Situated in Newfoundland and Labrador, this charming cottage for $130 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. Perched on the edge of the Atlantic ocean, on Bradleys Cove Road in Western Bay, this charming one bedroom cottage is the ultimate getaway for a couple or a single person who are looking for that special place to unwind and enjoy nature at its best. An artists haven, you can set up your easel and paint the dramatic coastline without leaving your large private deck. Wake up in the morning to the sounds of loons and Kittiwakes and take your morning coffee to the private whale watching dock located at the edge of the property. Enjoy the unique chic nautical décor of the cottage with its bright colours and large windows with a panoramic view of the dramatic coastline. The modern kitchen has all new stainless steel appliances and all the utensils, and condiments you will need for cooking and baking. It has a modern bathroom with luxurious towels and linens, shower, sink and toilet. The bedroom features a queen size bed with high quality linens. We also have a small herb garden for your personal use. If your stay will be for a special occasion, and you would like fresh flowers or a special wine, or some other special request, please ask and we will try to accommodate you. Please note that the scenery along this coast is some of the most beautiful you will find anywhere, but there are cliffs and a rough coastline so when you are enjoying the many opportunities for exploration, you need to use caution at all times. Kittiwake Cottage: Wow, what an amazing trip and stay at the cottage. Nothing but warmth surrounded us as soon as we stepped out of our car rental and into the cottage, fresh flowers and plants, kitchen filled with everything that you need from spices, condiments, butter, bottled water, BBQ sauce, ketchup, mustard, relish, mayonnaise, coffee, sugars, oils, peanut butter, jams, flour and much more. Kitti had a bottle of wine and a welcoming card on the table and called to recommend surrounding areas, offered the use of anything in the cottage and informed there was fresh cod in the freezer. There were cards, puzzles, games, brochures/maps for the surrounding areas, new flip flops and outdoor blankets. The bathroom was fully stocked with toilet paper, towels, hand towels, face clothes, new toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, dental floss, and bathroom freshener. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything needed for cooking. Washer/dryer combo with detergent, TV with a variety of channels and a working music system. The touches that were put into this cottage have been very well thought out and creative. Outside was just amazing, BBQ, fresh herb garden for your disposal, flower, plants, ample sitting areas, two on the deck facing the ocean and one right on the edge of the property which allowed you to sit in paradise. Everything was very modern and unique. The trip to St. John’s was amazing but going to this cottage gave us the peace and serenity that we so needed.

There are many nice cottages for stays all throughout Newfoundland, but I feel there are none so nice as this beautiful little cottage at Western Bay. The location is amazing with beauty in all directions. The cottage is beautiful inside and out, and of course spotless and very comfortable. But there are so many things beyond this. The yard of the cottage is beautifully landscaped with flower and gardens, including an herb box so you can have fresh herbs for cooking. Every detail inside is carefully thought out to provide a comfortable and pleasant stay. The kitchen boasts the basics, but also all of the condiments and spices so you can do true flavorful cooking instead of merely heating something up. If you've forgotten anything, there are spares provided. You'll know just how special this place is when you walk in and find the bottle of wine and perhaps a surprize in the fridge. We have stayed many very nice places in Newfoundland, but this is by far the best.

If you are looking to decompress this is the place to go. Lots to do within a 3 or 4 hr radius and the cottage had everything you need and then some. The hosts have thought of everything. The best Vrbo experience we've had.

The pictures only give a glimpse of this amazing cottage & area. Kitty and Tom are the ultimate hosts not only in what they provide but also in their warm, welcoming personalities. It is so peaceful, relaxing and magical. Could have stayed forever.

From the moment we pulled into the driveway we were happy! This small gem sits on the ocean with a beautiful view from every window. There is obvious enjoyment that was taken when this cottage was created. The colours and whimsy throughout made us smile. Thoughtfulness was evident in the extra touches to make us feel appreciated and welcome. It was a wonderful and relaxing four night stay. It felt like we were in another time and place where life was quiet and easy.

We loved our stay at Kittiwake Cottage in Western Bay, NL! I must admit, the weather was unusually rainy/cold for early June - BUT, the comfort and vistas from every window of the cottage made staying in a pleasure. The cottage's tasteful decor and thoughtful touches made staying at this house a seaside vacation...even watching the storms blow through was relaxing here!
Don't think too much about making your reservation, this cottage is reserved months in advance. The owner, Kitty, is also very professional and an excellent host.

What a great find. Our host Kitty was gracious and accommodating throughout our stay. The property was perhaps the best vacation rental we have ever experienced. Kittiwake Cottage was incredibly well presented and provisioned with fabulous decor to match the beautiful scenery. Our hosts provided fresh flowers and a full array of kitchen and other supplies. There are not enough superlatives to describe the value for money that this VRBO provides. We will return in a second if the opportunity arises.

