This place was amazing! If you are even considering booking shakti home, ill save you the strss of questioning whether or not this place is right for you, It is! We spent the first 5 days if our honeymoon there and the home was clean, the beach was perfect and private, the pool was refreshing and the bed was so comfortable! Plus the AC felt good at the end of a long hot day! Audrey and McCarl (and Maxine) made sure we had everything we needed and the food was AMAZING! We had massages on the gazebo and even hired a photographer to come take photos on the beach at sunset with our wedding clothes on! We took the bikes and made a few stops for a cold beer or food! Our friends at Treasure tours help organize anything we needed! We will be returning to this home for sure! You will love it!

We booked this house for a party of 6. Parents with their 3 (21-26YO kids and significant other). The location was great, NOT touristy, which we like. The beach and pool were well used by us and the local restaurants and bars we tried were very good. The best things about the house were Audrey, McCarl, Novia and of course Max! Audrey was amazing and baked a special bday cake for my daughter. Plus, we had food allergies, which she did a great job accommodating. McCarl was very attentive and they all went out of their way to make our stay exceptional. Our favorite house member was Max - the dog. She was a welcome surprise and spent her days hanging with us at the pool and taking walks on the beach - she was awesome! We would definitely stay here again and bring bones for Max next time!

I hesitated to write this review because, it is not our intention to harm anyone. However, we rely on reviews for our decision making and I think it is important for future renters, the home owner and management company to know our experience. Choosing to stay here 2 weeks was a once in a lifetime dream vacation for us. Unfortunately, we felt very uncomfortable here until the staff was tipped. That was a week and a half into our vacation. We were very clear with the management that we wanted privacy & control over our food expenses. (The price they quote for food is much hirer than what it costs to buy food in Jamaica. (We shopped generously for 2 of us, including alcohol for less than $100/week!). Instead, the manager and staff greeted us upon our arrival and the staff pushed themselves on us. We felt bad, so we hired them part time. The 20% tip on lodging costs recommended is much hirer than an average Jamaican salary for cooking and cleaning. At another house, we were asked to pay $20/day for the same service. We had no idea when we were suppose to tip & assumed we would do that on our last day. The staff hovered over us until we tipped them, so we never really had privacy and were not able to relax. Finally, I asked the home owner to explain the protocol for tipping. She did not reply with a clear answer and instead we received an accidental e mail that she sent to the management company, where she said she, "hates people like us." In addition, the taxi driver who picked us up in Montego Bay, sent by the management company, picked us up in a small old dirty car and talked behind our back when we asked him to turn on the AC. All in all this was not a yogic experience, so don't let the name Shakti Home & all the yoga decor fool you. I wouldn't suggest staying here unless money is not an issue for you, you don't mind everything (staff, food and taxi) being over priced and you want to hire the staff full time. The house is gorgeous & very comfortable. It's in a great location. The staff are very kind and skilled. We just didn't feel communication was clear or honest. Suggestions for management and home owner...roll staff into the nightly rate and their tip should be a bonus, not money they count on. Otherwise, don't tell guests that it is optional just so you can rent the house. I would only rent this house is you want full time staff and very little privacy.
