has been there a long time and has some cobwebs here or there but nothing that would change my mind about staying here again. The harbor and neighborhood are quiet and people in the were so friendly and welcoming. Mind you this is a beach cottage style stay- not a 5-star hotel resort. It would have been awesome to have laundry on site but we had a short stay and it was no big deal. It is about a 15 minute drive”into town,” for groceries and such. If you can handle a laid back stay without luxurious linens and turndown service then this is the place for you.

This is our second stay, and had a great time on the beach! The house is fully equipped with everything you need and is comfortable. We had a great time and will be back next year!

This home was just as described, perfect for the 4 of us! It's located in a beautiful and tranquil setting. We loved sitting out on the deck enjoying the harbor views as well as taking walks on the beach looking for shark teeth. Friendly neighbors, great community. The host was quick to respond to any question. We loved staying here!!

It was perfect for my wife and I , two adult sons, and a dog. The house was very well equipped and the location was great. Beautiful view of the marina across the street and a sort walk to the beach on the Bay.

This was a great little place, with all of the basics, to have a nice vacation stay or to use as home base for visiting and sightseeing. We were surprised to learn that there is a park and ride into Washington, DC very close by. I was quick, convenient and easy to use.
The living areas of the home are quite spacious for a little house, and it was easy to have my family of about 15 over for dinner and socializing. Plenty of space for everyone and plenty of seating!

This was our first time to the earea and we will be back. Beach is a very short walk, lots of places to eat within 20 min to get the full Maryland feel. My kids loved being able to walk to the beach whenever we wanted to and chat about all the sailboats in the harbor. The house fit us really well. We really enjoyed our time and will define back again

This was our second time staying at Harbor Cottage and though the weather left a lot to be desired (lingering effects of Hurricane Ian), it just made the cottage seem even more welcoming and homey. Because we were just steps from the beach we were able to take advantage of gaps in the rain to go on walks there. And when the sun finally did come out on our last day there, our host was so kind and let us stay beyond the usual check out time. We look forward to our next stay.

Family vacation at this property 2nd year in a row. This property has all the amenities for a comfortable family of four. The location is wonderful, right across from the Marina and a short walk to the beach. We love that we can bring our dog.

Family get-away
Very nice but very hot+++ and mosquitos. We wished we would have waited till Fall to rent. Will probably come back sometime in the future. Our granddaughter enjoyed the swimming.

Home away from home
A cozy and comfortable place that is secluded from traffic, but close to necessary stores. We had a lot of rain during our stay, so we couldn't use the front porch as often as we would have wished, but even the best hosts can't control the weather! :)
The kitchen was set up very well, with the plates, pots and pans necessary if you cooked there, along with some basic spices. There's a tea kettle if you are a tea drinker (I am!) and a coffee pot too. Overall, I'd go back if I ever wanted to visit that part of Maryland again.

peaceful Chesapeake cottage
If you like the outdoors this is a great place to go. Quite a few parks & small towns to explore. It's on a gated, short, road to a private beach. We stayed over Memorial Day weekend and it was nice not having to deal with a crowd at the beach. Very quiet, peaceful area around the house. The house itself is roomy with comfortable furniture. It has a nice front deck with a retractable awning. Not much yard for the dog to play in but the beach was such a short walk it wasn't an issue. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect for Children!
We picked this property because it seemed just perfect for our 2 littles and it was! Just the right size and the location was perfect for us. So easy to get to/from the beach with all the things we needed for our babies and oh so quiet and relaxing. The only complaint we have is my hubby couldn't get the grill to stand up as it appeared to be broken and he had to grill on the ground, but other than that we would 100% recommend this property and would love to return someday!

We absolutely loved staying here, it was a perfect get away for a few days, our kids and dog had a blast playing in the water. The cottage had everything we needed. The owner was very friendly and easy to communicate with and answered all our questions. The walk to the beach was very short and we all loved exploring it. Perfect calm and shallow water for the little ones to play in.