It was so nice to get away for a relaxing trip before summer. The road turns into a hiking/ATV trail soon after the turn for the cottage which was really nice for short hikes - there is an 1830s root cellar worth checking out. We loved the ocean views from the living room windows. One of my favorite parts was enjoying wine on the dock by the water. I would definitely recommend the Kittiwake Cottage!

If your vacation goal is to "get away from it all" then this is the spot for you. Kitty is a wonderful host who goes over and beyond for her guests. Not only was the cottage clean and decorated just perfectly. She left us some fresh caught cod in the freezer, a lovely bottle of wine and even some house slippers. We had a wonderful time walking all the trails near by and watching the whales right from our deck. Thank you so much Kitty. We hope to return one day!

Perfect location, makes you feel so isolated and private without the long drive to get there. The little extras that make the difference like the fresh cod, bottle of wine amd even a basket of limes amd lemons on the counter..... it was the little things. An amazing decor to help create a unique experience that felt very modern and artsy but very "home like" and cozy at the same time. The addition of the viewing deck at the back of the property gave that little extra feel of living on the ocean's edge.

The views from inside the cottage as well as the deck are beautiful. The communication was spot on with the host. We did not want to leave. Hope we can visit again. The Capelin were a rollin,

And the Sun was shining on Kittiwake cottage all week!
What a great time we had exploring the area and coming back to our beautiful home away from home each day.
The cottage is perfect in every way.
Lovely bright pastel colours throughout, beautiful furnishings, and such creative decorations.
Appreciated all the extras, fresh flowers, the wine, the cod, the flip-flops, the well stocked kitchen, the coffee and so much more.
Truly an amazing location.
Hopefully we will be back some day.

Paradise!
I dreamed of coming here for three years, and due to the pandemic, had to keep canceling and rebooking. Finally got here, and it was all I imagined and then some. The setting is idyllic, with sunrise and sunset views, and 360 degree views from the cottage. Every room is bright spacious and light. The cottage is beautifully finished and furnished. You have everything you need, plus Kitty left three arrangements of gorgeous fresh flowers in the house. Great hiking from the cottage- both on the boardwalk to the lighthouse (saw many humpbacks from there) and on Bradley’s Cove trail.
Kitty recommended a stop in Carbonear for groceries on the way from St. John’s, which was a great suggestion. Large grocery store which was well stocked. Had beautiful day trips to Grate’s Cove, Bay de Verde and Salmon Cove from the cottage throughout our five day stay.
Kitty is a fantastic host and a great communicator. Due to lack of phone signal, she has a landline with free calling throughout N America, which is great if you want to call family at home or for local calls. The WiFi is good too.
It was so nice to have Kitty and Tom across the street, so even though house has no next door neighbors, there are homes in the neighborhood, so not too remote if you need someone..
I can’t recommend this cottage highly enough—just don’t book it for my dates!!!I will come back as soon as I can! Thanks for everything, Kitty. You are a host extraordinaire.

Kittiwake Cottage was absolutely stunning in every way. The cottage was immaculate and the views were breathtaking. Kitty was available to answer any questions and was very accommodating. Everything about the cottage was first class, from the craftsmanship in the renovations to the floral landscaping. There was even a welcoming bottle of red wine. Our only complaint was that we only had three days at this cottage. Simply a heaven on the sea.

Canada Day in Kittiwake Cottage
From the time we drove in we were in love with this beautiful place and the excellent hostess. The cottage is absolutely perfect with a seaside theme that sets the stage for rest and peacefulness. Every thing you could ask for and more is provided.and all is top quality. Our favorite place was the beuutiful deck overlooking the bay. Good for heart and soul. You can do as much or as little Ishtar you want in the area with plenty of day trips as well as short hikes to scenic spots. The hostess, Kitty, is one of the sweetest you,ll ever meet and goes beyond expectations to make the trip memorable. We were celebrating a retirement and she helped my husband arrange all the things to decorate the cottage. She even had surprise fireworks for us on the last evening. In summary, we have travelled a lot to these type of places and this one is by far out favorite. Check it out and you’ll be happy you did😀Thanks Kitty and hope to return to your beautiful cottage!

A Gem in Western Bay
I do not have the words to adequately describe this gem of a cottage! The photos are accurate, but the cottage is even better when you see it in person. Everything that could possibly make your stay easier has been provided; the kitchen items like herbs and spices, jam, peanut butter, oil, vinegar, etc., were especially appreciated by those coming “from away”. The superb location provides you with restful days and peaceful nights, but interesting walks are on your doorstep and more places to explore are but a short drive away. We loved our stay so much that we’ve booked for next year!
